Title: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on May 12, 2009, 03:11:40 PM
Here's a game that I found elsewhere on the net, though without the essential Dark Shadows component.

One person posts a choice: Either "this" or "that".  The next person puts their choice and why they would chose it over the other one, briefly giving his or her reason, whatever it may be.  That same person then contributes an new Either/Or, whereupon someone else answers, gives a reason, and creates a new Either/Or.

Choices can be between two people, places, things, spells, storylines - anything related to Dark Shadows!

Here's an example:
Either Dr. Lang's house,

Or Nicholas Blair's house.

Given this choice, I would pick Nicholas Blair's house.  It has an excellent basement, suitable for coffin storage, unholy ceremonies, and Diabolos only knows what else.  As a woman whose house has naught but a crawl space underneath it, I have a high regard for a good basement.

This choice is for the next poster:

Either the wig that Grayson Hall wore when she first played Julia Hoffman,

Or the wig that Kathryn Leigh Scott wore when she first played Maggie Evans.

To assist in decision-making, I am including pictures of the competing wigs.

I choose Maggie Evan's wig. I think it added to her "straight shooter, no nonsense" character.

This question comes from the Adam/Eve story line...

Either Angelique's "vampire" dress, or Eve's black dress?

(can anyone provide pics for me? I don't have any.)

Here are two captures that were already posted for the Caption This! or Complete This Phrase / Fill In The Blanks games (which is also where Lydia found her captures [ghost_smiley] [thumb]):

Angelique's shroud:

Eve's cocktail dress:

Instructions on how to post captures from other topics into new topics can be found here:
The Rules And How To Add Captures/Set Ups/Etc. To This Board.
It's an excellent way to recycle captures that have already been posted - plus it saves on the Forum's Web space.  [ghost_wink]
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on May 13, 2009, 12:38:27 PM
The picture of Eve's dress isn't showing up for me, but if I remember correctly, it was black and knee-length, and it featured unnecessary extra material.  I'm not 100% certain that Willie didn't get it off of a corpse, but it won't show the dirt as much as that white get-up of Angelique's, so I'm choosing it.

Next choice (no pictures needed, I think):

Either Sam Evans,

Or Charles Delaware Tate.
Title: Re: Either/Or

Either the wig that Grayson Hall wore when she first played Julia Hoffman

I thought that was Ms. Hall's real hair?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on May 13, 2009, 09:28:47 PM
Janet the Wicked, I believe it has been conclusively established that Julia's first hairdo was a wig, but this opens up exciting new either/or possibilities.  "So-and-so's hair in episode xxx: either real or a wig."

In the meantime, we're stuck with the latest either/or: Sam Evans or Charles Delaware Tate?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Janet the Wicked on May 14, 2009, 01:51:47 PM
Oh. Well, I'll pick Sam. He reminds me of me. Except that I'm not a man, I don't have a beard, and I don't smoke a pipe.

Either enjoying the dubious pleasures of the village with Quentin Collins

Or sitting on the dock with Joe Haskell at lunch time eating codfish balls and sipping coffee out of a thermos.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: MaggieEvans on May 14, 2009, 04:01:42 PM
Since I think it would be too time consuming to find the balls on a cod, I opt for enjoying time with Quentin!

Would you rather have coffee at the diner with Maggie, or drinks at the Blue Whale with Carolyn?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: CallieWL on May 14, 2009, 07:09:57 PM
That's a tough one.  I don't drink coffee, but I don't drink a lot of booze either.  Think I'll go with Maggie, and have tea instead.  I can pick up on all the town gossip and don't have to put up with the excessive amounts of cigarette smoke.

Either a roll in the hay with post-Barn Willie...

Or a roll in the hay with Nicholas Blair.
Title: Re: Either/Or

Since I think it would be too time consuming to find the balls on a cod..
You just have to know where to look.  [lol2]

Quote
Either a roll in the hay with post-Barn Willie...

Or a roll in the hay with Nicholas Blair.

