Thanks all, glad you enjoyed it! I hope to find more films that Craig Slocum was in and add more pics, it was fun writing the Poems too! :) :-*

Thanks for the congratulations! We're very happy about all this. I never had the physical fitness tests when I was in school in the 1970s, we didn't have to do that back then. My daughter is a strong little girl, and the only 7 year old in her class, the other students are already 8 years old. Her name is in the latest school bulletin, she's on the Positive Action list again. There will be an awards assembly for the National Physical Fitness Award later this month. Her dad plans to attend with me. He lives out-of-state and doesn't get here for these things, but really wants to be here for this award. I will post the details of the event. My mother is here visiting, arrived Friday night, and my daughter is very excited about grandma being here! ;)

Some great pics of Craig Slocum from the film, "Riot in Juvenile Prison", have been added to Cheryl's Craig Slocum Website at: http://rusty_slocum.tripod.com/slocum.htm.

The pics are on pages 33 - 40. Also, a Poem I wrote for Craig for Valentine's Day has been added on the bottom of the Poems Dedicated to Craig Slocum page, http://rusty_slocum.tripod.com/poems1.htm, it's called, "My Absent Valentine." I recently came upon it while looking through everything I wrote for him. I have a book full of things I wrote! It sure sounded good and Valentine's Day is fast approaching again. Enjoy the pics and the Poem!

My daughter has received the National Physical Fitness Award. This award is given to those students who score at or above the 50th percentile on all five fitness items. The test consisted of measurements in Cardiovascular Endurance (one mile run), Muscular Strength (push-ups or pull-ups), Muscular Endurance (curl ups), Flexibility (sit n reach) and Agility (shuttle run).

She will be receiving a National Certificate from the President, and a National Award Emblem. There are also National fitness Award winner t-shirts available. She was the only child in her class to receive this award! It is her third award in the last 6 months. She won two Positive Actions Awards, one for Personal Success, and another for "being very kind to classmates". She keeps me busy at home, I'm a single parent, and I'm very proud of her, she's the best!  :)

My fave is Harry Johnson (Craig Slocum) in the 1968 Adam storyline. I also like him as Noah Gifford in the 1795 Flashback. I have a website for him at: http://rusty_slocum.tripod.com/slocum.htm, with my tribute to him, lots of pics, an online memorial I created for him, poems I wrote, and a link to his credits, & IMDB page. I participate in the annual Nevada Chapter Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation www.jdrf.org, Walk To Cure Diabetes, I support the cause in his memory and help in finding a cure for diabetes.  ;)

Current Talk '04 I / Re:Dark Shadows: Set 10 is Released Today!

I received it in the mail yesterday. Last night, I watched Episode 609, 611, and 612 on Disc Four. When I open a new DVD set, after I check out the Collector's Postcard, I get out my Dark Shadows Program Guide, compare it with the Chapters listed for the discs, then I make a note of which Episodes on what discs Craig Slocum is on, and clip it in the set. Enjoyable viewing before going to bed last night. Sweet dreams!  :-*

Calendar Events / Announcements '04 I / Craig Slocum On Ryan's Hope Today
« on: January 17, 2004, 04:38:58 AM »
I saw Craig Slocum on Ryan's Hope again today as Lou. Friends from the social club surprised Jack with a visit. They set up a nativity scene for Christmas, while having pastries, espresso, joking around, and congratulating Mary on the baby. Mary put the baby Jesus in the manger, and they sang "Away in a Manger." Craig looked great, I loved the suit & tie, and flashy wrist watch he had on! It's coming on again later. Ryan's Hope airs on Soap Net here on the West coast at 11 a.m - 12 p.m., and early 1 a.m. - 2 a.m. I'm glad I got to see Craig again!

