Current Talk '14 I / Vicky's Fate
« on: April 25, 2014, 10:18:16 PM »
For those who saw DS originally, was it forgotten what happened to Vicky (during Leviathan) until the later syndicated reruns as it was only in 2 episodes I think.  Or did some of you remember it?

I'm asking because I'm curious if that outcome was still thought of prior to the third year DS was released into syndication.

Calendar Events / Announcements '14 I / OT: Le Alig (Michael Alig)
« on: April 16, 2014, 10:51:26 PM »
Infamous and DS fan Michael Alig is actually getting released from prison.  His van was loaded with DS tapes when they caught him

The NYC he last saw is long gone now.

Current Talk '14 I / If Barnabas was never released from his coffin...
« on: January 23, 2014, 11:00:13 PM »
There are many things that would be different but what would still have happened anyway?

The Liz/Jason story would play out the same way (except Jasons final outcome)  and Chris Jennings would still be a werewolf (though never moving to Collinsport).

Calendar Events / Announcements '13 II / John Karlen lookalike

Evan Peters of American Horror Story and the Kick-Ass movies bears a striking resemblence to John Karlen.

Current Talk '13 II / Wolf Moon Rising novel
« on: August 27, 2013, 11:56:05 PM »
I just finished the new book "Dark Shadows: Wolf Moon Rising".

Either Lara Parker didn't do her research or this is the aftereffect of the 1840 storyline. I liked the story in the present time but the 1929 part was too much- bootleggers, the Klan, Liz a movie star and in a romance with her great uncle Quentin!

This also makes both Liz and Roger a decade older then they should be.

And one thing that always irritates me more then anything else: Can a story ever include Jamison's nameless wife???

Current Talk '13 I / Disturbing DS Episodes
« on: April 23, 2013, 04:35:32 PM »
This site has a list of the most disturbing television shows ever:

http://io9.com/8-tv-episodes-that-qualify-as-psychological-warfare-476802212

Are there any episodes of DS that you would put into this category?

For me, its the episode when David runs out of the mausoleum he was trapped in and into the hands of Barnabas.  It's running from one danger right into the one person you are scared of that could kill and dispose you easily.

Current Talk '13 I / The other Barnabas and Julia following PT 1970
« on: March 26, 2013, 01:53:23 AM »
I don't think I have ever heard any mention of this in all of the years I have been in DS fandom.

When Barnabas, Julia, & Stokes return to 1971 from 1841, Elizabeth mentions the opening of the "Collinsport Historical Society", which Roger is giving a speech at.  She shows no surprise at seeing the three of them as if they were gone for months and even mentions to them that they know about the making of the CHS!

Apparently there was a Barnabas & Julia who Liz and everyone was seeing following their return from Parallel Time up until their arrival from 1841.  This time, the summer of 1970 to January 1971, everything was peaceful and nothing out of the ordinary happened for the first time in years.

Did B2 & J 2 merge with B1 & J 1 when they returned to the present and then B1 and J1 both lost the memories of Gerard & Daphne altogether, probably soon after?

Current Talk '13 I / Had Curtis hired a different cast for 1795
« on: January 08, 2013, 04:55:19 PM »
I know this is really stretching things with DC's known penny pinching, but what if he decided to hire a new cast for 1795, with the exception of Frid, Smythe, Moltke, & possibly Scott?

Would the audience have accepted the change?  I think it's possible they would have warmed up over time.
When the show returned to the present it probably would feel like seeing a show return after the summer break (which in a way it did to me with the same cast anyway).

Current Talk '12 II / A real life Sandor Petofi!
« on: November 20, 2012, 05:50:12 PM »
I found this on Wikipedia:

1849 – Sándor Petőfi (26), Hungarian poet and liberal revolutionary, one of the key figures of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Petőfi was last seen in Transylvania during the Battle of Segesvár. Although there are many different theories and rumours about his supposed death or deportation to Siberia neither his body nor genuine records to support the theories were ever found.

Current Talk '12 I / The three finalists for the role of Barnabas
« on: April 27, 2012, 10:21:23 PM »
As the episodes we are reading about are airing, there are three actors being considered to play Barnabas.  The second one was Bert Convy, whom legend has it was DC's choice but overruled and stated as a "mistake" to DC by Robert Costello.

Does anyone know who the third one was?

In some parallel universe, there just may be a Bert Convy/James Hall version of Dark Shadows!

Current Talk '12 I / Return To Collinwood

I have the new KLS book and while I enjoy it, there is reuse of a lot of the text from My Scrapbook memories of DS.

Current Talk '12 I / 1995 Collinwood photo
« on: January 25, 2012, 10:59:17 PM »
In the summary for the first episode in 1995, it states they use a photo of Collinwood they never showed before.  Does anyone have a screen capture of it?

Calendar Events / Announcements '12 I / OT: Other soaps from the DS time
« on: January 16, 2012, 06:17:50 PM »
Dan Curtis had a five person limit per show, mainly.  Did other soaps of the time have only a certain number of people in an episode?

Calendar Events / Announcements '11 II / OT: The Edge of Night
« on: October 11, 2011, 05:01:53 PM »
This was also an unusual soap opera in that it was about crime and was actually filmed live, not live on tape.
I have only seen the last years when it was done on videotape and toned down considerably.

Was this a scary, suspenseful show?  I know the theme song had a eerie ring to it.

Calendar Events / Announcements '11 II / DS Cartoon by Sherlock
« on: September 10, 2011, 04:37:24 PM »
I have been trying to find a cartoon that once appeared in a few fanzines in the 80's by a cartoonist named Sherlock.

It was captioned "Deja Vu" and had the Collins family watching television, supposedly Dark Shadows.

Is there a collection of his work?
