Angelique Wins, I tried PMing you... Are you going to tell us more about your skit "A Pirate's Maine Treasure"?  :D

Dear Midnite, I would be delighted   [angl2]
To tell of my tale of love requited
And un, of course, if you know the tale
Of our Collinsport women and their missing males.
I've been away, and thanks for asking
(We'll pause now while the author is basking
In mem'ries of comments good and pleasureful)
About my play of the pirate's treasureful.
In Collinsport, we did begin
Adamsgirl and Angelique Wins
We found Josh Collins still not wed
And Naomi would wait on her heart, she said.
Then on the sea our Naomi
Did hold at bay with zucchini-play
A pirate bold and Josh-in-the-hold
Jewels, gold, wealth untold,
Love at first sight, a future bright
"Ah sweet mystery of love"
Did end the play I've mentioned above
And at the end our tribute song
¢â‚¬ËœBout our DS, still going strong
Now 40 years--how quick they flew--
To our DS we're ever true!
Thus my synopsis truly ends
Thanks, Adamsgirl!
Love, Angelique Wins!

Hi Everybody!!!

I had SUCH a blast at the Fest!!!!  NY! NY!  Would have loved to have seen more of it.  I've only been to JFK a gazillion years ago, and that was it.  But this time, I walked over the Brooklyn Bridge with friends Diane and Sunny and cruised the waterfront, had French fries and a Pepsi at a waterfront cafe right across from the water taxi, and took the water taxi back.  Saw the Statue of Liberty from a distance!!!  That was it for me, tourist-wise!  I wanted to see EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY at the Fest.

Lara Parker, Kathryn Leigh Scott, both funny, warm and gracious!  And BETSY DURKIN!!!!  Glad everybody had the same opinion I did about her.  In the words of Sister Mary Clarence of Sister Act, "Don't you just LOVE HER?"   [love7]

She was sooo sweet.  And it wasn't that I was shocked that she was nice or anything.  It's just that I didn't expect to go to the Fest and have long conversation with her.  Her FIRST comment to me was at the Gala when I was in costume for our play and was about how nice my costume looked.  And then the next day, when I asked her if she'd sign my program, she said, "Sure!  So did your play go all right last night?  I couldn't stay, but you that was a great costume you had on.  I hoped your play went well."

Then I asked her how much the pictures that she had were.  She told me, but then pointed to her book, "Dressing the Man You Love:A Woman's Guide to Purchasing, Coordinating and Caring for His Classic Wardrobe" and I grinned and said, "Sorry, Betsy, but I don't have a man to dress."  And she looked at me and very sincerely went, "Well, originally I was going to try to include a man with the book but it didn't work out."  LOL!  I LOVE her!!!  I was sorry that I missed most of her talk--I had to leave, cause I was FREEZING in the auditorium so I missed most of it.  I had to run back up to my room and get a BLANKET and a sweater.   I think I was sitting under an airconditioning vent.  I was practically blue.

I did catch the beginning.  It was SOOO cute though, when they showed a few Vicki/Jeff scenes where Jeff has realized [spoiler]that he IS from the past and he's telling her he has to go back and she can't come and "Remember I love you..." [/spoiler] And then they stopped the tape and it was her turn at the podium and she was crying!  She was so sweet.  She wiped her eyes and she goes, "Oh dear!  I haven't seen that in YEARS and it just got to me!!!"

That night (Sat) was the first time I talked to her briefly, before the Gala, and then the next day was when I got her autograph.  I went right back and bought a photo from her...the one you've all seen--Joan Bennett, JF, Betsy, and Denise Nickerson at the rehearsal table.  I told her I didn't know if I should get the one I recognized (that one) or one of how she looks today.  So she told me that as a DS fan, I'd probably get more out of the one I just mentioned, cause it was a DS rehearsal pic.  I said, "Good point, you SOLD me!"  Then after that, we talked about Vicki and I told her my thoughts on Vicki's fate.  I didn't know iif she had followed the show after, and I told her that I had my fan fic up online and that is what the next storyline is going to be.  She said that she just might have to take a look at it.

She was just SO warm and friendly and caring.  She seemed like a genuine sweetheart.   Go Betsy!!!  [cheer]

And I made it to the Gala this year!  Yay me!!!  Yay us!  Judy and Diane --and  Lali came and joined us for the DS Anthem!!!  Thanks guys!!!

That's all for now.  Just wanted to add my two cents worth for now!!!

They are cool looking, I must say.  But I never understood how Barnabas the Vampire could stand to TOUCH the silver when silver (as in bullets) should have been akin to Cryptonite for him in that condition.  Vampire-lore entusiasts, correct?  Or no?

That reminds me of another scene where Barnabas and Julia are in search of Megan's coffin.  Currently a vamp himself, Barnabas asks Julia if she has the tools she needs for "protection."  She turns to him and gives him a big smile, reaches into her purse, and flashes her silver cross at him.  He nods and gives her a smile, as if to say, "Excellent, good job."  And they finished the scene with me sitting there with my mouth open, then doing my 'bots impression.  "Hello?  Excuse me!  Vampire here!"

