They were fighting to get it off the air.

I think that back in the 1960s, this kind of thing was never taken seriously by the mass media. Times have certainly changed.

I just realized something: the One Million Mom's protest against this show had absolutely no effect on the advertisers or the show getting renewed. But then, back when I posted about the protest, I did say:
