Well, Rainey covered most of what I'd say...boy, are you talented.

Where's the pic of Julia looking in the hand-held mirror from?

Thanks for posting,

because the theater was one of those elaborate Art Deco gems (chandeliers, a fountain in the lobby, gold gilding - a stage that had hosted musicals and plays starring some of the biggest names in entertainment from the '40s through to the '70s

MB :D mine too!!! With the great exception it wasn't torn down. And, about 7 years ago when Hurricane Floyd was our way, the 'Brook Theatre' again took a big hit. I've heard (and read in the newspaper) that it was being re-renovated, but still in the great style.

Also, I didn't realize at the time, but the Brook Theatre was like a 2nds movie house (I must've seen Willie Wonka and Oliver more than 20 times!)

Well, I actually! went to dinner & the movies this evening (my 10yr old daughter & I).
Here are some reasons I was thinking of my cousins:

(First of all,,,hello....COMMERCIALS at the beginning? :o Pepsi, Buick, Gatoraid...oish!!)
Okay...on to the coming attractions, which really made me think of y'all:

One is a movie with Kurt Russell, whose son is going to his alma mater, because? he is a super hero? (And, do I vaguely remember K. Russell in a movie as an action hero??) In a small tiny clip, I saw (at least I think I saw) Linda Carter (wonder woman!!)

Next clip, was the new Lindsay Lohan movie about a certain German car....anyone remember Herbie? This must have been out around the same time as at least the 2nd DS movie..
So, I thought of you all with Linda Carter & Herbie.

BTW...my movie was 'Shark Boy and Lava Girl'. I never heard of it....but...
It was the first 3-D movie I've ever seen

Okay...who here with a loooong memory can remember what 'previews' were shown during either NoDS or HoDS?
Was Herbie out the same time? (I realize there were what, about 3-4 Herbie movies.)

Thanks,

Patti

This a.m. before work, I saw my first commercial for the new "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory".

They said the line
Violet, you're turning violet, Violet!

Wouldn't you say  this line is one of the most memorable from the orig. film?

That was neat!!

I just realized, for some of our newbies, who are young, you may not realize that Denise Nickerson was in the orig. movie "Willie Wonka".

But a DVD burner on my computer wouldn't help unless DS was online, right? (if I'm following your line of thinking oh great one 8) )

Patti....$200 is still out of range....especially since I still don't know what size is up on a non-pictured DVD/CD :-[

probably Maggie, and if they had a little girl, he would call her Beth.

Qu'elle cheezee!

But Terry308, I agree, in a round about way, Quentin loved Beth.

I just think that he was used to so much rancor & stress, that a 'simple' love wouldn't have held his interest...too 'easy' if you will.

Wow Bette ;) thanks!! (sounds like some reporters at CBS, NBC and ABC didn't do their homework).

But, between you, me & the post button, do we really think they'll be around that much longer?

Oh well. And MB, I wasn't clear, I shouldn't of said recordable DVDs, I should've said the machines that record onto DVDs.

Thanks,

Patti

Calendar Events / Announcements '05 I / Changing Times...No More VHS
« on: June 14, 2005, 01:15:52 PM »
The main business news on this a.m.'s news was that after Christmas, Walmart will no longer be carrying VHS tapes (the news stated just like the other retailers are doing).

I wonder if this will lead to cheaper prices on recordable DVDs and WHEN OH WHEN will 'they' air DS again for us to tape/record?
