Thanks Julia for that gorgeous photo of Barnabas and Julia ... THE Dark Shadows couple, as far as I'm concerned!
A lot of people see Barnabas and Julia as the model upon which the creator of X Files based his concept of Mulder and Scully's relationship. I haven't watched the series enough to comment upon that--I did see the X files film and could see a definite connection to this aspect of DS.
In terms of wish-we-could-have-seen-them couples. I think Chris Jennings and Joe Haskell would have made SUCH a cute pair. Joe could have moved out of that awful room and into the cottage, and they both could have had a lot of fun fixing it up. Plus, I bet Joe would have done a better job of dealing with Chris' hairy side than Sabrina managed to do.
Just my 2 drachmae,

Here's theCode: [Select][puke]
the countess- "i will send a psychic message." (through the psychic friends network?)
joshua "spock" collins - " there must be a logical explaination."
bathia mapes to the rescue - "there is madness locked in a room." (THAT was an understatement)
barnabas has a choice - follow an old hag's voice or chomping down on a floozie's neck
up in the tower room when angelique was speaking through barnabas to bathia i was waiting for him to say "your mother sucks ***** in hell." (sorry about that one.....i couldn't help myself)
i wonder what mr. mapes does

In honor of today's classic first episode, I thought that it would be fun if we shared our favorite bloopers. They don't necessarily have to be restricted to the blooper tape. Here are the categories:
Best Verbal Blooper (e.g. flubbed lines, name calling, etc.)
Bathia Mapes: "......("Go to the house of the curse")"
Honorable Mention--Roger Collins: "Several of my incestors are buried here."
Best Physical Blooper (e.g. falling sets, intrusive stagehands, camera equipment, flies, etc.)
Tie: Barnabas picks his nose/John Yeager tries to re-hang the portrait
Honorable Mention: Charles Tate's falling window shade
Best Recovery--Louis Edmonds: "The car rolled a hundred miles down the road--a hundred miles...it seemed like a hundred miles--a hundred feet down the road.
I've started this topic in the spirit of fun and don't intend for it to be a means of abusing the actors and actresses, for whom I have great respect. They created this enduring and memorable show under very trying circumstances, and probably couldn't help most of what happened to them. I hope that others will see it that way.

Joshua was always so cold. Not only in his manner, but the things he said. He never could understand about love and didn't seem to think it had anything to do with marriage. We've already commented on his true feelings coming out for his son in these recent episodes.
But, I'm always especially touched with this one when he finds the mad Millicent. All of the tragedies on top of one another have certainly gotten to him. He's clearly quite emotional by now when he's with Millicent. And, of course, Louis has portrayed it all so magnificently.
This is a picky thing to point out, but I'm going to do it anyway.....
NO ONE was persecuting (yes, I spelled that correctly) "Witches" in New England in 1795!! The DS writers took HUGE creative license with that one.
I know, I know, there wouldn't have been any SHOW if they couldn't have used "Witchcraft"....but honestly, if they were going to fling Vicky back in time, they could have sent her back to the 17th century right from the beginning and gotten it right.
Regarding Trasks motives and beliefs......IMHO that's all crap. There only ever was ONE motive for Witchhunting and that was power. The power to get an irritating mother-in-law off the fertile farmland....the power to get rid of a bitch-of-a-wife...the power to get your hands on your NEIGHBOR's wife....but mostly the power to keep the uneducated masses under SOMEBODY's thumb.
Trask's motive would have been want of a church of his own.
Okay, now I feel better....
End of Rant....

Here is a list of DS Doctors. Which in your opinion had the BEST bedside manner?
Dr Julia Hoffman (known for her tranquilizer distribution program)
Dr Dave Woodard (a martyr for the cause)
Dr Eric Lang (a specialist in body parts)
Dr Thornton (a conservator of leeches)
