Still hopeful this will get made and be good.
Barnabas will need a love intrest, so it's inevitable that there will be a love story with Josette/Maggie/Vicky in some variation. Just hope they'll find a fresh angle.
It occured to me tonight if this does get made there will be tons of merchandising. DS swag yay! Maybe a DS video game dare we hope, and more DS stuff based on the original and Revival will surely be put out. Surely at that point the House and Night movies will get restored and finally get a dvd/blu ray release, and maybe the Revival series dvd set will FINALLY be done right, with the extened scenes and all the wonky technical problems corrected.
Should help sales of the DS audios and maybe we can get more novels too.

My take on Night Whispers was that some time after the original series Barnabas was cured, then he was recursed by Angelique in the new audio series. I think I read that the intention was that Night Whispers takes place before season 1 of the audios. There's an offical Facebook group for the DS audios, and somewhere on that site there's a timeline for al the audios, what year they take place in.
For what it's worth the new audios are intended to be a prequel to Return to Collinwood, and Julia is mentioned in that one, I won't say any more so I won't spoil anything, but that brief mention has a detail sure to make any Julia fan smile :)
I hope Frid does another audio, maybe next time with Lara Parker.

For what it's worth Falcon Crest season 2 dvd is available for pre  order exclusively at the WB online store. It's not remastered or anything, but still nice to get more of FC, since it seems unlikely that a remastered version will be available. It's my understanding that there are no plans to sell the dvd anywhere else, but they'll turn up used on ebay eventually.
More Selby is always welcome!

Current Talk '10 II / Re: Discussion on Josette's Portrait
« on: September 15, 2010, 03:36:38 AM »
Liz mentions in passing early in the series something about her grandmother. Since her bio paternal grandmother was Laura and was presumed dead, I have heard specualtion that before Barnabas changed time Kitty married Edward and was the grandmother Liz remembered fondly.
Of course, this could be Liz's maternal grandmother she's remembering. I think it has something to do with Liz having jewelry her grandmother gave her. Still, I like the idea of Kitty becomes a Collins and having a good life complete with grandchildren, before Barnabas comes back and spoils it for her.
Odd that Josette would be reincarnated and then come back as a ghost in her old persona.

I always thought it strange that the prtrait looks nothing like KLS. It's still a lovely portrait though.
Also obvious that they revised Josette and Jeremiah as the direct ancestors.
Barnabas was drawn to Maggie because she looked like Josette, and then later to Vicki because of similarities he was in their personalities.
As for Daphne in 1991 Revival series, wasn't she supposed to be Roger and Liz's niece, presumably the daughter of an unseen and unmentioned but presumably dead brother, so she should be Daphne Collins, right? Or am I missing something?

Current Talk '10 II / Re: Discussion on Jenny Collins

i think it works much better for the story that Jenny's madness is brought on by Quentin's betrayal and abandonment, and his family's cruelty to her. That all the tragedy that comes upon the family, thry Quentin's curse is ultimately brought on by Quentin and his family's actions is much more appropriate than any outside force.
Besides, there was no need for the gypsies to curse Jenny, she brought her destruction upon herself thru her unwise choice in husbands and her inability to cope when things went wrong.

Current Talk '10 II / Re: Vampires vs. Werewolves

The White Wolf game and novels definitely have good and bad characters of all races, and were very inclusive with race, gender, sexaul orientation, all walks of life were treated equally. The bloodthrist of the vampire, and the rage of the werewolf made them dangerous, but it was possible for a good person to control them, just not easy. There also was a lot of exploration of the idea that power corrupts, but that series was as far from prejudiced over all as you can get.
Charlaine Harris, and most other urban fantasy novelists, write shades of grey into their charactres. It's mostly older novels, like Dracula, which show the vampire as a thing of intrisic evil.

I love Charlaine Harris's Southern Vampire aka True Blood novels, I find them funny, dramatic and intriguing with a very well developed world full of quirky interesting characters.

White Wolf is a publisher of role playing games and novels about vampires, werewolves, ghosts, fairies, etc. They have a complex and inticate history, very detailed.

White Wolf's role playing games and novels feature very well thought out reasons for the werewolf/vampire animosity. In their world werewolves are the defenders of nature, and vampires are very much unliving corruption of nature.
White Wolf's world has very detailed and involved socitey and culture developed around their monsters, they have a society all their own, very different from the isolated cursed beings in DS.

I don't think they altered the Josette pic, remember a vampire version of Josette gave Barnbas the bite that made him a vampire. An illusion created by Angelique?

Current Talk '10 II / Re: Favorite Magda Scenes
« on: August 12, 2010, 12:27:19 AM »
Magda is one of my favorite DS characters, probably third behind Angelique and Julia.
She was witty, sharp and flamboyant, I'm glad 1897 lasted so long so that we got so much Magda.
The scenes already mentioned are all great.
I am fond of the horror she experiences at learning that she has cursed Jenny's children. A pivotal Magda moment.

I have no doubt the new cover is intended to grab the Twilight/Vampire Diaries fans, I don't see anything wrong with that.  That's a big market, and a lot of those people are going to fall in love with the remake, and some of those fans will be motivated to check out the original series.
Maybe DS mania will hit hard with the Depp remake and we'll get the revival set finally done right, as well as tons of good merchandising, and hopefully the movie will actually be good.

Thta's what I expected, thanks for the info. For what it's worth the cover is an improvement, shame they can't be bothered to improve on the content.
