This discussion of DS music reminded me of my trip back home from Crawfordsville, Indiana after seeing Jonathan's show back in 2001. There was some fog, not many cars on some of the back roads and I had my DS music going. Wow, I had a white knuckle grip on the steering wheel almost all the way back hom to Chicago. A great time!

I am listening. It started out with the VTR announcer guy's little rap at the beginning of episode one, followed by Vicki's voiceover from that episode. It then switched to just the music. Some very committed deejay has arranged the tracks that were used in the first two weeks of the shows in the order in which they were played. Ingenious!
I don't know how to record stuff that is streaming off the internet. It would be a fun thing to save and play later on.
The deejay just came on and identified himself (or his program?) as "Circumference." He identified the first block of music as all the tracks from episode one. Now he is playing all the cues for episode 2. In order! I love this! If I lived in SF I would take this guy out to lunch to thank him.
Hope other fans besides me are getting to hear this. The station sounds very cool. On Saturdays they have a program called the Norman Bates Memorial something or other. Isn't that wild?

The announcer mentioned that the original recording of the DS theme was accomplished on "a Yamaha keyboard with a string attached" because they couldn't find a theremin player in NYC. Fascinating! I had never heard that.
Is "House of Despair" a title given to one of the DS cues, Midnite? I really need to pick up that big box set...

He probably got that about a theremin from Bob Cobert's interviews (including the one on the Soundtrack Collection, and yes, you mustttt add it to your collection!) or Fest presentations.
"House of Despair" is the first in the series of Big Finish audio CDs. That one was written by Stuart, who I feel has a superior grasp of the DS mood and characters.

I was able to catch most of part 2 of "House of Despair." Interesting to hear it... Part 3 is coming up in 15 minutes!

It was OK. I guess I found the occasion/idea of Parker, Selby, Karlen and Scott working together on a DS story again more exciting than the actual realization. Excellent production values, though--I will say that for it.
