does anyone remember the scene where Lieutenant Forbes brings a plate of food to the hidden out Vicki at the under construction Collinwood ??  she she makes the remark or something like "I am famished" and proceeds to maybe eat a crumb or 2 as they talk. That is not exactly how i eat when famished  :@)  ...Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

the age differences always did seem peculiar..Barnabas to me looked older than his cousin.errrrr...uncle Jeremiah from the 1795 storyline...and the Barnabas-Sarah siblings did seem to be a stretch. ok..think when we see Josettes grave it shows her to be about 21 when she died...so, do we assume that Barnabas was maybe 25-30?. But when we see his first appearence in 1967 after his long rest, (still wouldnt have wanted to be the first to open that coffin , shewwwww), it seems that he was close to the age of Roger, maybe early 40s? even Tony Peterson commented about  Carolyn being in "that old mans arms"...I guess being confined to a coffin for 172 years ages you maybe 17 years . I see, 10 confinement years =1 aging year......as for 1897, its a bit more believeable about the 4 siblings, although quite a difference from the 2 oldest and youngest . They did a pretty good job though on Jerry Lacy and aging him, really didnt think twice about him and Minerva being married, or of another one he wants to get to know better.....

Current Talk '02 II / heck of a show today
« on: November 22, 2002, 12:38:43 AM »
today was one of those episodes that endeared most of us to just how cheesey dark shadows can be. First of all, we have the dashing hero Tim Shaw, rushing into the burning room. but it looked like only half the room was burning, as we see him put a coat over his head and not one flame to be seen. Then our hero, amidst the flames, grabs up nora, and in what looks like he has a corn cob rammed up his rear, exits the burning room in about as horribly contorted face as you could imagine.  Then as they are far enough away from the fire to turn back and look at the inferno, that scene was worse than any 1950s japanese Godzilla movie. And finally, the 3 of them arrive back at collinwood, none the worse for their ordeal, cept for Laura being exhausted, probably from watching Shaw tote nora the entire way, and the foyer is filled with smoke....gotta love it!

kuanyin....that does seem to be a logical theory, god getting revenge for betraying his son, for SILVER pieces, and the cross and such...i wont go into the ann rice theory much, but its a malevolent spirit than can, when angered, prick a person when really steamed...well, as it happens, the king and queen of kemet are attacked with knives, and amel(the evil spirit) finds a direct path into them through their wounds.....this spirit was always envious of people with bodies, he had always wanted to live in a body as well, so he got the opportunity....the queen is suddenly revived, administers the blood to the dying king and alas, the first 2 vampires...lol.....i am sure most folks in here have read the story, but i thought it quite imaginitave, as well as the judas story.

With all this talk about vampires, i cant help but think of Ann Rice and her vampire chronicles.. I knew that to become a vampire, one must become a victim of a vampire(and in most cases, drink from the vampire). But, i had always wondered how vampirism had came to be...In Bram Stokers dracula(by Coppola i believe) we see Vlad cursing God, sticking a sword into the cross, blood gushing, him drinking and saying he would rise from his own death to avenge his wifes death(hmmmmmm)...if everyone that ever cursed god became vampires, the woods would be full of them...And in Stokers novel, i dont think they ever explain how he came to be.. The Novel "Queen of the Damned" gives an interesting detail as to how the first Vampire came into being(i dont know about the movie, heard it was a pile of doooooooo)...It seems now i am comparing all other vampire related works with how She wrote hers, cause at least she took the time to give a detailed account into how they came to be...I have also heard that her "interview" was loosely based on ds, as William H Loomis had Barnabas locked in that coffin..

i remember seeing that tombstone earlier, and one that usually likes to point out goofs, but, there is one everyday almost, totally forgot that one.. i am sure the person in charge of tombstones put it in never thought it would come into view, and being so thrifty, probably didnt have any others to fill up the scene. great for the cheese lovers.

Dracula was always my favorite of the Univeral monsters.  I've always had a thing for vampires.  That's what drew me to Dark Shadows in the first place.  I couldn't believe it, a television show with a vampire as the star!  I did get alittle excited though the last time I saw the Mummy and they spoke of Anubis.

[I always thought it was interesting that Joe Haskell was probably the only character anywhere who was attacked by the top three universal monsters. a vampire, frankenstein monster and werewolf. ]

well, i think they missed their chance with the mummy also, cause soon we find out that

Quentin had recently been in Egypt. ok  so, just on a whim, he decides to buy a mummy while he is over there, brings it back in the sarcofugus (sp). and he hangs with quentin in his room..Quentin later pisses Angelique off, and as revenge, she burns those leaves, or casts a spell to raise the mummy, and the mummy then harasses quentin and others...but, when he becomes the wolfman, they duke it out, and barnabas gets involved   lol......a vampire, a mummy and werewolf going at it, heck, thats better than any ppv wrestling nonsense, and about as real..then all we would need is adam to be whisked back to 1897.

« on: October 31, 2002, 12:34:50 AM »
in the 30`s, universal studio came out with some classic monster movies, a part of my childhood was spent watching these movies, and others that werent so classic  B horror i think they would be called...Who was your favorite monster ?  We had the Frankenstein monster....Dracula.......The Wolfman.....and The Mummy as the big 4....and others i cant recall....(scariest scene i can recall was when Larry Talbot transforms into the wolfman...i dont know why, but that scared the %#&* out of me.)

i also think that quentin really cares for jamison, but that will not stop him from taking advantage of his innocence, quentin is sort of a weasel, will go to any lengths to get what he wants, including subjecting him to dangerous black arts mumbo jumbo, to going  to grandmamamamamamas funeral and running back to the  Q  to tell him  she was buried, to petty thievery.