Post-Barn Willie. He needs a good roll in the hay. (besides...I'm not into leather, lol)

Either Mrs. Hutchins bird or Aunt Hanna's cockatiel?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on May 15, 2009, 11:47:54 PM
I can't remember either bird, but a parallel time cockatiel who has lived with the parallel time Stokeses sounds too good to pass up.

Either A very special tour of the cannery just for you, conducted by Roger Collins...

Or A very special tour of the shipyard just for you, conducted by Joshua Collins.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: loril54 on April 22, 2010, 05:26:05 AM
A tour by Joshua, I would love to back in time, in the late 1700's.

How about a little brother, like David,
Or a little sister like Amy

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on June 27, 2010, 12:26:15 PM
I'd choose Amy as a sibling over David without a second thought, because Amy is always loyal to members of her family.

Either Barnabas's cane,

Or Barnabas's ring.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Janet the Wicked on July 13, 2011, 11:59:15 PM
I need the cane. Arthritis, you know.

Either Dr. Lang’s harpoon collection
Or Quentin’s I-Ching wands
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: loril54 on July 16, 2011, 10:15:54 PM
I will take the I ching wands.  I would love to go back and fix some of my mistakes. :)

Either Vicki's dresses, with sleeves

Or Vicki's dresses, without sleeves

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on November 26, 2011, 08:34:26 PM
The sleeveless dresses, of course. It seems to be the definitive fashion statement for Vicki and the program itself.

Who would you rather see perform live?

Pansy Faye at the music halls

Or Olivia Corey, the toast of Broadway?

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: loril54 on December 22, 2011, 12:49:47 AM
Pansy Faye, I think she had a better time.

With Tom and Chris Jennings.

What curse would be easier to live with?

Being a vampire or a werewolf?

(disregard how they ended up in the show)
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on December 22, 2011, 01:10:20 AM
Curse of the vampire, as long as you didn't go around hissing all the time.   [santa_cheesy]  Vampires have it way easier.  They know what they have done and they do it every night...  not this forgetful, once-in-a-full moon conspiracy.

Would you rather have Elizabeth Collins Stoddard or Judith Collins on your side?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on December 22, 2011, 02:02:53 PM
Elizabeth Collins Stoddard.  Judith was a narcissistic harridan.

Who would you want to clean your mansion -- Betch Chavez or Mrs. Johnson?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on December 23, 2011, 04:44:19 AM
While I'd love to live in (or visit often) a mansion in which Mrs. Johnson worked, I would not want her working in MY mansion.  Far too nosy.  She'd be great to work with or visit though. So, for my housekeeper, I'd say Beth.  She was all about keeping things on the "down low".   [santa_wink]

Would you rather put up with Jeb Hawkes or Michael Hackett Todd?

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on December 23, 2011, 05:41:40 PM
Michael hands down! At least he's a young teen and would be easier to get under control. Who could put up with a fully grown cheap, insufferable pig like Jeb??!!  [yikes]

And in a similar vein, who would you be more willing to put with on a daily basis: Adam (after Nicholas had changed him) or Ned Stuart?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on December 23, 2011, 06:24:32 PM
MB!  That's just not fair!!!!! [santa_wink]

I'd say Ned Stuart.  He wasn't really around that long!!!

Either a sedative with Julia or a Brandy with Roger?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on December 24, 2011, 08:50:52 AM
Brandy with Roger.  Who could resist his dry sense of humor?

Chris Jennings as a werewolf or Quentin Collins as a werewolf?  (Big difference, I know!)
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: loril54 on December 24, 2011, 09:36:23 AM
The Gals, would say Quentin, he looked better without a shirt.

Which song did you become sick of ?

London Bridge or I Want to Dance With You?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on December 24, 2011, 03:55:52 PM
London Bridge, though I would love to have heard Sarah sign Fergie's version

Which female vampire would you rather have attack you? Roxanne Drew or Megan Todd?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on December 30, 2011, 10:11:02 PM
Hmmm...  I'm not sure.  Roxanne?  At least she knew what she was doing...   [8_2_73]

Would you rather be gifted a Sarah Collins doll or a Barnabas toy soldier?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on January 04, 2012, 11:24:51 AM
I'd go for a member of the regiment.  There's lots more interesting detail there.

