I guess I'm just not up on this ghostly love thing.   Although there were some women in my past who treated me like a ghost - as if I wasn't there.  Then again, Mrs. Julian also does that now and again, especially when I tell her she doesn't really need yet another pair of shoes.

Dumbing down characters is one thing, but why is Quentin acting so.... for want of a better word...whipped.  You'd think he was some youth of fifteen or sixteen who'd never had a girlfriend before instead of a man with a rather impressive romantic resume.  Yet he's acting like some love sick calf over Daphne.  As for Gerard's facial expressions, it seems to me he needs a good dosing of metamucil.

Current Talk '03 II / That Gerard is sooo Evil!
« on: September 05, 2003, 06:21:33 PM »
How evil is he?  Even the inane whinings of Hallie Stokes can't drive him out of the house.  I'd have took to the hills long ago.  Heck, if I was Maggie I'd welcome the attentions of the vampire if it would get me out of having to deal with her.  No wonder Roger is away somewhere.

It does seem that the powers in charge failed to realize that David was no longer 5 years old - I think even in 1840 Tad and Carrie would have been way beyond the playroom stage.

I also don't like seeing Quentin in this state.  In today's episodes with those suspenders he looked and acted like John Boy Walton on a bad acid trip.

Speaking of stupid, it was certainly unwise of Liz to confront Roger after she heard his confession.  How much better it would have been if she'd quietly left the room, remembered some urgent business in town, and made her way to the police station.

Couldn't agree more Gerard.  I love DS, but often wish they would have concentrated more on the dynamics between established cast members and not go off on so many tangents, although the tangents themselves could sometimes be entertaining.

I haven't seen Trouble in Paradise, but I'm putting it on my list of movies I want to see.  From the IMDB I see it also has Miriam Hopkins who I also like.

No offense to the thespian talents (which I'm afraid escape me) of Ashton K., but he's no Herbert Marshall.  Herbert Marshall was indeed in the Letter and he also appeared withe Bette Davis in the Little Foxes.  He gives a wonderful performance in each, more than holding his own with the formidable Davis.

I can imagine Quentin and Maggie at a Marriage Encounter weekend explaining their troubles to the other couples.  "Well, you see - there's this witch hanging around the house...."

Carolyn Stoddard Loomis has a shot of the potion, starts gathering twigs, leaves and other assorted items to use as centerpieces at luncheons and morhps into Martha Stewart.  (Don't even ask about her investments)

Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, poor relation, has a sip, becomes a ruthless business woman, opens a string of luxery hotels and morphs into Leona Helmsley.

Regarding Aunt Hannah and Hyacinth Bucket - I can see her trying to give a candlelight supper and then having it crashed by an inebriated Timothy Stokes a la Onslow and Angelique going after every male guest for "warmth" a la Rose.

Julia99 - Isn't 3 Beekman Place the home of Mame Dennis?  Life does have its ups and downs, but remember, Mame says life is a banquet and as her great portrayer Rosalind Russell said, we don't want to miss out on any of the courses.  OK, maybe I would like to have skipped some of the meals I've had to eat, but I keep hoping that they will somehow contribute to my development as a person.  I'm not always sure about that, but I keep hoping!

Poor Fred.  You'd think if Angelique were going to suck the life out of the poor fellow she could have managed to give him more than just a kiss.

If they had a tv in normal time, David and Amy could have kept themselves busy watching the Brady Bunch and not gone messing around in the West Wing with disconnected telephones.

I kind of like the Cyrus/John story, but I wonder if it wouldn't have been more effective if the makeup/wig department had done a better job.  If I took a potion and ended up looking like Mr. Yeager I'd throw the remaining elixir off of Widow's Hill.   I really like the job Lara Parker does with the whole Alexis/Angelique plot.  And I love Aunt Hannah, she's a hoot.
