and yet again just today passions mentioned BARNABAS COLLINS on todays episode on DIRECTV! I believe this is the 3rd or even 4th time BARNABAS is mentioned on the series. this time JOSETTE is also mentioned! here is the transcript.....
EDNA: ARE YOU OFF FOR A DATE WITH BARNABAS COLLINS?
TABITHA: 300 YRS LATER POOR BARNABAS IS STILL MOURNING THE LOSS OF HIS BELOVED JOSETTE. I'VE TOLD HIM TO "GET A LIFE" BUT SINCE HE'S TECHNICALLY DEAD ALREADY.......
EDNA:(chuckles)DO YOU WANT TEA OR COFFEE?
TABITHA: TEA

i watched passions from day 1 and enjoy it still. the outragous things they have done and still do made it unique. just yesterday a character disguised herself as an ugly betty look a like, another male character got his private parts cut off! his pregnant "son" was drugging his doctor mother so she would botch the surgery and kill the father of his child who is also his father while she tries to reattach his private part. lol

well at least it got mentioned even if they were a year off.

how was she involved? wow! she was claus mistress and it was believed that he did what he did to be with her. i remember the footage of her testimony shown on cnn. it reminded me of victoria at the witch trial!

there was an actor named TOM CONWAY. i think he even has a star on hollywood blvd. he was in the 1942 version of CAT PEOPLE.
there are actually 4 TOM CONWAYS listed on imdb. 1 is the actor mentioned. the others are directors and cameramen. 1 even worked on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER! i doubt any of them are the ds fan who wrote the story.

i dont get this channel but i would be curious to know if the last few seconds of the film is shown in COLOR. when this film was shown on local tv stations it was probably thought to be entirely in b+w and was shown that way on most stations. but the last few seconds of the film was shot in technicolor.

the new NATIONAL TREASURE movie also contains a scene filmed at GREYSTONE. the courtyard is shown as well as the front entrance where vicki arrived as well as a scene inside the mansion.

i cant imagine a hd or blueray release of the ds episodes. obviously ds was not shot in high definition so there is no need for it unless they try to do some kind of cropping to make it wide screen like they shamelessly did with the 91 series on dvd. i think they should leave it the way it is. the dvds look crystal clear and i cant see how they could possibly improve it.

thanks for all the birthday wishes. i even got a birthday wish via telephone from a hammer film star! Veronica Carlson from "DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE"+"FRANKENSTEIN MUST BE DESTROYED" called me to wish me a happy birthday. david n and i spent a weekend with her recently in SF when she appeared at the castro theatre.  that call and everyones wishes here made it a very happy birthday. thanks.

dark shadows was also mentioned in the 9-24 edition of tv guide, page 90. article was about recycling programs, mainly the new bionic woman. night stalker and other remade tv series also mentioned.

i noticed the strange camera angles and the horizontal squeeze right away. it is the camera doing that but i dont know if it was done on purpose or not. i notice the same effect much later in the series. i think it is in 1968 roger davis seems unusually tall and thin in some episodes. i think the angles they use (like shooting from the ground up)and that horizontal squeeze really added to the mood of that first episode and it makes joan bennett look so much more elegant for some reason.
