ya know as much as i LOVE the show, the idea of a character seeing dead people while others can't isn't an original idea. when i saw that was where they were going i thought to myself YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!
i think it's a stupid idea cause it's an idea that' s been done to death. the rest of what is going to happen i like. i doubt Stefan will be going back to good at the start of the season though.
i also hope that Jeremy seeing his dead girlfriends isn't something that's going to well stay permanant. i get a story arc for the season but other than that. i hope it's NOT permanant.
there was a movie or tv show i forget the name of it where the killer was a teenager. i forget show or movie this was in.
oh i remember what it was, "Criminal Minds" where a young guy. went around killing people.
& you see

him killing people of course, but he's around like 3 others. & you think that is his gang right?
this may have also been the spin-off that was on this past season. which i loved. anyways,
the way it ended was he SLOWLY realized that he IS evil cause all he does is try to avoid these people. & he shoots them at the end & you see them dissapear. than they come back to him. &
them hanging around him is driving him crazy, driving him to kill is why he was killing people.
he ends up in a sanitarium out of his mind at the end of the episode. my point is in all this is that
story has been done to death. & i hope that is'nt the way that Jeremy gets written this season.

Well, we haven't seen what they're going to do with Jeremy yet, so I wouldn't jump the gun quite yet and say it will be unoriginal. But even if that portion of plot does turn out to be completely unoriginal, I love the fact that those two actresses/characters are back on the show - and any way to get them there is fine with me. [ghost_wink]

oh i know that. i was talking about what we have seen so far of course. & one thing i've noticed is if you watch season 1 the acting in most episodes is TERRIBLE! it got actually better a LOT better in season 2. so that's an improvement i think. i was actually hoping this dude would have gotten killed in the season finale NOT became a regular next season! but since we won't have Catherine anymore i don't think. i guess someone has to take her place. i forget
if they killed her or not. so bear with me. i just may be thinking about Alcide's wife.
one thing i find funny is that "Vampire Diaries" & "True Blood" BOTH have characters named "Alcide" or however ya spell his name? one's a werewolf & so far well i don't want to jinx it.

MB, I hope you'll be keeping your eye out on our behalf (or is it behalves?) for a fantastic deal on The Vampire Diaries season 2 like the one that Amazon had last year for season 1. I really enjoyed season 1, but I've got so many things I want to watch that I'm not likely to buy season 2 unless there's a good sale.

I'm definitely keeping an eye out. So far there haven't been any good deals. But the closer we get to Christmas, the better the deals are likely to get. Hopefully Amazon and Target will have something similar to what they had last year with the Season 1 DVD. $12.99 was practically giving it away! [ghost_wink]

I have no idea whether this is relevant to this thread, but I thought of how ardently you (MB) keep up with news on this show last Friday when I was at Macy's--their big flagship store in Downtown Crossing, in Boston (which is where I ALWAYS imagine Liz, Carolyn and Vicki going on their shopping trips in 1967)--I was headed for housewares, and to get their you have to cut through an area that seems keyed to women's leisure wear. Anyhow there was this huge image of a romantic couple (male/female) with the big caption 'VAMPIRE DIARIES" and a product that is being marketed in connection with the show. I think it was some kind of cologne or perfume, but I am not sure.
The cards for these stanchions are going to be fabulous collectibles for fans of this series. The one I saw was gorgeous. I'm sure you've all seen them. The DS vibe actually develops over the entire first season. And by the second season it's almost like it's a different show because much of the dynamics between the characters change radically. The show actually reminds me somewhat of Buffy in that the characters don't remain static like they do on so many other shows. They evolve - and in some case they evolve radically. And at this point with the beginning of the third season, they're all very different from the people we saw at the start of season one. Well, the one who aren't dead are. Though even a few of them who are dead are as well. But to explain that would ruin way too much. [ghost_wink]

I played a clip on Youtube. It looks a lot like the usual CW jazz,mixed in with the current fads around portrayals of werewolves as feral gangsters and vampires as rich, troubled alcoholics... so, I don't know... I just don't have that much time to watch anything these days. Nice production values, though.

