Current Talk '08 II / Re: DS Redux: Your Vision?
« on: July 28, 2008, 06:29:47 AM »
Personally, I hope that, in the event of a new series, we don't get Barnabas until Season 2 and get the first season dedicated to a storyline to ease us into the new versions of the characters. That was one of my big problems with the '91 show. I've actually thought about this to the extent where I've figured out how several plot points would be done, including the introduction of Julia, not through Maggie's kidnapping, but through Bill Malloy's murder. I've been considering typing it up into a fanfiction piece, so I don't want to reveal any more than that.

And now I revisit the thread where my very first post was made.

I don't know how I missed it the first time around, but:

Quentin: Road Movie to Berlin [They Might Be Giants]

Perfect for him due to the references to drinking and the other lyrics that can be applied to the Quentin/Amanda/Mr. Best storyline; even moreso with Frank Black's cover version, which adds another verse.

Oh, let's not be too hard on her. When I joined my first forum a few years ago, it took me a while to get the hang of things.

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Dark Shadows makes you insane?

I've told far more Dark Shadows jokes than non-DS jokes ever since I started watching the show; not insults to the show, mind you, but random jokes, some of which are so stupid, juvenile, politically incorrect, or all three that I won't share them with you. In short, my warped sense of humor has been applied to the show in insane ways.

Julia was shocked when she read the slogan on Quentin's shirt: "I made you lose .5 seconds of your life by reading this."

Yes, all of those were most certainly Lovecraftian.

Thank you, Midnite. I had only found that out through Wikipedia, and it listed her character as a doctor. Yet another example of why Wikipedia is not to be totally trusted.

I just pictured Jasmine when Gina Torres was mentioned. Seeing as how that was about 5 years ago now, she may have changed quite a bit, so I'm going back to Sarah Michelle Gellar or Halle Berry for that role. Thanks to Taeylor for reminding me of her age.

Anyway, for Rev. Trask, how about an actor who's similar to the character? What freaky religious fanatics can we get to play a freaky religious fanatic? I can just picture Trask yelling about witches while hopping up and down on the sofa.

Julia probably provided them with some medical care we didn't get to see, as well.

And I agree that everyone else thought that Barnabas and Julia were having quite a lot of fun *cough* working on that book.

Random fact: On a crime show (Cold Case, I think), Amber Benson played a doctor named Julia Hoffman.

I like the idea of Benson as Victoria. I also like Gina Torres as Angelique and Summer Glau as Josette. Then again, maybe I'm just biased for Whedon alumni. [ghost_tongue2]

There are dozens, if not hundreds, of books, films, and even video games (Alone in the Dark, Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, and Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened are probably the most notable examples) that use Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos as inspiration. Some even believe the mythos to be fact.

This is why, in the future, I should pick my brain for comments from the actors before I go *BAM* on the post button. [ghost_wacko]

Current Talk '08 II / Re: Tim Burton REMAKE/RE-IMAGINING report card
« on: July 28, 2008, 03:12:12 AM »
Because Tim Burton is directing the movie, I'm sure that, like all Burton films I've seen, I'll really parts of it and strongly dislike others. Well, no, actually I think the two "Ed" movies were basically masterpieces, but I digress. Anyway, I'll definitely see the movie, and won't complain about most aspects of it until I've done so. Of course, if he does something completely insane like move the story to ancient Mesopotamia, I'll probably skip it.

He was hardly getting anything special. Barnabas - 40 IQ points + Johnny Cash makeover = Bramwell. If he had known what the writers were going to give him, he likely would have stayed as Barnabas.

Can you use your floating head to attack them in the night? I know that that feature is provided by BBS, but I don't know about SMF.
