Title: DECADES TV Network Presents 'Dark Shadows' Barnabas Episodes Starting Halloween Week
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on September 26, 2018, 03:04:40 AM: The fact that they'll be running DS isn't a surprise - but the way they'll be running 260 eps is because they've never done it the way they're going to be doing it:

Decades still hasn't found a new affiliate in my area. And if they still don't have one before this starts, well, it's not like I haven't already watched a lot of their other showings of DS. And if I actually feel like following along, I can always watch my DVDs. And anyone who doesn't have access to Decades but owns the DVDs of the eps being shown can also do the same...

I suppose we're going to have to wait until the October schedule gets posted to see what the daily plan is...

But if they show only five eps a week, that sort of run would last a full year.

Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on October 06, 2018, 04:53:26 PM: Well, it seems like not even SG knows if Decades will be showing just one ep a weeknight or more. Though the Decades Press Release does seem to imply that it's one ep, so maybe that's why SG doesn't mention how many there will be.

Unfortunately, Decades schedule still has nothing for the 29th - though that should be coming soon because at the moment the schedule does have listings through the 26th...

Post by: patrickm on October 11, 2018, 12:21:56 AM: Decades just posted its schedule for the 29th. It is true, they will be airing 1 episode a weeknight at midnight. Ironically, Dark Shadows will follow The Abbott and Costello Show. Talk about your odd couples...Bud and Lou and Barnabas and Willie. LOL.

On an unrelated note, Decades will be running a binge this weekend of the 1972 Ghost Story series...aka Circle of Fear. I've never seen it myself but have heard it is quite good. Will have to check it out.

Post by: Gothick on October 11, 2018, 08:23:58 PM: GHOST STORY/CIRCLE OF FEAR is a mixed bag--like many anthology shows (and most non-anthology shows). For me, the introductions by Sebastian Cabot are a highlight, but those were phased out after the first few weeks or months--can't remember how many were made with Sebastian.

Only 23 episodes were produced in total so when they say 42 shows, presumably some will be repeated.

I don't know if they make cuts and speed up some of the scenes, as has happened with other programs that ran around 52 minutes in the old hour slot from this period, when they get shown on such channels as DECADES. I guess if you have no other way of seeing it, it's better than nothing. At one time, I believe there were several episodes from GHOST STORY available on Youtube.

Actually, no. I've seen several photos from the shooting of that sequence but I've never seen that one.

- and noticed that Decades doesn't even show up in the chart rankings at the bottom of the article. Now, perhaps for some reason Decades wasn't considered. But if it doesn't show up because its viewership is even lower than Comedy TV, which has only 1000 viewers, well, then Decades is really in trouble...

At first, I thought the list was only tracking cable networks but digital channels such as ME TV and Cozi TV were included ( love ME TV and glad it is doing so well.) So unfortunately , Decades really needs to get affiliates back and more eyeballs because like ratings, it's hard to argue with these numbers. I have a feeling like Midnight Texas, this isn't going to end well for Decades.

Post by: Gothick on April 17, 2019, 04:32:25 PM: On a social media DS fan group today (in fact, most likely on several of the groups), a fan posted a trailer that Decades started showing, advising viewers that that famous "seance has been held" is going to happen on April 29, with some scenes from the 1795 storyline featured in the trailer.

It is nice that DS is still one of the shows Decades is promoting right at the top of their opening page.

Post by: patrickm on October 18, 2019, 04:49:31 AM: We lost Decades from our cable last month, but checking their schedule it looks like they will continue showing Dark Shadows beyond the 1 year agreement. However they will stop where they are at in the Dr. Lang story and go back to the Willie release of Barnabas episode.

Decades doesn't seem like a network with a lot of money to shell out for programming and the distributors of DS have had a reputation for charging quite a bit for the show.

I received a Google link to a page dated 03/03/2020 on Decades' site which has a video promo for "new to decades" ep. However, all the clips in the promo look like they're from eps that have already been shown (eps leading up to 1795 and eps from 1795), so it doesn't look like they're actually new...
