I think Carolyn's age, like many other things on DS, fluctuated according to the need of the storyline.  On one hand, Liz has not left Collinwood before Carolyn was born.  And then later Liz never left Collinwood after Carolyn was two-years-old.  I guess we should just take both, add them together, divide by half, and that'll be the age of Carolyn when her mother isolated herself, and give us Carolyn's age at the beginning of the series.  The birth records office in the Collinsport county courthouse must be a real mess.

I had the chance to meet Marie Wallace at the 2003 Brooklyn Marriot DS Fest.  She was, without a doubt, one of the nicest, sweetest people I've ever met.  She spent endless time just talking with me and my friends.  She is one, classy, elegant lady.

I can't believe that it was 39 years ago when I saw the trailer for DS after watching some show preceding it (I don't remember what it was anymore) and decided to see what this thing with the spooky music in the promo was all about.  I've never looked back.

Both episodes (from The MTM Show and Rhoda) are classics of comedy.  Mary's inability to keep from laughing at the funeral is hillarious, and Phyllis forgetting to pick up Rhoda for her wedding is a howl.

Who did David Groh play on DS?  I can't remember now.

Anyway back to the Leviathans. This story line also had Zombies in it. Being from Pittsburgh, I always love a good Zombie. They just "liven" up the place.

When I lived in Pittsburgh, I loved going to the mall where they filmed the first sequel, Dawn of the Dead.  Of course, by the time I was living there the mall had changed greatly from when they made that movie (I think the ice rink was already gone).  And then when they released the remake last summer, I was tickled that they had moved the location from Pittsburgh to Milwaukee, being a Wisconsinite, so I came full circle.  Of course, it wasn't filmed in Milwaukee, but in Toronto (using one of their malls), but the thought was there.

I always enjoyed the Leviathan story line.  At first, I thought I was a "loner" in this, but now I see there are others who have this vice!  (My least favorite was the Adam plot - I loathe it to this day.)  When I first saw it as a junior-high-schooler, I found it creepy and eerie, always wanting to know what that monster-in-the-room looked like, since its very appearance drove people into insanity.  Barnabas becoming evil again (at least temporarily) caused me great angst.  And I felt such sympathy for the Todds.  Having Angelique become good, and even emotionally vulnerable, really appealed to me.  I so hoped that Carolyn and her father would have a forever-loving relationship, and it was headed towards that happy conclusion, but for those of you who have seen it, that was not meant to be.  There was just so much, especially in character development, twists and turns, that I really had an appreciation for it.

Now, that is a blast from the past!  Did we all really use to dress like that?  Back then, I thought it was so modern, and that nothing could ever replace the "stylishness" of it.  Remember jeans jackets?  They were just so cool.  I wore several out.

Gosh, I can't remember what the previews were, but I do remember that for HoDS, the first movie (this was when virtually all movies were "double features") was a western, but I don't recall its name.  When I saw NoDS, it was double-featured with HoDS.  Also, for the matinee showings, it cost a whopping seventy-five cents.  My mother thought that was outrageous, considering that just a couple years or so before, the matinee price for children was thirty-five cents.

Add another vote for Josette's ghost walking out of the portrait.  Also, close for me in how it was executed, the scene in which
Alexis touches Angeliquie's dead body in the coffin, bringing it to life, and the two have their momentary nice, little chat - both characters visible in rather well done split screen.
Wasn't Carolyn born in 1947 (she was two years old when her father took off in 1949)?  That would make her 19 when the show started.

Anyway, I hypothesize that while Carolyn was growing up, Elizabeth might have kept the apron strings a tad too tight, resulting from her paranoia over thinking she had murdered her husband, not allowing Carolyn to leave the confines of Collinsport much, even attending college elsewhere.  So her daughter felt trapped in a backwater town, with, as Nancy Barrett described the character, having "too much money and too much hair" and not being able to do all the Paris Hilton things a young, wealthy heiress would want to do.  So, she often became rebellious and daring within the confines of her social prison, resulting in such risque-taking behaviors as boozing it up every night at the Blue Whale, trying to hit on Burke Devlin, and finally doing the ultimate rebellion at what she thought was her own mother's self-destructive behavior by wanting to marry the biker.

My goodness, I haven't thought about UFO in years, if not decades.  I remember that the aliens breathed a liquid atmosphere, and wore helmets filled with the substance.

The passing of another DS alumnus is always so sad.  Dana Elcar was great as George Patterson.  I find it a bit ironic that his passing came so closely to that of Anne Bancroft, whom I always viewed as the best possible pick to play Elizabeth Collins Stoddard in any remake - including the attempted WB version - of the show.

Yes, like a "Smallville" version of DS!

Whenever I see that episode, I pretend that he is, in fact, Quentin, using an alias as he continues his search for Amanda Harris.  Every few decades, he has to "vanish" as whatever persona he is using, and end up somewhere else as a whole new character.
