When watching the accident last night my daughter and I found it very funny.  Jeff wasn't even in the road just on the side.  Hello Vicki, did you ever hear about brakes, no lets just drive into a tree.  Where did she learn how to drive a car?  Correspondents school.  Lets just say I don't think I would get in a car with her.lol.

Birdie--who is stuck in the house today, without a car. sob.  My car is getting new breaks.    No excuse not to do housework.

Birdie
there is always an excuse for not doing house work
like today i have a hang nail LOL!!
Would have been funny to see Barnabas try to drive!

Dr. Lang is just so. . .loud, obnoxious, pompous--and definitely brings out the worst in his fellow actors.

Bombastic, too!

He made a great Gorton's fisherman, pushing fish sticks in commercials, but he was just too overbearing for the role of Dr. Lang.

What do you all think of him thus far?

I think after the delicacy and sublime acting in the last few days of 1795/96, he's like a bull in a china shop!

Love, Robin

I'm with you Robin
i just looked up and can't believe he is in 30 episodes

Hey Gang,

When you are an overnight patient in the hospital, you learn (rather quickly) to overcome any feeling of embarrassment as a result of some necessary medical procedure.

It's rather difficult for a guy to maintain his dignity when a rather large, middle-aged female nurse comes into your room and tells you to rollover on your side, so that she can take your "temperature."  What's a guy supposed to say to the nurse while she's "checking" your body temperature, "Hey, how did the Mets and Yankees do tonight?"

I can just imagine if that Nurse Ratched lookalike came into Barnabas' room to take his "temperature."  As the nurse "checked" him out, Mr. B. would probably look at her with an insouciant expression on his face and say, "You should feel honored, nurse, I usually only let Dr. Hoffman perform this test on me."

Bob the Bartender, who shudders when he remembers those mass Army physicals.

Please Bob not all of us nurses are large and middle aged well maybe sort of middle aged! LOL!
And now we take your temp in your ear Thank goodness!

I'm sorry, it just seems so weird with Barnabas laying in that hospital bed in him jam-jams.  It didn't bother me when he wore his eighteenth century retirement attire, but just seeing him in those Kresge's clearance table specials was just - well - I don't know.  (At least they're better than one of those hospital gowns which allow everyone to see your business when you bend over.)  It makes me ponder - did he ever wear jammies when he retired to his casket?  Can anyone imagine him heading down those cellar steps, bushy bedroom slippers on his feet, winding an alarm clock and setting it next to the coffin before he closed the lid?

Gerard

ROTFL Gerard

but have to add it is much easier to care for patients when they "johnies' on and we do provide pants
but   want to know if Kresges is still around. i don't think i've heard that name in 30 years!
Barnabas did look cute though but i did laugh to think of a vampire in pjs!

I'll give her b and c but she can forget a (Meow!). As Vlad said
and I'm pretty sure her memory of it goes back to the original broadcast.

I work with two women who are almost exactly my age and NEITHER of them ever watched the show!  I can't believe it - it's like a vast wasteland.  I count on the boards to make me feel sane!

there are a few people who i work with who never
even heard of it either CastleBee!

The Collins Family Tree is nicely maped out on pages 90 & 91 in Kathryn Leigh Scott's DARK SHADOWS ALMANAC (millennium edition) for those who are interested.

i was looking at it today because the other day I think
Elizabeth said Daniel was her great great grandfather
and i thought that can't be right if i read it right makes him her great great great great grandfather as it goes
Liz, Jamison,Edward unkownchild, Gabriel, Daniel
this is acording to the tree in DS almanac(30th)Does anyone know?

jenniferI i told you i hate housework :o)

I know there are a number of people who post here that are unhappy about the apparently unlikely possibility that DS will ever be "recreated" by FOX or the SciFi channel.....

I was just wondering, am I the only DS fan who HATES the idea of attempting to re-create the series?  I've never understood the urge to RE-MAKE something that was already done once.

I've never seen a movie re-make that I honestly thought was better than the original, and I tend to assume that people who do re-makes are lacking in sufficient creativity to do something original themselves.

It always seems to be about the money someone thinks it might generate. And in this case it was tried once and failed....why would someone try again?

But that's just me, wondering.
Rainey

No Rainey I'm with you i didn't really like the 1991
series for that reason! i do like the fan fiction  stories
of what might have happened though and Mark Rainey's book !  i feel that why also about a lot of remakes too!
quess there is only one Barnabas & Company for me! :-*

SPOILER.......SPOILER.........SPOILER............SPOILER........

When did 1840 Josette cheat on Barnabas? If you're referring to Melanie's conception, I was under the impression that Barnabas had already died when this took place. Did I miss something here? ?!?

I think you are right Cassandra  that's why it happened!
i think Justin "comforted" her in his own way!

There aeen't too many I'd pick from this list but
Flora(1840) and Namoi would probaly top my list
Elizabeth is a goo mother but that recluse thing wasn't too healthy
Angelique (any) ick Hardly maternal
Laura nah  that fire thing
Edith as Rhett said to Scarlett a cat is a better mother!
Megan not really a mother but a mindcontrolled caretaker
have to pick those that i would think would have been good mothers
Daphne RT and PT
Maggie( if people would stop trying to drive her crazy!)
Leitica
Melanie
Pansy Faye( better than above list)
Sabrina (she was loyal)
thanks Vam

One of our local morning news shows was doing a segment today where they invited people to email in their vote for the best TV show based on the TV Guide top 50 list.  I emailed them “Forget the TV Guide list…my favorite show is Dark Shadows!” They didn’t read the entire line but they did mention DS.  The female anchor said something like “I can’t believe someone remembered this one…Dark Shadows…it used to scare me to death!”  Well it was a plug – a really small plug – but a plug just the same! LOL!  ;D

Great CastleBee
when i saw that list i looked for DS and couldn't believe
it wasn't there! :o

Oh, I think the torn frock was NOTHING compared to that Lemon-Orange Chiffon THING she was wearing in bed today!!  How does one sleep wrapped in a pile of curtains?!!  Ugly curtains to boot?  :P

On the other hand, I thought Julia's grey suit was actually pretty nice.  Very tailored and smart.....like the good doctor herself!

Rainey.....who should leave the Fashion Notes to Luciaphil, who knows what she's talking about.

I think the headband and bow made the outfit though Rainey!

jennifer(last time i wore a bow i think i was 5 LOL)
(also thought Liz's dress looked like drapes my granmother had up!)
