Current Talk '06 I / Re: Empty Coffins On DS

Somebody mentioned Judah Zachary in passing -
Didn't Leticia help his head find the coffin that held his body?
that was a time when a coffin wasn't empty.  Of course it didn't get used much after that event.

However,
when Liz "died" as a result of Cassandra's curse, didn't Carolyn have a prophetic dream that her mother was still alive, prompting the gang to disinter Liz's coffin from the mausoleum?  And she was in it when they opened it, wasn't she?
But yeah, it seems like buying a coffin was for the most part a big waste of money in Collinsport.  Or at best, there was only a 50/50 chance it would actually be needed for the long haul.

Very cool, proudhug!  My only question is, what do you plan to do in consideration of how the backstories changed as the show progressed?  Could get confusing. I would be willing to help in some way - it's a wonderful idea!

One of my personal favorites is Julia's overuse of the name Barnabas during conversations with that character.  "Barnabas, surely you don't think, Barnabas, that there is a ghost, Barnabas, at Collinwood, Barnabas?"

I swear that once she used his name like, seven times in one sentence!

Current Talk '05 II / Re: Where did the Collins family come from?
« on: September 22, 2005, 11:00:13 PM »
I'd always imagined that the Collins family was English and wealthy, and that a second son (Isaac?), seeing that his prospects were limited (since the oldest son would inherit), decided to have a go of it in the colonies, maybe with a royal land grant.  But of course, I have an active imagination.

The 1991 revival series idea about the house being brought over brick by brick would have been believable had the house been a little smaller.  And that idea might indicate that perhaps Dan Curtis imagined (reimagined?) the Collinses as a wealthy English family.

Then again who knows?  Maybe they were from Cleveland.

If I were to choose two consecutive episodes with which to introduce a newbie to "Dark Shadows," I might go with those couple episodes early on in the show (290 and 291) when Barnabas attempts to kill Julia, but she reveals to him that she knows he's a vampire and thinks she may be able to cure him.  Julia and Barnabas first meeting is really pivotal to everything that came after, and this lays the foundation for her whole Girl Friday role, also showing off his not-so-nice side.  Plus there was also stuff about Barnabas's whole Josette/Maggie/Vicki obsession going on, which sets up other exciting storylines.

Hi all, first time poster here.

I have only seen a few of the pre-Barnabas shows.  I agree with those who said they were very atmospheric.  They also seem to be more typically soap opera, since they weren't so focused on the supernatural.  But unlike most soap operas, which seem to be plot driven, the shows I saw were character driven.

Hopefully, somebody other than the Sci-Fi channel will re-broadcast these episodes.  Or maybe they will eventually come out on DVD.  I for one would really like to see all of them.