The coldest temp I've ever been in is when it gets down to the 20s here, which it did recently. Right now it's 57. I'm in my usual evening attire at home, wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and barefooted. I keep my two story home a comfy 75 degrees. It snowed here right after Christmas, the second time it snowed since I've been in Vegas. We get snow every five years, lol! It was a trip seeing snow on the pool deck and on top of the spa, I will remember that when I'm out there in the summer and it's 114 degrees! My daughter built a little snow man, and we had a snow ball fight. We took a walk around the neighborhood. It was pretty seeing the homes decorated for Christmas, and having snow around in the yards and on the roof tops. Palm trees and cars were covered with snow too, a rare sight here indeed. It's been in the 60s for the last few days, nice! We have 7 months of hot weather in Vegas from April - November. By then I'm almost praying for cold weather, lol! Keep warm all who are in the Northeast! Glad I'm here!

Current Talk '04 I / Re:How & when you discovered Dark Shadows
« on: January 14, 2004, 04:31:37 AM »
I started watching Dark Shadows in 1968 when I was 4, soon going to be 40 this year.  :o My mom got me interested in the show, she was hooked on Barnabas Collins and still is to this day!  ::) I watched the show with her and my brother. We had all the bubble gum cards. My dad didn't like us watching Dark Shadows, so when he came home early from work, we went to the next door neighbors or other friends homes to watch it.

I saw the show again in 1980 when it came on late at night. I was a teenager, would come home after an evening out with my boyfriend, then put Dark Shadows on before I went to bed. I got bored with it at the time though, because they were showing the early episodes, so I quit watching. In 1990, I remember on Friday nights sometimes, seeing the new Dark Shadows, and only after catching a few episodes, it was gone.

I moved to Las Vegas, NV in 1996 when I was expecting my now live wire daughter. In 1998, I found out there was going to be a Dark Shadows Festival here, so I went, but I didn't remember the actors because I really hadn't watched the show that much since I was a little girl. The only actor I remembered at the Festival was John Karlen as Willie Loomis.

Then the following year at the end of the century, while watching 1968 Dark Shadows reruns on the Sci Fi Channel, I fell in love with Craig Slocum, and now have a website, and online memorial for him, also my Cheryl's Dark Shadows Website, which to my surprise won a Merit Award in 2001. I'm also a collector, I have a huge Dark Shadows collection. I went to five Festivals, met many DS stars, made some friends with fans, and one lives here in Vegas. I never met a nicer person.

I have all of the MPI Videos and some of the DVD sets too. My mom watches Dark Shadows when she comes to visit, she likes to see Barnabas. My daughter likes the werewolf, lol! I keep all of the MPI Videos and DVD's with Craig Slocum in them on top of the big screen TV in my room and I watch those.  ;)

Dark Shadows will always be my favorite TV show!  8)

Calendar Events / Announcements '03 II / Re:Happy Christmas to all
« on: December 21, 2003, 07:17:17 AM »
I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I was out Christmas shopping today, still have more to do tomorrow, going to buy a bicycle for my daughter, she needs a bigger one, she keeps growing all the time. We had dinner with her dad's other daughter,  husband, and their son. I also had to go to the grocery store today, and while I was there, my little girl's father went to the bank inside the store, then caught up with me shopping, and he gave me a bunch of one hundred dollar bills. Merry Christmas! Or as I usually say, what a trip!

It's a shame "Riot in Juvenile Prison"'s not currently on DVD. Sounds like a hoot.

Riot in Juvenile Prison (1959) is an extremely hard to find and out of print VHS. It was never even out on video in the U.S. I have it and plan to put some screen captures from the film on my Cheryl's Craig Slocum Website.  ;)

It was my pleasure to honor Craig Slocum in the tree ornament program! This is one of the greatest memorials for Christmas time, the proceeds from the event went to charity. Mine went to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! I was happy again today when I saw my daughter's report card, the teacher comments that Stephanie displays good citizenship and is well liked by her peers. She got B's, an A-, and some Exceptional progress marks. Her goal is to get on the Honor Roll, I know she can do it. It is important that parents and teachers work together to ensure student success. On Friday, I'm going to help out at the Christmas party in her class and bring cupcakes. Fun!
