I always wondered wondered why Willie ran to the cemetery to warn Barnabas when he should have done nothing.  At least he wouldn't have made it so obvious he made the call.

I always thought that Barnabas had his portrait done so that he could actually see himself as he is now in the present, with modern clothes.

On the old thread about a vampire needing to be invited in, Mrs. Johnson did invite him into Collinwood when he first arrived, so perhaps the writers were using the invitation idea.  A diner is a public place, so he wouldnt have to be invited in.

Barnabas knows the reason why Jason & Willie are at Collinwood but not the whole thing- only as much as Willie knows, so he probably doesn't know about the Liz & Paul situation.

Too bad we never got to see Willie explaining everything to Barnabas once he is released from the coffin.
In HODS, this apparently took place at the Blue Whale.  Here, it was most likely in the secret room.

Imagine Barnabas' reaction to seeing the the crowbar & pully on his mothers coffin, he must have been enraged at what Willie was trying to do.

Thats really odd that only a month before 1795, they portrayed Barnabas as being more evil then originally thought.

In the original discussion for this episode, it was stated that Barnabas at first was made into a vampire then chose to become one and then made into one again.

The part about him choosing to be a vampire...
Is this when he is with Julia on Widows Hill telling the story of Josette, about a month before 1795?  This is the episode when they learn Burke's plane had crashed.
I always wonder what the viewers at the time this originally aired thought when that hand came out of the coffin.  I imagine a nationwide simultaneous gasp!

Most likely this was seen by mainly housewives as it was still a basically unfamiliar show.

Unfortunately, after the next episode, Mrs. Johnson will be taking a very long break.  I'm surprised Burke didn't have her spy on this new cousin in town!

I didn't mind the removal of that blooper as it was from a voice off stage.  Makes that scene better to me.

Remember, everyone has 4 great-grandmothers.  Its could have been one of the other three.

However...
In the episode where Willie leaves Collinwood, to live with Barnabas, he tries to tell Liz something (about Barnabas I believe) and stops.  When Jason gets him alone outside he says to Willie "Were you going to blow the whistle on me?
Well we now know that Jason hasn't told Willie exactly WHAT he has over Elizabeth...probably a smart move, because I can so see Willie using that as a weapon to be able to stay on at Collinwood.

Nowadays, I stay to the very end of movies because so many of them have an added scene at the end of the credits.

I believe that Lela Swift persuaded DC to get rid of Hall, that she sensed something about the actor wasn't right.

This was JH's last filmed episode.

While the 1991 Willie Loomis was too over the top, I did like Jim Fyfe's portrayal of 1790 Ben Loomis, who was more of a normal character.

There is one funny scene in 1790 where Ben clumsily gets in Angelique's way and she says something like "Get of my way you fool!"
