With all the problems barnabas has i don't think anyone should be romantically involved with him.Whoever he ends up with has a heap of problems to deal with for the rest of their lives.That said,the only people he could end up with would already have to know about his past and be comfortable with it and the trouble that will occasionally crop up,otherwise he'd be trying to hide his past and possible otherworldly problems that crop up from time to time from his mate and that could strain things.That leaves Angelique(strange choice considering all she's done to him,repentant or not)

,or Julia(deserves better to be honest,but would be barns best bet for a truly loving relationship with someone who loves him with all her heart)

.Of course he can pick someone else,but he's going to be paranoid about his past being discovered or a new occult enemy appearing out of the blue that could scare his wife and god alone knows what 'ol barny boy will do to protect his interests!

I found the watering down of barnabas sad.In the beginning he seemed more substantive,but as the show goes on he loses his "deep" characterization and becomes vapid and a playboy running after younger "women".Of course that wasn't frids fault.He just worked with the material he got as best as could be under the circumstances.

Julia also loses her strong independent woman characterization from the beginning and becomes dependent on a man who doesn't seem to love her,but she loves to a fault.Although there are moments when she regains her independence for little spurts,she always crumbles around barnabas.I guess hope does spring eternal.

I'm appreciating thayer david's characters all the more the second time around.He plays them with panache and style.He infuses wit and wisdom that is sorely missing on the show.He gets an A+ from me.

I also hate the fact maggie evans and victoria are watered down from women with something of a clue to complete idiots just about.Both started out well,but went down hill with (almost) everyone else."I don't understand" is a common phrase at this time instead of the brow creasing and think it out.
