Title: Dr. Guthrie's Run of the Place
Post by: Joeytrom on November 26, 2019, 03:41:28 PM
Carolyn and Vicky both mentioned that Dr. Guthrie had the run of the entire house while he was there.
He mentioned that he found some things they were better off not knowing.

I know this was not planned at all at the time, but could he have found the parallel time room or Quentin's staircase or even 1897 Quentin's telephone and though it best not to inform them any of this?

Was this during the time they had Guthrie come explore the house to help explain away some of David's "irrational" fears? It would be interesting to think that he found more than he mentioned, and that those things included what Joeytrom listed above. This would be a good tidbit to potentially include in the new version of DS, if it makes it to air, that some character or other found a notebook of Dr. Guthrie listing some crazy things that he uncovered inside of Collinwood, and that leads this character to want to investigate these claims.

Yes, that's it.

It's funny - I remember Guthrie saying they were dealing with a power that defied understanding but I don't remember him saying he discovered things they were better off not knowing. But the idea that he could have discovered even one of the things mentioned here but kept it to himself would be fascinating...

Perhaps most shocking of all, maybe Dr. Guthrie encountered the truly frightening ghost of Dameon Edwards in  the East Wing of Collinwood? [santa_rolleyes]

The ghastly ghost of Dameon Edwards would have, quite possibly, been the most terrifying discovery for Guthrie in the house :D

And to think, maybe he heard Quentin's gramophone playing in the distance somewhere in the West Wing. Or opened what looked like a linen closet only to find a strange children's playroom.

Apparently, all you needed was the title "Doctor" in your name to get the run of the place. Nobody knew that better than Julia Hoffman.