Either the west wing of Collinwood

Or the east wing of Collinwood.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: ClaudeNorth on January 11, 2012, 02:19:19 AM
The east wing.  That Parallel Time room would be more entertaining than just about anything on television.

Spending an afternoon with

Either present-day Ezra Braithwaite

Or the Eagle Hill Cemetery caretaker.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Miss_Winthrop on January 17, 2012, 01:13:16 AM
I'd prefer the present day Ezra Brathwaite since I'd put him to work fashioning a silver-cross for me instead of the Eagle Hill Cemetary 'centarian' as he converses with the vampire warning him of the danger he is in if he doesn't leave right away.

Would you prefer either Lobster Roll at the Collinsport Inn or one of Mrs Johnson's famous boiled dinners?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on January 17, 2012, 09:27:00 AM
Anything at the Collinsport inn--even if you didn't like it, you could always send it back!

Which would rather have as the estate's caretaker?

Dirk Wilkins or Chris Jennings  [snow_huh]
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on January 17, 2012, 03:12:50 PM
Tough choice.  Chris Jennings.

Hoffman or Dr. Hoffman...
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on January 20, 2012, 09:58:55 PM
Dr. Hoffman.  At least, if she didn't like you, she had a good reason.

Either the drawing room at Collinwood or the drawing room at the Old House
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: arashi on January 21, 2012, 02:58:28 AM
Drawing room at Collinwood. It has those lovely windows that look out on the ocean/a 200 foot vertical drop/the woods/the veranda/the tower/or whatever else you might have cause to look out the window and see. Also, it has a secret passageway and that is just awesome.

Maggie's wardrobe or Vicki's wardrobe?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on January 21, 2012, 03:40:42 AM
Maggies.  She had style, she had grace, she had flair, the flashy girl from Collinsport....the Nanny named Mag.

Either Cyrus or John....
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on January 30, 2012, 12:40:41 PM
Breathes there the fan, with soul so dead, Who never to herself hath said, "Cyrus Longworth is a nice guy, and John Yaeger is a stinker!"  I choose Cyrus, without a second thought.

Either the bleeder valve
Or The Pen.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on January 30, 2012, 01:53:46 PM
The Pen!  We've had so much fun with it!

Either Amy or Hallie?

(OT Lydia, i had to recite that poem in 5th grade at an assembly...my mother was so upset trying to get me to learn it.  WHY would you ask a child to recite a poem like that...but i percerviered!)
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on February 29, 2012, 12:26:18 PM
Hallie.  Whatever her faults, at least she knew right from the start that her supernatural storyline was bad news, whereas Amy blithely welcomed Quentin's ghost like an old and cherished friend.

Either  "My name is Victoria Winters."

Or  "A séance has been held in the great house of Collinwood, a séance which has suspended time and space and sent one girl on an uncertain and frightening journey into the past, back to the year 1795.  There, each of the Collins ancestors resembles a present-day member of the Collins family, but the names and relationships have changed, and Victoria Winters finds herself a stranger in a sea of familiar faces."
Title: Re: Either/Or

My name is Victoria Winters. It's over quicker.

Quentin's theme or Ode to Angelique
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Janet the Wicked on March 01, 2012, 01:20:06 AM
Quentin's Theme. Every time I hear it, I picture Quentin sitting beside his gramaphone getting stinkoed. And who doesn't like to look at Quentin?

Mrs. Johnson's cooking or breakfast at the Collinsport Diner?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 01, 2012, 06:38:42 AM
The diner. You can send it back if you don't like it.

Which Collins attorney: Richard Garner or Evan Hanley
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Cousin_Barnabas on March 01, 2012, 08:00:40 AM
Richard Garner.  Although I think he hid a lot of stuff from our little governess, he had a legitimate reason, making him more trustworthy than Evan.  And he was in a coffee commercial!

Elizabeth's Mausoleum or Laura Murdoch's Crypt?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 01, 2012, 08:21:12 PM
Elizabeth's. It's custom made, with all the special features that you just don't see in your basic mausoleum.

