Ah yes, the dream curse!  I had forgotten that Carolyn had a vision of her own death during that ridiculously long and drawn out plotline!  Thanks, VictoriaWintersRox!!

I didn't see the tombstone, but am wondering why the heck it was there in the first place.  When has Carolyn died (aside from overnight following the "Eve" experiment)?  I'm sure I'm just forgetting - can someone please enlighten me?

Forgot this:

And I so agree with you Kuanyin, on the Judith/Charity scene.  It's cool to see the lady back with a vengeance (pun intended).  Her line about Gregory spending hours searching for Amanda's soul was priceless.   Love seeing Judith and Charity getting to be friends, I wonder if they continued this.  And I can't wait to see what Judith has planned for Greggy-poo!

However, what I can't figure out, is that she apparently had to capture his image in the mirror to create the doppelganger.  As a vampire, he wouldn't have been able to cast an image in the first place, so. . . .

Unless at the time the doppleganger was created, Barnabas had completed enough of the treatments to show up in a mirror.  Of course, Dark Shadows was never terribly consistant with this aspect of vampire lore.  I seem to remember Angelique showing up in the mirror several times when she was made a vampire by Nicholas Blair.  [vampire]

I know some don't enjoy Kitty once Josette emerges, but I agree Vlad, this scene is a great one - very haunting.  The troubled protagonist and and his reincarnated lost love is an emblematic theme that is featured in many wonderful films, both within and outside the horror genre - from "The Mummy" to "Vertigo" to "Bram Stoker's Dracula."

Dark Shadows really does a lovely job with the Josette/Barnabas love story right up to this point.  It's too bad they later choose to end it so ignominiously.

Cassandra Blair, I'm betting you will, and would love to hear your thoughts after you've had a chance to watch your tape.  I think the ep is a hoot and a must-see for LP fans.  Love the Smurfette look on her. ;)

You win that bet, Midnite!  Not only did I get a big kick out of it, my husband enjoyed it too.  He can only take so much of Dark Shadows, but likes Lara.

Lara's over-the-top performance, especially the coven scene and the "Smurfette" scene put paid to Darren McGavin's claim that she didn't know now to do camp.  As far as I'm concerned, she redefined camp with this performance.

Nina Foch (love that last name ::)) as Madame Trevi had a super line early in the episode, remarking on the outfit Lara's character was modelling: "The truly liberated woman is not afraid to be a woman.  No camp, no kitsch, no...cartoon t-shirts!."  I'm recording it as the new greeting for my cellphone's voicemail!

And how about the name of LP's character: Madelaine?  Not only is she a witch again, she has a French name this time too. Overall, it was a hoot - glad I got to see it.  Hope others enjoyed it too, even as a curiosity.

And thanks, Sheenasma for the 'inside info' about LP and DMcG's working relationship - very interesting.

BTW - Welcome, Angelique820!  It's great to see another Lara fan here!!! [wave]

The dress appears to be the same to me.  Bows and lace are easy to put on and remove.
By the way, I see RD in the picture wearing tight "Nathan Forbes" pants and there is nothing there.  It explains his shouting and hysterics.  He is over-compensating.

Yeah, I'm thinking that it is the same dress - they just changed out the trimming on the bodice.  Thanks, Midnite and MB for posting those pics, it was fun getting to the bottom of the mystery of Josette's dress, LOL!

As to Roger Davis - I couldn't have said it better myself!  (tee hee hee!)  ::)

Love the archduchess and the Jack Smith references.  Haven't ever seen Ms. Montez in action, but an "auntie" of mine swears by her.

I hear you on the Friday thing!  Can I pour you a virtual cocktail, Gothick?  I make a killer martini! [lick]

Bob the Bartender -

So disappointed to hear that this ep of Kolchak isn't up to snuff, particularly Lara's performance.  I haven't actually seen it yet, just set the VCR this morning - yes, I'm at work today.  ::)  Maybe I'll still get a kick out of it - I have been known to enjoy my share of bad TV shows!

Will look forward to having a gander at some of her better performances that you recommended.  Have always heard good things about "Save the Tiger."

No offense taken this end!  :-*

Well, a check of a great HoDS website reveals that the dress Kitty was wearing when she met up with Jeremiah's ghost *wasn't* the same one Maggie wore at the end of HoDS for her aborted 'wedding' to Barnabas.  But it appears that it *may* have been the same dress Ms. Evans wore to the Collinwood costume party earlier in the movie.  The wedding dress is an empire-waisted early 1800's gown, while the party dress is more 1780's/early 1790's - longer waisted - like Naomi used to wear on the show.
