This storyline is also notable that a Trask survives it!

Its hard to believe that it took over 40 years for a DS comic book to actually use the TV series as it's background.  This does have the feel of the series more then any other comic or fan fiction.  I thought I was the only one who thought the audio series was someway off the track from the original series.

Thats one thing that has always annoyed me is that for someone who is just a generation removed from Liz & Roger, their mother was never given a name.  Even pre-1897, when we learn Jamison was their father.

Their mother (and an adult Jamison) lived during the "quiet years" at Collinwood.
She may well have been one of the few Collinwood residents not to have any encounters with the supernatural

Elizabeth and Roger's father died before David was born. Nobody seems to mention his grandmother.

I agree about Quentin in the present time being out of place.  They went out of their way in 1897 to make sure he would be around in the present time but then when they get to the present time, they didn't know what to do with him.

Perhaps they should had David Selby play another grandson of his daughter Lenore in the present time and just have him die in 1897 as he did originally.

If Thayer David had not been available to play Ben Stokes in 1795, the actor playing Amos would have made an interesting alternate

In 1968, Mrs. Johnson goes to stay with her sister. Was it mentioned Mrs. J's daughter having a baby recently?

They should have had her daughter appear, instead of her son!

They needed a new actor to play Quentin, it's more mysterious that way.

It is stated in some 1969 fan magazines that DS was going to have a mummy story after 1897 ended but DC didn't like the idea and said it is because all a mummy does is drag its leg slowly.  That's the one supernatural plot he wouldn't use.

Jeremiah Collin's ghost looked something like a mummy though.

I wish Dana Elcar had remained on DS, though Vince O'Brien was also good in the role.

Sheriff Patterson was the "normal" character during the later years who never got involved with the supernatural action.  Though he certainly would have had he not gotten out of office in the nick of time during Leviathan.  Odd that they didn't recast the character instead of getting a new sheriff altogether.  Perhaps the writers were being sentimental about giving Patterson that fate. Then again, look what they did to Vickie...

I'm really appreciating Dana Elcar’s performance in this round of watching, and wishing his role had continued to be as good as it is at the moment.  Maybe it's hard to keep the sheriff smart when the monsters start buzzing around his head

In one of the last episodes, it seemed to be veering to a Parallel Time type of story where a woman character was on the wharf and came upon a street and then a minute of so later, the street wasn't there but the ocean was.

It's too bad they never had Clarice Blackburn use her own hair on DS.  I never saw a photo of her without the wig in her younger days.   They did the same thing when Barbara Cason playes Mrs. Johnson in HODS.

I love the dime tip!

I wonder if the later writers were ever aware that Mrs. J wasn't at Collinwood originally, giving Carolyn's remark abour Mrs. Johnson doing her hair when she was a child in the Summer of 1970.

When the show went to color, they still could have used some of the location footage alreasy taken as they were filmed in color.  Seems to me ,that if they were able to add the waves or lightining footage in later episodes, it wouldn't have been hard to use the others.

Other footage that could have been used for later episodes that were shown in color: the sheriffs car at the Collinwood door, the wharf, actual exterior shots of Collinwood, the Old House, Widows Hill,, the beach, even the cottage.

This was also an unusual soap opera in that it was about crime and was actually filmed live, not live on tape.
I have only seen the last years when it was done on videotape and toned down considerably.

Was this a scary, suspenseful show?  I know the theme song had a eerie ring to it.

Could Benjamin & Theodore have been the sons of Gabriel & Edith?
