I like Jonathan Frid's website very much.  I am impressed with what he has done and is doing and also his wonderful sense of humor.  I enjoyed the new pictures very much but enjoyed the captions even more.
The print on the site is big, but I like that because I have the other problem with most sites.  Have to strain to be able to read the normal font size stuff.

I am very sad.

He was a nice man, very funny.  Used to enjoy his banter with John Karlen.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: FAVORITE SCENE FEATURING DENNIS PATRICK
« on: October 15, 2002, 05:08:38 AM »
I enjoyed all of Dennis Patrick's scenes as Jason.

Previous posters have mentioned favorites so the one I'm describing is from that Leviathan storyline when DP played Paul Stoddard.  I thought he was good in that role too even though I wasn't fond of that storyline.  Anyway, he and Barnabas are sparring in the Blue Whale about the debt he owes to the Leviathans.

Barnabas says something like it's your most precious possession.

Paul laughs and says oh my soul?

And Barnabas laughs more and says oh no, not your soul! just as Carolyn comes in.

Then Paul realizes that Barnabas means Carolyn.

The look on his face.

I will miss him.

I have never been in a hot air balloon.  I have seen them take off.  I am afraid of heights so I would not want to try it.  I think the other posters are right.  Don't go, don't look, don't think about it but your husband should try it.  I don't mean to sound like a fatalist but you never know and everyday should be lived to the fullest.

I have always admired Abe Vigoda.  He conveys an awful lot with his expression ... or lack of it.  I mean when he played Fish he was deadpan but very funny.  I thought he was very believable as he realized he couldn't be seeing Quentin, it must be a ghost.  I am sorry Mr. Braithwaite was killed off so quickly.  He would have made a good character actor, like Mrs. Johnson, except they couldn't use a jeweller on the show ... maybe just once in a while.

I thought David Henesy was a wonderful child actor, better than Macauley Culkin.  I'm sorry acting was a bad experience for him because of his parent.  What a coincidence I recall reading it wasn't much fun for Macauley Culkin either.

And I think David Selby probably enjoyed himself during the weeks he did not talk.  He seems to be having a grand time with his evil smiles.

I would vote no.  I agree with what Gothick said.  And I was like Connie.  I saw the original episodes on a black/white TV.  Very many years later I saw them in color.  I like seeing the costumes in color but the b/w made a statement too.

Interesting that David Collins suggested he might someday become a doctor in today's episode. What career or profession do you think (having some background knowledge) would suite David any why?

I was thinking he could be one of the paparazzi ... sort of a hobby for a rich man's son who doesn't really have to work ...  :P

At the close of 1897, we see what appears to be the demise of Count Petofi. However, there was room to resurrect the character and place him into the present storyline (Leviathan) or in 1970PT. One interesting idea would have him spar with another villain type similar to the scene between Angelique and Laura Collins. Do you think this character should of had a new lease on life?

Yes I do think that there would have been a thrilling storyline if Petofi came back.  There are so many villains --and heroes -- to spar with.

I watched the original run and I was frightened of Quentin but drawn to him too.  It took a while for me to sort my feelings out and I did have a crush on the character.   :-*

I didn't like Gerard at all.  I wondered why he had to be there when Quentin was so much more interesting.   >:(     :D ;D

I have to ask what may be a stupid question.  Where is the chat room?  Thanks...
?!?

I am sorry to hear that John Karlen is in the hospital.  I am going to send him a card.  Is he online at all?  If he is, he might like to see this thread and see that he has many fans that care about him.

Current Talk '02 II / Re: Most disturbing DS moments
« on: August 05, 2002, 04:31:42 PM »
Many of the scenes listed upset me.

Generally speaking, I was upset by Barnabas' abusive treatment (on some occasions, not always) of Willie, Maggie, Julia, David, Adam, Sandor, Magda, and Quentin.  He never bullied the other relatives.  Maybe he felt that the other relatives and he were all in the same class and it would have been disrespectful.  It was disturbing to see Barnabas lose his courtly air and become a nasty bully.

I did not like the callousness Barnabas and Julia had toward Adam.  They saw him as a "thing" and that's all.  While others were frightened of Adam, I could see there was a basis for it.  The only person who knew Adam's origin and treated him decently was Professor Stokes ... and Carolyn.

Mark,
I wish there was some way we could let Harper Collins know what they are missing.   ::) :P Are they the ones who dropped the idea of a DS series?

Thanks so much for generously sharing your story with us.   ;D Quentin is my favorite character.

I have enjoyed reading all of your books and I'm really enjoying this one!   :D

The name of the actor who started out in the role was
named Pete Duel.  Killing himself wasn't a joke.  Heard RD talk one time, he and Duel were friends, Duel was depressed, had lots of personal problems.  Yes,  it is very sad.
