Current Talk '24 I / Re:WB ORDERS FILMING OF NEW DS PILOT

Sounds like good news to me. I'm anxious to see what they do with a new version of DS and to get a glimpse of the new blood they'll be bringing in to portray the characters. Though I don't care much for redoing the same storylines as they did before, I'm starved for something good to watch on tv.

Hi, I checked my dvd #2 of Vol. 5. The same static/
spark sounds followed by the checkerboard pattern flashes occured in the scene you mentioned. It almost looks like there was an edit after Joshua stopped talking and when Naomi began speaking. Hope that helps!

Well there goes my theory that this time around Victoria Collins would be the vampire set loose from her coffin and Barnabas Winters would bear a striking resemblence to a Joseph DuPree.  :D

What a great show the Captain had.  I remember the Magic Drawing Board gave me a few strange nightmares. Not bad nightmares, just strange.

Ben Stokes testified that Angelique was a witch at the trial. He told them about her spells on Jeremiah & Josette because she (Angelique) loved Barnabas. Ben also mentioned she turned Joshua into a cat. This was  when Angelique's ghost materialized outside the courtroom, before she testified, turning Ben's testimony into nonsense. But still no-one asked where she had been or if or why she had abandonded the Old House (though Peter Bradford did search for her afterwards).

If Ben hadn't shown up at Barnabas' instistence, would anyone have ever suspected Angelique as being the real witch?

Just a few things I've wondered about as I watch the 1795 SL.  Other than Ben Stokes, the last living person to see Angelique was Joshua. That was when he was offering her money to leave Collinsport. I think he'd left her some sums to mull over. But no-one seems to wonder about her whereabouts. Josette is found in a daze in the Old House, Suki is killed there, people seem to come and go from the house but no mention of where Anqelique has gone. When Baranabas tells Abigail that he's murdered Angelique, I half expected a "no wonder we hadn't seen her for weeks" response from his aunt. Speaking of Abigail, I would have thought she would have been inquiring the most about Angelique, wanting her to testify at Vicki's trial.

Did I miss Daniel Collins in earlier 1795 eps? Was he seen or mentioned before Millicent first spoke of her brother, when she discovered Lt. Forbes was married?

Also, I didn't understand the writers portrayal of Vicki during her trial. One moment it seemed she didn't take it seriously (which she should have, knowing the history of witchcraft in New England) and another moment she  seemed to be hysterical when she should have been calm to counter Trask's fanatical charges.

Glad my dvd could be of assistance while it awaits me to catch up on episodes.  Had Midnite not mentioned the glitch, I might have thought there was something wrong with the dvd or the player by the time I reached that ep. That was the case when my last player started to go evil on me- skipping over or freezing up on scenes.

I never realized til now the eps were edited from vhs to dvd. If they won't show us the uncut versions on dvd, they could at least include the edited scenes as an extra per dvd box set.

Ugh, freezing rain forecast for Saturday.   >:(   "I-cey"  a slick weekend ahead.

Has everyone on the forum seen Finding Nemo.

I loved "Finding Nemo".  Maybe I should watch that on Saturday, not a freezing raindrop in that film.

Just after Nicholas returns the painting to Vicki, he says, "Oh, Miss Winters" and she replies, "Yes?"  At that point in the MPI tape the screen turns a bright green, and I'm curious what happens in that spot on the DVD.

On the dvd, after Nicholas returns the painting to Vicki, she says "Thank you, good night" and begins to walk away, but apparently the "Oh Miss Winters"/"Yes" scene has been deleted. Instead, Vicki has stopped and turned around to respond to Nicholas (who never said her name on the dvd). He puts his hands up, says, "No, never mind".   A quick time travel glitch perhaps?

I'm currently watching the 1795 SL but the glich mystery made me want to jump ahead for this post!

Thanks, murph, for the welcome aboard (and congrats on your 100th post) and a welcome aboard to BenStokes (congrats on your first post)! I've really enjoyed reading everyone's introduction to Dark Shadows.

In my school it was NOT cool to watch DS, so my friend and I kept it to ourselves.

Once I entered 7th grade, I learned the hard way (much teasing) how uncool it was to watch DS- and admit it at school. But I didn't mind as much because most of my neighborhood friends- who attended a different school- loved DS. Good thing too, as I'd often run to these friends' homes straight off the school bus in order to not miss too much of the show (my house was farthest from the school bus stop, naturally). All of us bought as much DS related magazines and merchandise as our allowances could afford (I hate thinking about what great DS memorabilia I've either lost, sold or *shudders* tossed out in the trash).

btw I think I remember "Where The Action Is", if there were go-go dancers in mini-skirts on it, I remember it. Unless I'm thinking of a different show...

A reference to the pre-Barnabas era of the show(episodes I'd love to have seen) in another thread made me want to ask this-  how did you find out about Dark Shadows and when did you first watch the show?

For me, I was told about the show by a classmate back in 6th grade. Most people in my class knew of my interest in all things monsters- horror movies, monster magazines, eerie posters, etc. I was quite surprised that I hadn't heard about a tv show with a vampire as one of it's main characters until one day during recess.

I arrived at the show during the 1795 storyline, around the time of the trial of Victoria Winters, sometime in March '68. I was immediately hooked (I kept asking that classmate for details about prior eps) and stuck with the show til the end. Well, there were eps I missed because of poor tv reception as well as missing parts of shows due to late school bus arrivals in the neighborhood.  :(

Thanks in advance for your replies.