Current Talk '05 I / Re: Willie's name
« on: May 24, 2006, 12:09:01 AM »
I wondered about Willie's middle name too, and was watching the end of the Leviathan episodes for research for my fan fic, when I happened on the episode where Hoffman, I think it was, threw Willie's book out through the door--episode 971, I think.  Barnabas picked it up, and the front of the book was on camera.  The book showed that the author was "William Hollingsford Loomis."  But every time someone said it out loud, it was "Hollingshead."  It seemed especially odd when Barnabas was holding the book, but saying "William Hollingshead Loomis."   Maybe it was a blooper the first time and they just stayed with it?

Didn't they also use it for "our" Willie's middle name as well?  Were both names used then?

Only one left - Angelique. I felt his declaration in 1840 was way, way out of character. I couldn't believe a word of it. For me it was just a way for the writers to tie up the storyline to change everything to PT and the characters suffered for it. Him telling her that he'd forgiven her - perhaps in the hope it might give her peace - would have been much more believable and a lot more powerful. Best of all, it wouldn't have belittled so many people he loved (Josette, his family in 1795, Victoria...etc - honestly, that's what bothers me most of all).

*Ducks flying brandy glasses*, ;)

I just BOUIGHT those glasses too!!!  Oh well.  They gave their lives for a good cause...

I've got a good one!!!!  This "came" to me while working on my fan fic (which is conveniently posted on my website  ;D  )   Almost EVERY time I type "Collinsport," I end up typing:

[flower]"COLLINSPROUT" [flower]

I have no idea where the 'u' comes from, but there it is.  And I thought, what a GREAT name for a local florist/nursery store!  Or maybe a garden supply place?  VERY necessary.  Where else can you go to troublehoot your pesky back terrace fountain that spews water until anybody walks by, or has a secret to share, and then shuts itself off?

If this was the 1960/70s, I'd have to say it would be a "natural foods" restaurant.  We had one in our town in the early 70s, so I'm SURE it would be a happening thing there!   Not to mention, it sounds vaguely 'anti-establishment.'  Carolyn would LOVE it.   LOL!

Yay!  I've got one!!!!  This is in the Leviathan story when the "powers that be" get disrupted.  Bruno complains to Nicholas, "All of our dead are turning into skeletons!!!"  lol!

Also the ghost of Peter Bradford tells Jeb, "There's only one way to kill you, and that's drowning!  I did it before and I'll do it again."  Or something similair.  You HAVE to go, "Peter, Peter, Peter...he obviously didn't STAY dead, did he?"

Current Talk '06 I / Re: Thoughts on 1840
« on: May 05, 2006, 06:42:49 AM »
I caught most of the 1840 episodes and 1840PT the last time the show was aired.  Hadn't seem them since 70/71.  I had forgotten how incredibly annoyed I was the way the Barn/Angelique story ended.  That's one of the things that actually prompted me to write my OWN ending.   [angl]  Scenes I missed?  Didn't you want a scene between Ang and Julia battling over WHOSE method would work best to help BARN?  Or realize that they needed to work together? Could you have easily LOST the entire TRIAL?  Ew.

And one HAD to wonder what in the world JULIA was up to.  A gunshot, yelling, fighting, and Barn bellowing JULIA!!!!  It took the next episode before she came wandering down the stairs.  (ok, I know it wasn't her day to be on payroll, but still.)

And please.  That WHOLE house/estate and NONE of the servants saw Trask sneaking in 'the back way'?  Pink slips are in the mail!

Hey Everybody!!!  I actually made it!!!  Yay!!!! [angl2]  After much hand-holding and counseling by Jeannie  [bnghd] I think I'm getting the hang of this!!! [cheer]  I want to thank everybody for the VERY NICE birthday wishes.  I"m still waiting for the birthday fairy  [occasion5] to bring me a plane ticket to New York for the Fest (I think she's WALKING here), but other than that, it was a very nice day!  And week!
 [occasion1]
And heck, I'm still celebrating!   [occasion18] Why not!!!  Except for the fact that I blew out my knee AGAIN... [a345] and you know, that's it!  That's the LAST time I dance on the table at the Blue Whale.  I don't care HOW many free juke box songs I get...

Thank You very very much!  You guys are the BEST!!!!! [love7]

Current Talk '05 II / Re: Where was the Secret in 1840?
« on: September 16, 2005, 12:38:47 AM »
I'm new here and, after having trouble navigating, got pointed here by Pansity.  Just wanted to say thanks for the 1840 thread.  I LOVE 1840.  You just can't think about it too hard.  As for the Edith paradox, their problem is that they didn't call for the coroner.  He was working two jobs and at that time, he was in Munchkinland.  So he could not have proclaimed Edith most sincerely dead, so apparently she was only merely dead, which, we all know, in DS, doesn't mean much.  ;D
