Oh, one more ... the

OLD DISCONNECTED TELEPHONEin Quentin's room.  [jawdrp] because it alone represents the single most frightening part of DS (IMO).

also agree with you on!  that phone was to me the most scary thing on DS there was a twilight zone
episode when an old lady gets calls from her dead love on her phone too which i always thought was pretty scary!
as someone said  sometimes less is more!

[wavey] These are my top three...

1.  The  MUSIC BOXby far!  My most wonderful DS revisited moment was the day the little replica (‘90’s version unfortunately NOT the original ‘60’s one) arrived in the mail!  For me it was the most beautiful and romantic symbol on DS and summed up how I related to the entire show.

2. After that I had to buy the replica of BARNABAS' ONYX RINGto go with the music box of course.  This ring was so prominent all through the show that it became a kind of icon.  Also, I thought the way Barn wore it on his forefinger was just cool.

3.  If it didn’t cost a fortune I’d also love to have the WOLF'S HEAD CANE aka the Willie Beater.  Not that I enjoyed seeing Willie get the daylights knocked out of him - it's just that it's such a beautiful piece of work to begin with.  As to the replica I've seen advertised on the Internet well, I just can’t go the $400 (probably more by now) so this will have to remain a pipe dream.  I've always thought the silver handle would be a nice DS inspired bracelet though it might cost even more to make that than it would to buy the cane. [nuts]

how nicely you put that Castlebee! I feel the same and feel that is why i love music boxes today What a romantic gift too!
i forgot about  the cane that was pretty cool!

People on this board have quite an imagination. Since I am coming from a totally different viewpoint here, I will mention that Craig Slocum had diabetes and also died from it. Sometimes diabetics get frequent thirst. That may explain the "licking his lips so much today" thing. I was in seventh heaven today watching Craig as Noah Gifford, he is one hunk of a pirate. BABE ALERT!

sorry Cheryl was making fun more of his outfit
i would think with good control that the symptoms
would be less but he had the worst kind of diabetes
and that is always hard to control! I thought it might be that he seemed nervous He was much better as Harry. Robin would also know about the disease I've taking care of way too many patients with it but since I don't have it it really is only second hand knowledge!
I pray we find a cure soon as I have a good friend who has a 15 year daughter and it is very hard!It is sad that Craig died so young!

What surprises me - even though they did have some EAP themes - was that DS did not borrow more heavily from the author with the mustache and black, wavy hair.  Considering how popular the Roger Corman/Vincent Price EAP movies were at that time (all of them very elegant), you'd think they would've done more swingin' with the pendulum

Hmm - I don't think they had to pay taxes in 1795 - at least not the kind of taxes we pay nowadays, right?

The present day Collins family had to pay taxes, however. I'm not sure how much but it must have been a lot. Elizabeth closed off most of the house (East and West wings) in order to secure a lowered property tax.

I can't help but find myself wishing that Nicholas or Angelique would put a spell on the IRS right now. >:(

i'm sure it is very little like most of the rich with all of their tax loops and breaks!

Thanks Steve. I am sure  it is the sentiment of all that I capture by saying it would have been nice to meet Mr. Briscoe.

Ditto Vam! I hope he knows what a fan following he still has!

It's toot-a-loo time for Maude Browning, Collinsport's number two trollop to buy the ranch (or, perhaps more accurately, to sleep with the fishes).

You know, when Nathan looked down upon Maude's corpse in the Rev. Trask's bed, I was half expecting a moment of inner dialogue, in which Nathan said to himself, "Gee, I always knew that this guy Trask was a little strange, but I never thought that he was into necrophilia."

To which an indignant Trask, sensing what Nathan was thinking, waved a crooked finger at him, and declared vehemently, "I did not have sexual relations with that woman, Ms. Browning!  I never told anyone to lie, not a single time.  Now, Nathan, I have to go back and do the witch-hunting business of the people of Collinsport, blah, blah, blah, ad nauseam."

So, as Maude Browning, a gal with a heart of gold, was wont to say, "Cheerio!"

Haha Bob
thought it was pretty funny when Nathan looked down and saw the arm he didn't think it was strange at first that she was "hiding" under the covers in that position.
His reaction was pretty funny though. he was so impressed that Trask would have a woman waiting for him!

Barnabas' vampire abilities have me quite puzzled.  The various things he did to frighten Trask - the voice, making the candles go out, the vision of the hand, dreams, etc. all seem to be things that Angelique as a witch would have done.  I've certainly never heard of vampire having those sorts of powers.  Back in the present, when he wanted to frighten Julia, he did something similar.  He told Carolyn a story about where he learned to do this (I forget just who the person was who had taught him).  I suppose this could have been the same thing, but it does seem rather strange.

Meanwhile, his "real" vampire abilities are quite suspect!  He does manage to turn into a bat and dematerialize at times.  He does manage to bite some people.  Given that he's surviving, he must be getting blood somewhere (we saw graphic evidence of that in the beginning).

However, most times when he goes to bite someone, he bares his fangs, they see it and scream (I always thought that a vampire had some sort of hypnotic power that prevented them from screaming or resisting).  So, he ends up trying to strangle them, and in most instances someone hears the screams and comes on the scene, forcing him to leave with the job undone!  He seems extremely inept!!

Josette
i thought the same things yesterday He just became a vampire so I could see him having troubles but all the things he did to Trask seem "advanced" and more like the powers of a witch! It was great to see Trask running around though!

Hey, it is my post and I can put in a horseshoe curve if I like to get the conversation going....  ::)No one has mentioned Briscoe's Chris Collins... ;)

hey Vam
as soon as i saw this post i thought
Chris Collins and Tony Peterson so did you leave them out for a reason ? wouldn't have picked any of the others! The worst was Peter Bradford! also loved when Barnabas tried I know you can represent yourself in a trial but can you represent others without being a lawyer?

I've noticed on my own post that some colors show up better than others :( .  Most of the time I cannot read them at work but then again I am not supposed to  be reading them at work so bad me.
Now I could read the blue just fine but once I posted in green and had to squint to see it. I love how some posters get so creative with their post. Some day I will learn how you all do it.

I have trouble reading some of the colors too  thought it was my computer because the color is off but i just end up highlighting some of the posts to read seems to work!