Who would you rather see perform live: Olivia Corey, the toast of Broadway or Leticia Faye, who appeared before the crowned heads of Europe?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on March 02, 2012, 01:48:39 AM
Leticia Faye of course!  Looks ain't everything you know!

Either Charity's Bible or a novel by Flora?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 02, 2012, 03:23:49 AM
The Jacqueline Susann of 1840, Flora Collins!

Whose artwork would you want in your home? Sam Evans or Charles Delaware Tate?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on March 16, 2012, 05:25:22 PM
Sam's.  The 1967 portrait of Barnabas, if I had my choice.

Either Joel Crothers
Or Michael T. Weiss.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 16, 2012, 08:37:55 PM
Wow, now that's a tough choice to make and would require a lot of, ahem, research. But I think the choice would be Michael.

Which book would you rather read: Angelique's Descent or anything by Marilyn Ross?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on March 17, 2012, 01:47:06 AM
Marilyn "Dan" Ross of course.  They're classics.

Either the Mausoleum or the Cave?

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 17, 2012, 05:54:00 AM
The Mausoleum! Caves are so last year.

Which executive would you rather work for--Burke Devlin or Sky Rumson?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on March 17, 2012, 07:46:25 PM
Burke Devlin.  I always prefer to work for a boss who isn't in partnership with...well, you know who.

Either the scent of jasmine
Or the scent of lilacs.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 17, 2012, 08:09:13 PM
Lilacs.

Who do you think was the better housekeeper Hoffman or Mrs. Johnson?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on March 17, 2012, 10:27:46 PM
Mrs. Johnson.  I remember a certain costume ball at Collinwood wherein Hoffman walked all through the house a picked up nary a glass!  For days it seemed.

Either Maggie's Panties or Quentin's Nipple?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 18, 2012, 12:49:28 AM
 [snow_wink] Maggie's Lollipop panties.

Who would you rather employ as a secretary Daphne Budd or Daphne Collins?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on September 01, 2012, 11:57:34 AM
A difficult choice, requiring five months of serious consideration, but I have decided to go with Daphne Collins because I've actually seen her.  I've never seen House of Dark Shadows.

Either the black nurse at Collinsport Hospital in episode 563:

or Istvan in episode 821:

Title: Re: Either/Or

Hello, nurse! She's got dialogue and doesn't seem to be the least bit intimidated by Mr. Blair (Lucky he didn't turn her into a lamp or something.). She also brings a little bit of reality into the DS universe. Plus she's got spunk. And, unlike a certain Mr. Grant, I love spunk.

Now it's time to pick your zombies. Which group do you prefer--the Leviathan group with Sheriff Davenport or the ones that Gerard had wreck Collinwood?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: ClaudeNorth on September 01, 2012, 11:51:25 PM
The Leviathan group.  Sheriff Davenport reminded me of Tim Conway's "old man" character on the Carol Burnett Show.

Next, decide who is the rightful 'hair' [ghost_wacko] to the throne:  Lara Parker's Cassandra wig or Lisa Richard's PT Sabrina wig.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on September 02, 2012, 12:26:28 AM
Gothick would kill us all if we didn't pick Cassandra's wig!!  [wink2]

Either John Yaeger's walking stick (which was prone to fall apart) or the rifle (which did fall apart) that Barnabas used to try to hold off Adam?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on September 05, 2012, 04:17:59 AM
The John Yaeger walking stick. I remember laughing like he'll over back in the day.

Who would rather have as a waitress: Buffie Harrington or Maggie Evans?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on September 06, 2012, 07:18:39 PM
Well, both are screaming mimi's, annoying and full of shyt.  [ghost_mad]  That being said, this is a rough choice.     [ghost_undecided]

Maggie would give you free stale coffee and pie in a heartbeat, whereas Buffy would probably suck the last dime out of  you and whine about not having a tip (and remember, she can't even find money in her purse without spilling it on the table to look for it).  While Maggie is very opinionated, Buffy can be caustic and downright mouthy.  Maggie does have a neat and clean appearance and she seems to have her hair in place everyday, the style being dictated by the hat and uniform of du jour.   Buffy's hair, not so much.

