Hey gang,
Mr. Patrick is probably up there in Heaven with Joan Bennett and David Ford singing "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling," in celebration of his first St. Patrick's Day in that great house of Collinwood in the sky.

Of course they didn't have the kind of technology they have today in TV but it would have been great to see Julia and Magda meet, at least one time. I would love to have seen Julia's reaction to Magda. After all, Magda was such an important part of Barnabas' life in 1897.

The technology was there and available for television production. Look at the Patty Duke Show. That predates DS, doesn't it?
and go see another specialist for an opinion maybe? Yes??
I second Connie's advice.....do NOT hesitate to seek out another opinion. Many years ago my Mother-in-law had eye surgery done by a surgeon with the most prestigeous practice in Manhattan. Everyone assured her that she couldn't be in better hands anywhere in the world. Guess what....he screwed up. It happens. But he never admitted it. It took a long time and ANOTHER surgeon to fix what went wrong. So please, don't let loyalty or politeness prevent you from doing what's in YOUR best interest!!

An intriguing thread. I think the relationship between Tony and Carmella is fascinating and I can see where its complexity is similar to that of Barney-book and Julia.
Jennifer, I don't think there is any doubt that Gandolfini will be back. All of this negotiation stuff is agent-driven, a frequently used tactic (unfortunately) and one reason why so many industry people don't like agents. (Though there are some good ones) The agent is pushing for all of this because the amount of money an actor can command is what ultimately earns respect in Hollywood. It's stupid, but that's how it is.
I had to laugh at some of the newspaper reports claiming that Gandolfini was an "obscure" actor prior to The Sopranos. He was in quite a few high profile films and had meaty roles in them for the past decade. Geez, what do they call an actor who has never been in any production seen by more than 50 people?
Muıeca!!! Thank God he knew what to do!
Oh, Jennifer, if only there were direct flights between Logan and Islip/MacArthur, you and I would be meeting on a regular basis.
I would LOVE to be able to fly directly to Boston!!
LA's not so great....I was there once. Rained every day. And I didn't see ONE beach that could hold a candle to the beaches on Fire Island!
(Rainey ducks and runs!)
Midnite....that was just CRUEL!!

An obvious parallel would be Nick and Natalie on Forever Knight. She's a doc that knows his secret and tries to cure him through science, and though it's unspoken their friendship evolves into something much deeper. One ep in particular addresses why it'd be dangerous if he showed his feelings for her.
Nice to see you, Joe!
She also commented that Grayson had changed her date of birth on her driver's license. Nancy added the laughing comment: "You have to be Grayson Hall to be able to get away with things like that!"

But the nail in the coffin of the show was when former Beatle John Lennon's wife [instructed by her numerologist] had John buy her way onto the show, with similar payola techniques as U2. Adding her name to the show apparently was too avant garde.
ROTFL ! Ringo, I swear. You are one of a kind.
Wait! I think there were a couple of other short-lived revival attempts. A politician with high aspirations was thinking of running for office and bribed his way into the line-up. Also, I heard that a feeble attempt at correcting the Yoko Ono fiasco was made, but it didn't help. I think the final outcome was:
Draino and Beano present: Chico, Charro, Groucho, Dumbo, Tito, Toto, Bono, Bozo, Leno, Yoko Ono, Mario Cuomo, Perry Como and The Man
John, many thanks for that beautifully written explication de texte (or should it be, de scene?) I think this episode and the one where Bruno becomes sexually excited while flogging the Chris-wolf must rate among the most homoerotic in DS' history. There are other queer moments, of course...
I think your analysis of this episode should be published in Cahier du Shadows!
Your fan,
Steve
