I believe Luciaphil is right.  The scientific name for lavender is Lavandula Angustifolia.  It comes from liliac or violet petals. How I got on this topic is beyond me but I think it had to do with Vicky's scent or how lavender became associated with homsexuality.  Am I right or wrong again?  If Murphy's Law is correct I'm probably wrong. In any case..its a nice, sensual scent.  So pleasing to the senses.   And I love Cole Porter songs!!

In asking whose favorite scent was lavender.. Didn't Mrs. J say she could still smell Victoria's scent of lavender when she finally left for good in the show and she and maggie were packing her clothes??  Am I wrong or right?

Oh yhea..I love Maggie too!!  ..and Josette..and Rachel...There were alot of gay moments on the show but I could say the same thing about Star Trek too and Starsky and Hutch.  Who cares?  Its all that stuff that made it so very special.   [skelleton_runs]

Heck, I've introduced my junior high science classes to DS.  The kids all know of my love for a certain vampire and have recently requested DVDs from Netflix.  Fandom knows no end!

My dad got me Hollywood Babylon..I think back in the 70's when I wasa young one in high school.  Great Reading!  Now Collinwood Babylon Wow That's a thought.  I wonder if there would be any mention of any nude pics?? I guess yes if a book of that nature took after HB.  It would make for some great reading though.

I am excited about the diaries section especially since his Visitor's Corner has been dormant for awhile.  It is something to keep his loyal following up to date on especially  his thoughts, "musings" and just him.  I love the man!

I think I messed up on the spoiler icon.  Sorry ya'all.  I'll get it soon.  It must be the heat from all those magical fireplace fires.   [ghost_rolleyes]

I never understood those fireplaces..no matter how long a room was unoccupied there was always some fire going on in one of those magical fireplaces.  I only witnessed Ben Stokes "light one" in one episode and he was only setting firelogs down but really he was simply kneeling by the fireplace.
The Old House was unoccupied after Barnabas was cursed and when Josette enters into her bedroom at the end of the Leviathan Story there's the old fire going.
They must have had some type of magical powers those fireplaces.  But the supernatural was what made DS so special.

Wow Taeylor, I always enjoy reading your comments because you seem so honest in your convictions.  I feel the same way about DS.  I just love this gothic , romantic story.  I have had to put it away though for a few weeks because it was consuming me in the summer when I'd watch 10 episodes a day.  Now I'm back to teaching and can't dedicate that amount of time to watching it.  I love DS I think because it helps me escape from routine stuff.  Does that make any sense?  In any case, I do hope you are on some road to recovery and that any pain you feel is minimized through proper medical help.  (Julia..where are you?) Long Live DS!!

Kathryn Leigh Scott looks wonderful.  I don't feel she was promoting herself just supporting PBS...Nova..Charlie Rose..Keeping Up Appearances..All I can say is TLAT KLS!!  She wrote me a note when I asked if she would consider writing a book of DS characters specifically Josette/Barn/Maggie/Lady Kitty..well she is writng her book BUT not about DS characters.  Too bad.
Josette taking poison was a bit much at the end of the 1897 storyline.
I was hoping she would put some closure on that for some of the DS fans who liked that romance.    So am I waiting for her next book to get published.  I liked Murder in Prime Time and hopefully she keeps up with the same character. KLS is still lovely!

You are right Magnus Trask about Buzz couple of weeks..but is time in Collinsport, Maine the same as time in the real world?  I mean RT and PT and going back to 1795 and going to 1897..1840..I don't know if Buzz was around for a couple of weeks or maybe a few months.  I really wish I could go back to 1967..'68,'69 so that I could go hang out in front of the ABC studios.  I would have begged my mom to take me there. But I was too young and not in the state of NY (still not there) so I guess her answer would be a resounding NO! Now I'm trying to get my girls to go to a festival with me and there answer is a resounding no!!  I can't win.  In any case Carolyn was a bit annoying during the Buzz weeks? months? year?  So does anyone know if time is the same in DS as real world time or is this even relevant?

Thanks for posting those pics of NB Taeylor.  Actually I was actually thinking that I don't see alot of NB comments in the forum at least not since I've joined.  I loved all her characters but was a little frustrated when she was so rebellious with Liz during the Buzz years.  My favorite of all her characters was of course her Cockney Pansy. She was exquisite in that role.  Looking at the pics, the first one reminds of  a light haired Audrey Hepburn..s'lovely!     [ghost_smiley]