So, I'd have to choose Maggie, purely for aesthetics and that alone.   [ghost_wub]

NEW:

Either Roger telling you off or Elizabeth telling you off.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on September 13, 2012, 06:48:59 PM
A tough decision but I'm going to go with Roger. Elizabeth would probably dismiss you once she's said her piece.  Discussion is over, period. With Roger, there's more chance of debate. You still probably wouldn't win the argument but you at least have a shot at getting your point across. And you'd probably get some very memorable quotes out of Roger.

Now, whose book would you rather read, one of the many novels of Flora Collins or something by William H. Loomis?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on October 29, 2012, 08:20:23 PM
A Flora Collins novel - a nice period piece.

Tarot cards or crystal ball?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on October 29, 2012, 09:40:14 PM
Crystal Ball. One bigger than David's (not that I'm envious).

Sam Evans' pipe or Dr. Woodard's hat?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on October 31, 2012, 07:00:55 AM
The hat--love that hat!

Who would you rather have as a governess: Rachel Drummond or Daphne Harridge?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on December 13, 2012, 12:06:38 PM
Rachel Drummond, purely because I'd rather live with the 1897 family than with the 1840 crowd.

Roy Thinnes or Jonny Lee Miller?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on December 19, 2012, 07:35:28 AM
If we are comparing Rogers, neither of them holds a candle to Mr. Edmonds. I'll go with Roy Thinnes simply because he gets to fool around with Ely Pouget's Maggie, while Mr. Miller gets the coatroom attendant.

Which animal would you prefer--Joshua the cat or Hannah Stokes' bird?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on December 19, 2012, 07:46:55 AM
Joshua. (The bird might know how to talk.)

Pansy's boa or Cassandra's butterfly dress?

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on December 20, 2012, 09:56:24 PM
Pansy's boa. Timeless and the perfect accessory for just about any outfit.

Which book would you rather read: The Life and Death of Barnabas Collins or The Ghost at Corinth Bend?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on February 03, 2013, 11:06:18 AM

The Ghost at Corinth Bend.  What we hear of The Life and Death of Barnabas Collins suggests to me that it wouldn’t be terribly interesting.

Either Jamison’s dream about the birthday party for David in episode 767:

Or Elizabeth’s Leviathan dream in episode 904:

Lizzie's dream, 'cause give me psychadelia every tiime.  I'm very visual.   David's dream laid the gloomy irony on pretty thick, without being at all witty about it.

Parallel Quentin 1970, or parallel Quentin 1841?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on February 03, 2013, 02:44:08 PM
Quentin '41, because PTQ was a jerk (or an idiot, or both) and a bad dresser.

Phyllis Wick or Vicki Winters for Miss Governess of Territory of Maine 1795?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on February 09, 2013, 05:33:33 AM
Neither Phyllis nor Vicky would make the short list, if I had anything to do with it: they both were dimwits.  But we are told that Vicky learned how to manage Sarah, whereas we have no idea if Phyllis was capable of learning anything, so I'm choosing Vicky.

Incestors or Grandmamamma?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on February 14, 2013, 05:15:31 PM
Incestors. Classic moment and Louis realizes that he's made a boo boo and covers it beautifully.

Which seance would you rather have attended--the one that sends Vicki back to 1795 or the one where PT Angelique is murdered?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on February 15, 2013, 06:53:30 PM
PTQ was a jerk (or an idiot, or both) and a bad dresser

And once again I feel the need to defend 1970PT Quentin. The man had issues galore. And as much as so many might want to deny it and/or block it out, his clothes were considered quite stylish for 1970. Just check just about any magazine/TV show/film from the era.  [snow_wink]

But getting back to the game, I would have much preferred to have attended the 1970PT seance. A much more eclectic and therefore interesting crowd. As much as I love the original present day Collinses, they and their associates could be awfully stuffy.  [snow_cheesy]

And as for the next choice: would you prefer some sort of sexual encounter with NoDS Angelique and/or Charles or 1841PT's Catherine and/or Bramwell?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on February 28, 2013, 10:22:19 AM
The real question for me is: which of the possibilities would be the least unpleasant?  Bramwell would spend the encounter wishing I were Catherine.  Catherine is not my preferred gender of sex partner, and I have the same objection to Angelique (while noting that it is interesting that we get two Lara Parkers in this quartet of choices).  Charles would be an unknown quantity because I've never seen Night of Dark Shadows.  I think I'd go for Bramwell and Catherine together.  They would be so absorbed in each other that they would never notice it when I snuck off to find a good book to read.

