Yet another coffin dug up by one person and singlehandedly lifted out of the ground (I doubt Petofi lent Aristede any assistance in this endeavor).

"Why all the shadows?"  Well, they don't call it Dark Shadows for nothing!   [ghost_cheesy]

Gerard, that makes perfect sense.  Thanks for clearing that up for me.   [ghost_smiley]

If vampires can only be destroyed in two ways - either by exposure to the sunlight or by a stake or silver bullet through the heart - why do they need to drink blood?  It obviously doesn't serve the same function as food or water because Barnabas "lived" over 150 years in his coffin without receiving any sanguinary sustenance.

Just curious.

Does anybody know why there was a no-show day between 817 which aired on 8/12 and 818 which aired on 8/14?

I chuckled when I heard Quentin utter the phrase "back to the future" to Petofi.  Of course, it meant nothing at the time, but it sure sounds funny now - kind of how the name Clint Eastwood meant nothing to the cowboys at the bar in "BTTF III."

Since when does an ordinary mortal have the power to "summon" a vampire as Quentin attempts to do here?  Or is Quentin just mistaken and misguided about how this whole vampire-contacting business works?  Or does his status as a fellow victim of the supernatural give him some paranormal symbiotic relationship with Barnabas?  I'm confused.

When Petofi told Aristide that convincing Amanda to spill the bans was more in Aristide's line of work than his, I thought he meant for Aristide to woo the information out of her, not threaten her with death if she didn't speak - though, come to think of it, that pretty much fits with Aristide's modus operandi as well.

It's interesting that David Hennessey is now playing TWO characters who are close to death simultaneously.

I wonder if there weren't times when the writers might have been able to move the plot along more effectively if they weren't tied down to the no-more-than-five-or-six-actors-allowed-per-episode rule set up by the show's producers.  Were there times when they had to delay a crucial scene to a later episode because it would have involved paying an additional actor or two?  It seems like it might have been a bit of a strain to have to work under such conditions.

Anyone ever read any comments on this topic?  Thanks.

Amanda's eyeroll when Trask says he's going to be giving her "private instruction" is absolutely priceless!

I laughed when Amanda said to Tim, "What are we going to do tomorrow night?  Hang out in the local cemetary"?  If she had any idea just how much drama takes place in the cemetary there in Collinsport, she'd know that that was indeed "the" place to be for excitement.

As for Tim, good grief, he's not out of the room five seconds before Nora's already pawing at the package.  Some mastermind he turns out to be!

Frankly, I found Jenny's ghost to be fairly ridiculous.  When Quentin and Beth were ghosts, they couldn't even speak and had to communicate telepathically with the children.  Yet, Jenny sashays into the room as if she had just been invited over for afternoon tea, even going so far as to take the baby out of the crib and wander around the room with her (or at least with a bundle of swaddling clothes that LOOKS kind of like a baby).  I realize that ghosts who are summoned - as opposed to those who are just "hanging around" - may, for some reason, have an  ability to speak while the others do not, but at least Julianka had the decency to remain as a semi-transparent apparition hanging in midair when she appeared on the scene.  For me, Jenny is just way too corporeal for a ghost of any type.

On the positive side, I thought the scenes with Edward were absolutely brilliant, both in the writing and the acting by Louis Edmund.  He does a beautiful job making Edward into a truly poignant and sympathetic figure, yet one who is sadly funny at the same time.

Did Nancy Barrett have a "screaming clause" in her contract while she was playing Charity or what?  I swear, everytime she comes on the screen I have to lower the volume so my neighbors won't think something untoward is happening in my house and sic the cops on me!

Thanks, MB.  I could have sworn that when I lined the threads up by subject/title, there was a gap between 805 and 807.  Maybe Count Petofi had his "hand" in my computer that day.  Thanks for finding it for me.

Is there no thread for Episode 806?
