Thank you for that summary Jimbo.  I went to the Paley Center website a few days ago where I read about the Vampire weekend. And of course I went on Jonathan's website and he mentioned that he got a call from JP and Marie Wallace fron New York so I figured they were letting him know about the weekend.  Sounds a bit rushed and rude though..the panel discussion that is.

I don't know when i last posted but i know its been a long, long time.  In any case, you can also download from itunes some of the DS cast interviews from the Ron Barry show which I did about a year ago.  It a bit lengthy but its nice to listen to actually.  Love JF's voice.

I remember the Mother In Laws but I was a real small kid like in 1st or 2nd grade.  Does any one remember who the married couple was?   For some reason, i thought it showed on a Sunday evening as I always got that got to go to school feeling watching it..the same one i still get on Sunday evenings getting ready to teach on Mondays.  In any case, does anyone know who the couple was?

Calendar Events / Announcements '09 II / The Strain
« on: July 15, 2009, 12:18:42 AM »
My bookclub decided to read The Strain by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan.  Guillermo did Pan's Labyrinth and HellBoy I and II to name a few movies he has written and directed.  In any case, he was on Charlie Rose on PBS a couple of weeks ago talking of his fascination with monsters, vampires, comic heroes..things or charactors that require imagination to create.  In this book, The Strain, (although I am only on pg 88 and there are 401 pgs.) the premise is that a vampire strain of a virus is going to infect NYC or so far that is what the NY Times review stated.  I'm not that far into the book yet only that its kinda scary right now.    One of the characters carries a cane with a silver wolf's head that is a family crest and one of the characters mentions that he feels he is in a Dan Curtis TV horror show from the early 70's.  Although the quote he used i am sure is from the movie HODS.  Has anyone already read the Strain?  Any similarities with DS?

I also love the Pom Press books because they are easy reference for any episode I want to view.  I always have it handy especially when I go back and want to see a particular episode.  These books are just from a very personal perspective and that's why i enjoy reading them.  In some way they help me feel connected to the series and all the charactors involved.

Current Talk '09 II / Re: Jonathan Frid and Johnny Depp

Frid in drag??? Hell to the  No.....I can't see that...especially not as Julia or Elizabeth. He does not seem to look good in orange. I'm not sure of green.  However green would draw out his eye color which look hazel to me.  But what do I know? How about as a Mr. Braithwaite?  Nah not even that loony character.  I guess the question would be what would draw a large fan base to the movie?  Frid definitely would.

In any case, as much as I would love to see JF in a "cameo" appearance, I can't imagine him doing so because he seems to have turned down other opportunities before.  But who knows??  What role do you think he would play though?  Anything is possile in Hollywood I guess.

1795 storyline has always been my favorite in the entire series (save for some parts of the 1897 storyline).  However, i was always a bit upset with the fact that Vicky ends up being the accused.  It certainly was a distraction but in hindsight suspician had to be diverted agaisnt Angelique and who else with knowledge of the future would have that except Victoria Winters with her ever revealing mouth?  I will certainly try to get a copy of A message from Charity.  Anything that relates to the 1795 storyline is of most interest to me.

Sara send Victoria back?  I thought that was part of the entire seance thing?  You know
the real governess is replaced by Victoria
Oh well I guess I'm missing something here.  In any case, 213 years of marriage!  People actually recognize that?  It was a marriage made in hell for BC to put it bluntly.
BC is depressed, Naomi appears happy but you know she is really not happy with his choice, and Joshua didn't even show up.  There was a small celebration if i remember (and I should since I saw the episode last week) several glasses of bloody champagne for a bloody marriage!!
Speaking of bloody, through one of my JF yahoo groups, I came across this interview of Sam Hall.  Its quite disturbing I think.  The link is www.tvparty.com