I don't know what clip you watched on YouTube - it may have been something new. But going by what I've watched so far and in terms of the longterm story, the werewolves could never be described as feral gangsters. They may have appeared that way in an isolated scene or two. If so, nothing is coming to mind. Though as far as the vampires go, some could be described as rich, troubled alcoholics - but that's by no means the only range of vamps on the show because they pretty much run the gamut. And even the ones who could be described that way are more complex than just that. And, of course, it's not just the vampires, werewolves, witches, ghosts, seances, spells, and returns from the dead that help to give TVD its DS vibe, its the soapyness of the plots. But the thing about TVD is that early on it does take a commitment to the show because, even though it certainly has a lot going for it in the beginning, it takes a while before it develops into the show that fans have now come to expect. For one thing, season two was almost like a completely different show is many respects. And I'm really looking forward to the inevitable changes season three will bring...

It was one of those three minute edits of clips from preceding episodes designed to get fans back in the picture for the new season (#3 or #4 I can't recall which).
I'm not saying it was bad--far from it. I just didn't see anything that would inspire me to devote the amount of time that would be required to watch the preceding seasons of episodes in order to get up to speed with it.
The material about the werewolf, or werewolves, was kind of confusing. At the end there was this guy who walked into a room naked on a woman and he had these weird bumps on his skin--I figured he was meant to be a werewolf.
The one thing that DID grab my attention, I have to confess, were a series of scenes between these two really attractive men who looked as if they were on the verge of having hot unbridled sex. I think that in the story they actually detest one another, but there was a heavy vibe of unresolved sexual tension in the area...the slash writers must have a field day with those two.

MB, I hope you'll be keeping your eye out on our behalf (or is it behalves?) for a fantastic deal on The Vampire Diaries season 2 like the one that Amazon had last year for season 1.
I keep forgetting to mention that I received an e-mail from Amazon on Monday saying that they will be having the Black Friday Week deals again this year. The sale starts on the 21st - though none of the details of what will be on sale during which hours of which days has been released yet. But even if TVD isn't a part of the sale this year, there will probably be dozens of other great deals to watch out for...
Interestingly, TVD's 2nd season had been for sale at Amazon for $24.99 for several weeks, but I noticed that this week it went up to $31.99. Though even at that it's still cheaper than the regular price at most stores (and cheaper that what Amazon was selling the 1st season for last year at this time, which was $37.99). But I'm still holding out hope that the 2nd season will be reduced to $12.99 for the Black Friday Week sale, just like the 1st season was last year. (On Black Friday it was also $12.99 at Target last year - but you have to be one of the first people through the door when they open to be lucky enough to get a copy at Target at that price.)

The good news: TVD Season 2 is currently on sale at Amazon for the unbelievable price of $9.99. The bad news: something screwy is going on at Amazon and no one seems to be able to buy it. The set is one of the Lightning Deals from 8:30am PST to 12:30pm PST, but when you try to order it, the order does not go through - and if you try to go through the ordering process again, Amazon tells you that you've aready claimed the deal even though you haven' because your order didn't actually go throught. And the reason I know mine isn't an isolated case is that I have several friends who've also tried to order the set and we've all experienced the same problem - and I just got off the phone with Amazon support, who said they are aware of the problem, they're trying to fix it, and we should all try to order the set again in about 2 hours. And we should disregard that it says that such and such a percentage of the sets are already sold because those are sets that are attributed to order attempts that have never actually gone through. The whole situation seems to be a big mess. [hall2_rolleyes]
However, if all this is too much for anyone to deal with, TVD Season 2 will supposedly be on sale for the rest of the day at Amazon for $12.99 starting at 12:30pm PST (3:30pm EST). And that's the same price that Season 1 went for during Amazon's Lightning deal last year. And that's a great deal. But who's to say the same sort of problems won't still be going on if they're not actually fixed by the time the Lightning deal ends? [hall2_undecided]
But if you want to abandon Amazon altogether TVD Season 2 is also on sale today on Target's Web site for $12.99. However, there you will have to pay shipping (even on orders over $25) - and you will also have to pay sales tax if applicable in your state. Though it might be worth it if the same hassle continues to go on at Amazon. And even with tax/shipping, the final cost will still be cheaper than Amazon's and other Web site's and store's regular prices. [hall2_wink]

I got season 2 today at FYE today for $17.99. It's more than the prices MB saw, but it was in the store, nice and simple.

That's still an excellent price, and it comes close to what people would have been able to get it for by ordering from Target's Web site. [hall2_smiley]
I was able to get the set for $9.99 from Amazon - but not until after both a phone call (which got me nowhere - but I swear it went to India) and a polite but disgruntled e-mail (which finally did the trick).
