P.S.  Gerard, after my last comment I forgot to mention your COVID news - so sorry you got it, but obviously glad you got through it!!!

I was 13, so I remember more of it.  We didn't panic and do all of that shopping or anything else out of the ordinary, but I remember watching the President's speech and following the news for several days and it was certainly tense.  When the movie came out, I thought it very good.

We had what they called, I think, retention drills, but I recall that more from years before that.  I think we went to the auditorium and as many as possible sat lined up on the stage.  I guess the rest were in the seats or aisles.  I also seem to recall crouching under the desks.  I never understood that, especially when I was older and knew more about it - I couldn't see what any of that would accomplish.

I remember liking the TV movie "The Missiles of October" (apparently from 1974) about the Cuban Missile Crisis.  I happened to think of it the other day and decided to look it up and check on some of the cast members.  The most famous and important ones were William Devane as John Kennedy and Martin Sheen as Robert Kennedy.  As I looked through the rest of the cast, I discovered Dana Elcar as Robert McNamara, US Secretary of Defense; Dennis Patrick as Llewellyn Thompson, former US Ambassador to the Soviet Union; and Thayer David as uncredited narrator!!

Thank you, Patrick.  I saw the whole thing the last 2 times, and this time I was up to the point where Cannon was arrested and they had escaped.  I sort of recalled and a review mentioned that he escaped, and of course I remember that he caught them, but I couldn't put together how any of that came about.  I do remember the trumpet scene, although I wouldn't have known it was from this one.

I always forget that they are both in this episode.  It was on again last night.  I went to bed in the midst of it and don't remember how it works out!!  The two of them are the "bad guys."  Anyway, I checked it on imdb to see if I could get more info on the plot, and found one reviewer who had a lot of nice things to say about Mitch.  Here's the quote:

"Anyway, in this episode he has to struggle against an evil character, played one more time by the exquisite - and unfortunately so unknown - Mitch Ryan, whom he has already been against in other episode(s). I also find real pleasure to appreciate this actor's performances. I think of him in MONTE WALSH, that's where I discovered him. A great character for a great western. Ryan has an impressive physique, a perfect charismatic and tough, rough face. He should have been more enhanced in films or series. I would imagine him as a series lead character, so was Mike Connors in Mannix, for instance."

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Technical Question - Adobe Flash
« on: December 23, 2020, 06:20:34 AM »
For over a year I've been getting a message that Adobe Flash won't work after this year.  It's almost the end of the year!!  I asked about this on my WordPerfect forum and the one reply was that most sites should provide a link or upload to something that will work, unless they haven't updated yet.  I thought I'd ask here, too, in case there's more to know.  Apparently it's not necessary to get something else ahead of time to be ready.

Offhand I can't place this situation.  I don't recall anything as Cassandra where she needed to touch someone, and that it would make them as dead.
