I mean, the Blue-Ray COVER.  Sorry.  [ghost_wink]

How interesting that the Blu Ray features only Barnabas surrounded by Julia, Elizabeth, Angelique, and Carolyn ... not a hint of Roger, Vicki, or David.

Thumbs up.  I'm easy-going.   [ghost_tongue2]  Also, I would never, NEVER take back those moments -- the shot of the train with Angelique superimposed over it, the cliff, the roaring of the waves, COLLINWOOD, Liz and Barnabas' descent into the nether-regions of Collinwood, the music -- when I sat in the movie theatre, there in the darkness, and felt this little familiar frisson.  This is Dark Shadows, I thought.  And just smiled slightly to myself.

I think she de-werewolferized herself after Liz carried her out.  My question is:  how long has Carolyn been transforming?  We know Angelique sent the werewolf to bite Carolyn "in her crib," but does that mean she's been changing since she was a baby and Liz had no idea?  I was under the impression that either a) she started transforming recently, or b) that was her first change.

Well, it's gone from Missoula, MT, which bums me out a bit (even though I saw it four times!).  I was going to go again tomorrow; guess I'll just have to wait 'til the DVD ...

I'd love a remix of it.  "Where-where-where-where where off route 9?  Wh-wh-where off r-r-r-route 9?  Nuh nuh nuh nine?"  Interspersed with the Vampire State Building's STUNNING rendition of "Barnabas".

(Thanks, MB.  You make my day.)

I love it more each time I see it too, David.

And ACTUALLY, I'm feeling more like Eva Green belongs on the next season of RuPaul (can I say a million times how much I love her growl or her reading of the line, "Where on Route 9?").  I'd consider going as Greengelique for Halloween this year ...   [ghost_wink]

I was waiting for an influx of merchandise as well; if not in mainstream stores, at least in Hot Topic (which I would have been more than willing to drag myself across the threshold, braving the smell of decomposing plastic and sullen teenagers with shaggy dyed mullets and swoopy bangs).  I was particularly looking forward to a novelization, but I guess it's not to be.  My new hope is that this long-awaited visual guide or whatever they're calling it now will contain the shooting script.

I was impressed that I actually felt badly for her again in that last moment -- she doesn't generate the same amount of empathy I feel for LP's version of the character (and though I love Lysette Anthony, I have NEVER felt sorry for her Angelique) -- but there's something in her face in that final moment where I'm reminded of that raggedy little girl standing on the dock waiting for the Collins family to board.

Yeah, yeah, she's a psycho; I know.   [ghost_tongue]

We saw it again this afternoon -- 4th time for me, 2nd time for my fiance -- and the theatre still did respectable business, with the audience audibly enjoying themselves.  As for me, I've reconciled myself with the tiny flaws that bugged me before, including the ending (though I think someone needs to teach WriterSeth the meaning of the word "bastard").  Now I desperately want a sequel, mostly because I'm left wondering:  what's going to become of the human members of the Collins family?!?

The publicity material also made much noise about Barnabas being some kind of playboy, which, besides his "dalliance" (love that word) with Angelique, we didn't see much of.  Personally, I wish we'd seen Barnabas acting as more of the upstanding citizen -- "a good man and a Collins" -- Elizabeth seems to believe he was.

Amazon has an image for the Dark Shadows Art of the Film book (which, according to the photo, is actually called the Dark Shadows Visual Guide).  It also contains a foreward by Tim Burton.  Expensive, but I really want one ...

I've been operating under the impression that it was Josette who led Vicky (I HATE spelling it like that) to Widow's Hill in the end.  I know some people aren't really digging that idea, but I think it's fantastically creepy, and gives the film -- and Victoria's role in it -- an entirely new resonance.

Also -- I meant to pay attention when I was watching it yesterday and forgot -- but did anyone notice if Vicky's fingers and fingernails got all extra knuckle-y and yellow pointy like Barnabas'?  They made such a big deal about his finger transformation when he was originally vamped that I was really interested to see if the same thing happened to Vicky.

Even though it was a smaller theatre, it was packed full.  And my friend, who is not a DS fan, loved it.  The rest of the audience seemed engaged as well.
