Current Talk '24 I / Re: hoDS/NoDS DVD Release?
« on: July 10, 2012, 06:11:41 AM »
Very sad news. Although I am happy that both films will be released to Blu Ray, I am so sad to hear that the restored version of Night is not the one coming out. Yes I will buy them, I love Dark Shadows, and yes, I will get the Depp film also. Hopefully, maybe in the future they will do the restored version.

For a film that supposedly is a bomb, 217 million worldwide is excellent. But may I ask a simple question? Is worldwide grosses  only supposed to be talked about in a positive note when it the Avengers? Which, by the way I liked. I guess because 217 million for DS  doesn't rate because  its Darkshadows. What hypocrites t mass media is.

For all DVD and Blu Ray fans. I just read on Blu Ray .com that Avengers will be out on Blu and DVD on Sept 25. Hopefully, Dark Shadows will not be far behind, and perhaps a release date for House and Restored Night. Lets keep hoping.

For whatever it is worth. My nephew saw it on Wednesday. Never saw any version of Dark Shadows. Only knew of it because of me, and he was frightened of Barnabas and Angelique as a youngster. He just graduated from Pace college, and he liked it a lot. My best friend of all time, with only seeing Dark Shadows very few times with me when we were kids saw it and enjoyed it a lot  also.Hopefully, other non fans of the Original, Revival series will go and see it.

I saw on fox news tonite, that it took in 29.9 million this weekend, I assume thats United States gross alone. An earlier thread said over 60 million worldwide, to me thats great when you consider the business that Avengers is doing.I will say what I said earlier this weekend, put me in the I liked it a lot category, my friend whom was not a Original DS fan looked at me and said, order the Blu Ray when its preordered. He enjoyed it alot. Now lets hope that House and the restored Night of Dark Shadows come out soon.

Saw Dark Shadows today with my friend. We both loved it. My friend is a lot more pickier than I am, and he is not a original DS fan.I enjoyed it very much. The visuals that Burton did for the movie are very good. I enjoyed Johnny  Depp, and Michelle Pfier a lot. The rest  of the cast was also very good. Liked the music, and there was a murmur in the audience when the 4 original cast members  came into the party. All in all, I had a good time, and when the Blu Ray comes out, defiantly will get it.

Here in Brooklyn, they have a imax 3d showing at 1015am on Friday morning. I did't realize that they did make a 3d copy of this. I saw that on the yahoo movie schedule.I  am really looking forward to seeing this movie. I love this show so much, and hope that this will bring in new fans, that will also enjoy the original and the 91 series, plus the eminent
release of House, and the restored version of Night of Dark Shadows. Have fun at the movies everyone, I know I plan to

I was terribly saddened to hear about the passing of Jonathan Frid. I was one of the studio kids, and had a chance to met him as a youngster. He was always gracious and kind to me. Years later, at all the different types of DS conventions he was still gracious and kind. He also once said hello to my than 3 year old nephew back in 1993.My last memory is this, last summer at the Brooklyn Fest, my friend Anna and I were in the hotel restaurant, we were walking to our table, and Jonathan was at a table we were passing, he saw us, smiled and waved. We both said hello, and went to our own table. My heart is broken today, I feel as if I have lost a friend. I have. Rest In Peace Jonathan, you will always be in my heart. Richie

I have been off the boards for a week. My pc broke last week, and couldn't be fixed, got a new one. I wanted to say that we saw the ds trailer last week. One of 6 that were shown. The Dark Shadows trailer created a nice buzz in the audience. I liked it. I am hopeful the film will do well despite all the early criticism.Looking forward  to seeing it.

I posted on the new trailer last nite. I watched it 4 times, and enjoyed it.As someone who still loves the original series, was one of the studio kids, and has been to many ds festivals,I feel that I have to give this film a chance. Trailers sometimes never really tell you what a film will be about. Lets give it a chance. Lots of good can come from this if this film is a success. Like the restoration of NODS, and the release of HODS on Blu Ray and dvd also.As I said, lets give this film a chance.