Who is the more attractive male in this capture: Nicholas Blair or Colonel Mustache?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on February 28, 2013, 04:53:20 PM
Nicholas--for making gray a great color choice. A complete outfit of a single color can be, well, monotonous but it works quite well for Mr. Blair.

Which Dark Shadows novel would you prefer to read--something by Lara Parker or something from Marilyn Ross?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on March 20, 2013, 10:02:40 AM
Marilyn Ross, purely because it would be shorter.

1795 or 1897?

1795--Because it's the first flashback. Nice performances, great clothes and it's over quicker.

Who would you prefer to have as an attorney: Desmond Collins or Evan Hanley?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on March 30, 2013, 08:24:47 AM
Desmond Collins.  He might lose my case, but at least I could be reasonably certain that he wouldn't go summon Angelique to foul things up even further.

Which room would you be more interested in seeing: a bathroom at Collinwood or the kitchen at the Old House?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on March 30, 2013, 08:45:33 AM
Well, if I was there, I would definitely be looking for a bathroom at some point.

Who would you rather have predict your future--Leticia Faye or Carrie Stokes PT 1841?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on April 02, 2013, 08:24:29 AM
I'd choose Leticia.  There is no doubt that both Carrie and Leticia would prophesy doom and disaster for me, because that's what happens when you get your fortune told on Dark Shadows.  But Leticia, unlike Carrie, might give me a laugh or two in the process, and I think that Leticia, unlike Carrie, would try to help me to avoid the doom and disaster that she prophesied.  It wouldn't work, of course, but it's the thought that counts.

Is it better to watch one episode at a time or many episodes in a row?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on April 18, 2013, 06:05:31 AM
One at a time, as that's the way that the show was meant to be seen.

Who do you feel is the more sinister housekeeper--Hoffman or Carlotta Drake?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Lydia on May 01, 2013, 04:29:20 AM
Carlotta Drake.  Although (as I have previously noted) I've never seen Night of Dark Shadows, my understanding is that Carlotta is in reasonably direct touch with supernatural forces, whereas Hoffman merely has a friend who is.

Where would you prefer to be buried: in the basement of Collinwood or under the floor of the secret room of the mausoleum?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on May 03, 2013, 06:38:10 AM
The basement of Collinwood. There seems to be less bad karma there.

Would you rather buy a painting by Sam Evans or Charles Delaware Tate?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: quentincollins on May 26, 2013, 05:33:27 PM
Tate for sure. It might come to life or make me immortal, or at least would probably be worth more money than Sam's work.

Who's the sexier werewolf, Quentin or Chris?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on May 26, 2013, 06:32:26 PM
I've always been partial to Chris, genuinely  nice, always trying to do the right thing. I think that David Selby is a fine actor wield genuine charisma but the character of Quentin is not.

Who do you think was the more predatory vampire--Roxanne or Angelique?/
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: michael c on May 26, 2013, 09:19:06 PM
Roxanne seemed much more feral. even as a vampire Angelique's decisions seemed calculated for additional gain...

lunch at the collinsport diner or dinner at the bangor pine?

Provided he gets automatic time-off for "that time of the month", no questions asked, then sane but occasionally cranky and furry Chris is the cxaretaker of choice.   Well, I'm not sure how much work Chris ever got done.   It's jard to imagine him doing all of Matthew Morgan's grunt work.   Wait, no, MM #1 couldn't have done all that much at his age, even though MM32 (Matthew the Next Generation) could.

Sometimes the job of caretaker seemed like a monumental physical job for one person, and sometimes it seemed more like an honorary thing:  more like going around and checking to see everything's locked up for the night etc..

