Alexandra Moltke once revealed in an interview the she had trouble maintaining "Respect for Victoria" because she was "Pathologically Naive" so the fact that she could easily confuse Mathew, Ben and Elliot comes as no surprise.   [ghost_wacko]

Grayson's contribution to Dark Shadows was vital.  She, like Jonathan, carried the show.  She was not an Oscar Nominated Actress by chance. [ghost_angry]

They won't even begin filming until at least January.  But knowing what a perfectionist Johnny Depp is, it doesn't surprise me that this happened. [ghost_mad]

Newark (actually Elizabeth) was a lousy location.  Although working for Amtrak helped me a great deal.  The trip was free! [ghost_tongue]

I'm certain Michael was invited more than once to participate in Dark Shadows Fandom, but like David Henesy, he has consistantly refused to participate.

According to the Dark Shadows Festival, Michael Maitland was invited to be interviewed for the then new DVD Release of the Leviathan Storyline.  He declined to participate.

Although the Leviathan Storyline left much to be desired, even a really good storyline would have paled in comparison to the 1897 Storyline.  Coming on the tails of 1897, it was probably very hard for the writers to come up with compelling material.  And remember, Dan Curtis was now focusing his attention on the upcoming Dark Shadows Movie.

I always felt that Michael Maitland did a very good job.  It was easy for me to connect with him and David Henesy.  We were all about the same age.  I imagined him returning to the show as the long lost son of Angelique.  He had the same icy cold stare as her, but he never returned to the show.  And neither did Chris Bernau.  And neither did Marie Wallace.  The Storyline was so unpopular that even the actors directly connected with it seemed to be blamed for its lack of sucess.  Perhaps that is why Michael Maitland declined to be interviewed for the DVD release of the Leviathan Storyline and has never accepted an invitation to a Dark Shadows Convention.

It seems sadly ironic the both Jean Simmons and Joan Bennett both died at the same age, 80.  And the Obituary made no mention of 1991 Dark Shadows.

It is very sad to hear of the Passing of Conrad Fowkes.  It was nice to know he had recently attended a Dark Shadows Festival.  My heart goes out to his family and friends.   [santa_cry]

The first funeral, which was indeed at the Trask Chapel in 1840, was that of Roxanne Drew.  The ever vengeful Angelique caused Banabas' wounds to reopen a second time and she bled to death.  And Lorna Bell was the "Flossie" you referred to.  Michael Hackett Todd

My deepest sympathy goes out to Ron Sproat's family, friends and significant other(s) on the sad occasion of his passing.  He will be as deeply missed as any member of the Dark Shadows Family. [hall2_cry]

Happy Birthday John! [candle_in_skull] [hall2_grin]

The Leviathan storyline was very unpopular with most fans.  It paled in comparison to the 1897/Quentin storyline, which earned the shows highest ratings.   The result was a sharp drop in viewers that continued through Parallel Time.  The ratings did not begin to recover until the 1995 Flash Foward and the introduction of Judah Zachary.

Dan Curtis decided to end the Leviathan storyline months sooner than planned.  Perhaps that is why Peter Bradford made a brief appearance, to fill in the episodes until he could begin the Parallel Time storyline.  And remember, Dan was working on the House of Dark Shadows Movie.  Ambitious as he was, Dan Curtis may have had too much on his plate.

As for the demise of Victoria Winters, her departure from the show was somewhat bitter.  Alexandra Motke was already pregnant and would have to leave the show until the child was born.  Then Dan found out she had secretly married!  She was promptly released from the show.  She wanted to return "possesed" to shed her sweet image.  Dan refused and she was finally killed off.
