Title: Vampire Diaries Marathon Begins Tonight
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on December 14, 2009, 07:04:33 PM
For those of you who have heard how good The Vampire Diaries has become and regret not watching, this week the CW is having a marathon of the ten eps that have shown so far. From 8-10 ET tonight, Eps #1 & #2 run, tomorrow night Eps #3 & #4, and so on through Friday.

I'd seen an episode or two and thought it was okay. I enjoyed the two opening episodes tonight. I'll probably tune in this week and see where it goes. Not badly written.

It definitely gets more interesting and intriguing as it goes on. And a lot of the romance/angst that some complained about in the early eps is really necessary to lay foundations for what comes later. It most definitely pays off in some big and often surprising ways. And the cliffhanger ending of Ep #10 - well, let's just say I can't wait for January 21st for the show to return...

Thank you for posting this, MB.  I originally watched the first 3 episodes.  I was lukewarm about it, my aunt didn't care for it, and there are other things to keep up with, so I quit.  Then I started reading the comments here from subsequent episodes and was wishing I had continued watching it.

I had noticed the pilot plus another episode listed for Monday, but didn't know if they were doing all of it.  Fortunately, I saw this, and since I had already seen the beginning, I was able to start with Tuesday and get caught up.  It definitely got a lot more exciting in the later episodes.  My aunt still isn't too thrilled with it, though!

One funny thing that had me worried for a bit.  I had 6 episodes on one disk [3 through 8].  I had watched 5 and 6 the previous night, recorded 9 and 10 on a different disk Friday, and then went to watch 7 and 8.  It wouldn't load - it kept saying there was a disk error and to eject the disk!!  Well, I couldn't go on to see 9 and 10 if I hadn't seen 7 and 8, so it looked like I'd be stopped there.  I took the disk out and discovered that, since I had temporarily put it at the top of the pile of disks in the case, instead of further down where it belonged, when I picked it up to use again, the little paper that sits on top of the pile had been picked up with the disk, and the machine was trying to read the paper!
