Testing. 1, 2, 3... / OT - Happy 25th :-)

I have no idea if it's true; I suspect many claim to be the first, but supposedly a professor at Carnegie-Mellon University was the first to use :-) as a smiley face 25 years ago, and today (yesterday by now) they were celebrating it's 25th!!

As they have a lot of advanced computer and robotics, etc. there, I imagine it could be true.

D is for Diagnosis - none of the doctors called in to examine the many characters under varied spells was able to make an accurate diagnosis.

It was always my opinion that Trask wasn't terribly concerned with finding the actual witch or ridding the house of evil - he was mainly concerned with persecuting someone.  With all of the Trasks, I always got the impression that the whole religion thing was somewhat of a sham.  He got power and position by doing what he did, and it's much more efficient to persecute someone who's already been named than to conduct an actual investigation.  That would take time, there would be doubt as to the guilt of the accused (not so with Vicki as Abbigail and the Countess were already convinced of her guilt), and there's always the possibility that the actual witch might have been a member of the Collins family - now that wouldn't have done at all for Trask's reputation.  Much better to persecute a lowly servant.

I definitely think that description fits the 1897 Trask and perhaps Lamar Trask (although he was an undertaker and not a minister).  But this original Trask, I think at least to some extent, truly believed in what he was doing.

I still don't think I'm following you!  However, just now, after finishing the new posts on that board, the "new" light finally disappeared!!!

I don't think I'm following you!  :)  If there were new posts in the archive at that time, presumably I saw and read them.  At that point they were no longer new.  Why would it still indicate new items?  And, it doesn't happen in any of the other boards.

For several days now the box by Calendar Events / Announcements has stayed "lit up" indicating new posts.  After reading all the new ones, it remains "lit."  I checked to see if there were posts in the archive that were new, but it shows "no new posts."  One day I went through the previous pages to see if I had missed something at some point, but there were no new items there.  I read all the new ones, but every time I come back to the home page, the box is still "lit up."
