David Hennessy is simply amazing in these episodes.  His work as "Petofi" is some of the  best acting the series has to offer.   [ghost_smiley]

Why does Charity seemingly go in and out of her "possession" while the others don't?

There's some truly wicked black humor in this section of the story...one funny scene after another as people are forced to reveal all the truths about themselves that they work so hard to keep hidden.

Favorite moment in this episode:  when informed by Trask that Edward thinks he is a servant, Evan responds sympathetically,  "How horrible,"  as if it were a fate worse than death.  How's that for class condescension!

I love the voiceover of Jamison/Petofi as he goes through the list of his present and future victims.  There's something almost creepily poetic about it.

That quick transition from befuddled child to manipulative adult at the moment when Jamison kisses his father, thereby passing the curse on to him, shows just what an extraordinarily fine child actor David Hennessy was.

There's actually quite a bit of dark humor to much of this section as each character is forced to act in ways totally different from how they usually are.

I agree.  Jamison's intense devotion to and affection for Count Petofi was straight out of left field.

I notice, too, that Petofi lifted his suitcase with his "bad" hand.  Interesting.

They needed a great cliffhanger that weekend. After all, it was competing with the 1st moon walk - which would happen three days later - for attention!

Funny how Charity could be so plain yet Carolyn so smoking hot!

Emeraldrose - I found your timeline to be absolutetly hysterical.  Damn, those folk sure do move fast in Collinwood, but then I've never seen a place where so much happens in the wee hours of the morning, when just about everyone seems to be awake and dressed to the nines.  I mean, weren't there just some days when Quentin wanted to putter around the house and not be sporting a three-piece suit for the occasion?

I was struck with how much Thayer David sounded like Professor Stokes in this episode, especially in his conversation with Quentin.

Imagine how much of a kick it must have been for Clarice to be able to show up for work and pick up a paycheck without having to memorize any lines!

Pansity - anybody who references "Carnival of Souls" in a post is alright with me!

Just a personal note on this episode.  It originally aired on July 1, 1969, the day when my family moved from New Jersey to California (I was 10).  I guess I missed this one the first time around (unless they had an in-flight showing of it that I don't remember).  I'm glad I was able to catch up with it in the years since.

There seem to be an unusual number of plot holes and inconsistencies in this episode.  Why does it appear at the beginning as if Barnabas has just awakened from his daily "sleep" when all the events in the previous episode obviously happened at night when Quentn was under the effects of the moon?

And why does Barnabas suddenly seem to have powers over people before he actually bites them?  He is even able to make the policeman forget everything that happens to him in the time Barnabas is there.  How convenient it would have been for Barnabas to have had that ability in earlier situations, most notably the one involving his abduction of Maggie.  He wouldn't have had to rely on Julia's gaudy, magical amulet to erase her memory.

And, finally, why does he go out and confront Edmund instead of just disappearing?

If Charity were to marry Quentin, wouldn't that mean that she and Trask would then be in-laws in addition to being father and daughter?   [ghost_embarrassed]

I notice that when the younger guys become vampires (i.e. Tom Jennings, now Dirk) they get all crazed and creepy, while an older gentleman like Barnabas retains all his Old World charm and fits right into the social milieu of which he is a part.  BTW, I think Roger Davis makes an effective creature of the night.  He is actually pretty creepy and scary in this role.

Lordy, EmeraldRose, don't tell me you're in one of those mixed marriages!   [ghost_wink]

I wonder who was responsible for that great shot of Quentin and Angelique embracing against the portrait in the foyer as Barnabas in absentia looked down on them.   That's quite a cozy little menage a trois there!

I'm a little fuzzy on this.  I always got the impression with Chris that his amnesia began at some point after he started to transform into the werewolf, that he at least got the chance to see and remember his arms and hands turning hairy - otherwise how would he ever know that he even was a werewolf and not just the victim of some inexplicable violent blackouts?

Quentin, however, seems not to have remembered that stage of the transformation at all.
