Current Talk '02 II / What's that sound?
« on: July 16, 2002, 01:16:47 AM »
In the menu of the dvd during the intro just before the big clap of thunder, there are sounds of birds, dogs, ghosts(!) or something. Does anybody think they know what this is?

I was wondering the same thing in Adam's case - why is it necessary to build the guy from various pieces? Was the purpose of Lang's experiment to give life to a lifeless creature, or was it equally the purpose to create that creature? Aside from the obvious Frankenstein rip-off the only thing I can think of is that the body must be created from "scratch" in order to give it its own, unique identity - otherwise they'd be bringing a dead body back to life rather than creating an entirely new person and giving it new life.

?!? ?!?

My interpretation of the Frankenstein story was that several bodies were required because each corpse had unique physical imperfections resulting from the trauma that killed it -- thus, the doctor had to assemble his creation from the spare parts of many bodies.

What I don't understand is how many fresh corpses are available at any one time in the small town of Collinsport?  I assume they'd have to be recently dead so that decay hadn't set in too severely?  Shouldn't Willie have to take the Barnabus-mobile to the nearest big city to find an adequate fresh supply? :P

Well, they've done it again.

Barnabas is telling Julia that if they don't do the "experiment", then Adam will kill Vicki "I don't understand" Winters, and then move on to  Elizabeth, David and Carolyn.  What about Roger?  Did they forgot him again?  Of course.

It's a wonder that he doesn't get on top of his house too, and start shooting.  Poor Roger, he's probably crying again.  I like Roger, I like him alot.

No wonder he acts like he does.  I'd act that way too.

There is a code: women and children must be protected at all costs, while men are expected to be sacrificed if necessary.

Would Barnabas and Julia have agreed to the experiment if Adam were a gentleman and had threatened only Roger?  Barnabas to Roger: "Stiff upper lip, Rog old boy, sorry, but you're it!"  :)

certain roles can be played again like Batman for example(even though Adam West would not agree!)

I won't even dignify that comment with a counter-comment! ;)

Adam West IS Batman!!!

Ohrbach's was definitely NOT the Dolce and Gabbana of it's time, nor the Nordstrom's, for that matter.

More like the K-Mart, actually.  At least the one out here on Long Island was.

Rainey

Yeah, but in the 60's K-Mart was a somebody! ;)

Blair House - Joe knocks at the door. Angelique lets him in. Her dress has a gold skirt and is really beautiful, and she's showing off more cleavage than usual

Ah, shucks!  I was hoping one of the pics of Angelique included in this post was going to demonstrate that last statement!  ;D :P

Current Talk '02 II / If there had been another movie...
« on: July 14, 2002, 06:04:04 AM »
...what would you have liked it to have been?

Considering the 90-120 minute time constraint, does anyone have any favorite DS themes they think could have been developed into something interesting?

I've always wanted the Vicki is the secret daughter of Liz angle developed fully -- with the usual and unusual supernatural elements thrown in.

I took my DS dvds back to Best Buys today and got a refund!
I'd rather have a set that I could play on my DVD player,
but it doesn't look like that'll be happening.
So I'll just use my money to buy more of the MPI vhs
volumes  ;)

Wow!  I would have liked to have been an innocent bystander when you were trying to convince the BB pods to give you a refund! ;)

I hope you notify MPI of your problems so that they can issue more compatible future releases.

Frankly, I always thought Barnabas came across as dimwitted and effete next to either of those gentlemen.

(Hmmmm, am I going to be verbally caned for voicing that opinion?)

Rainey

Rainey,

**CANE!!!** **CANE!!!** **CANE!!!** **CANE!!!**

However, having said that, you're entitled to your own opinion. ;)

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Angelique returning as a vampire
« on: July 14, 2002, 01:52:28 AM »
Another theory:  perhaps when a vampire awakens for the first time, she is in such a state of blood lust that feeding is all she can concentrate on; once done, she returns to her coffin sated and sporting a toothy grin. ;)

That and she was under Nicholas' control, blah, blah, blah...

I always figured they had Barn in spiky bangs so he would look scarier, more like a vampire, but he shouldn't have continued to have them once he was human again.

I read that the original model for the portrait of Barnabas was actually a balding man with a comb-over!  When they hired Frid, his face was simply painted in to what was already there.

Hilarious, but kind of a let-down... :)

Actually, Herman Munster's (that handsome big lug) bangs beat Barnabas' to the airwaves by 3 years!  :D

Hi, mpi_dvd_authoring.

Can you tell us what kind of extras are in store for future DS sets and set #2 in particular?

Thanks. :)

However, somehow, I wouldn't have a problem with Johnny (or any DS actor) going crazy in the commentary. I mean, when you wanna watch it "seriously", you just turn the audio commentary off, right?

Nathan

Absolutely!  I'd love to hear Karlen do commentaries for DS -- especially if he's as entertaining as he was for DoD (too bad I no longer have that disc  :(