Still, Chris.

The Eagle (RT), or the Blue Whale?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: loril54 on April 03, 2014, 11:52:00 PM
I would chose the Eagle, the Jute box at the Blue Whale had some lame music. Plus the Eagle had the great cane scene.

A portrait by Charles Delaware Tate or a Pact with the Devil that you will live forever.

I hope this hasn't been mentioned didn't read through the whole thread. I just felt like dropping by.
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on April 12, 2014, 10:08:07 PM
I would probably opt for the Charles Delaware Tate portrait. It seems like a better deal.

Who would be more fun to get drunk with: Sam Evans or parallel time Timothy Stokes?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on April 13, 2014, 01:57:35 AM
Sam (Mark Allen)

either Gerard's sneer or Quentin's leer?
Title: Re: Either/Or

Quentin.

Whose signature scent would you prefer: Josette's jasmine or Daphne's lilac?
Title: Re: Either/Or

I can't deny that I love the smell of lilacs.

Who was the most loyal servant Matthew Morgan (1966) or Istvan (1897)
Title: Re: Either/Or

Istvan! Follows orders to a T with absolutely no back talk!

Which one is the maddest mad scientist Eric Lang or Cyrus Longworth?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on August 30, 2014, 09:17:51 PM
Well, both thought they had grand motives - but really, Longworth's motives were far more grander than Lang's. In the end, though, Longworth's good intentions unleashed something far worse on the world than he ever intended. Something far worse than Adam (even the Adam who was under Nicholas' control). But still, I'd say Longworth was more misguided than mad. So, I choose Lang as the madder of the two.  [ghost_wink]

Who dealt with her husband better Liz or Judith?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on August 31, 2014, 12:30:01 AM
I would have to say Judith. Not only did she make sure the job was done, she followed up with phone calls.

Which signature theme do you prefer? Josette's Music Box or Ode to Angelique?
Title: Re: Either/Or

Chuckle, Unc.  Follow-through is important.

Which signature theme do you prefer? Josette's Music Box or Ode to Angelique?

Josette's by a mile.  Ang's tune is a Josette's theme wanna be.

Jeb's zombie army, or Gerard's zombie army?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on November 15, 2014, 06:30:25 PM
Gerard's. I don't even remember Jeb's zombie army, so G's must have been much more impressive.

Old House 1800s or Old House 1900s?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: MagnusTrask on November 15, 2014, 07:25:23 PM
Yes, Gerard's zombies are far more memorable.  I used to keep forgetting that Jeb did it first.  I think this is when Louis Edmonds gave his least enthusiastic performance, reacting with "Oh my God!" but as if because of a contractual obligation, so I suspect he found invading zombies in the foyer a bit hard to take seriously.

The Old House and anyplace in the 1800s over anyplace in the 1900s, definitely.  Atmosphere-- the often plain and matter-of-fact 60s can't compete.

Fave no-talker:  Abraham Howell, whose hand was used as a decoy Petofi Hand... or that startled guy Tate drew into existence?
Title: Re: Either/Or

The Tate guy. Someone who truly didn't understand.

Where would you prefer to shop: Brewster's or the Todd's antique store?

Brewsters....Orbach's knock offs at great prices.   [santa_undecided]

Tony's trench coat or Trask's suit....
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Mysterious Benefactor on December 05, 2014, 08:52:15 PM
Do you mean 1795/96's Rev Trask?

(And this is a bit late but I love Ode to Angelique - its various arrangements are used to great effect in the 1970PT storyline.  [nodassent])

Cool Cat Trask, Butler in Parallel time...   [santa_grin]

Butler Trask all the way

Which costume party would you rather attend? The one given by Barnabas in 1967? Or the one hosted by Maggie Collins in PT 1970?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on December 16, 2014, 06:20:42 PM
Definetly Maggie's PT extravaganza.  The 67 party was kind of boring with everyone sitting around the drawing room in the Old House with sour pusses on (well, except for  Victoria who had that dear in the headlights doofy look on her face).

Who would you want to hang out with on a night on the town, King Johnny or Count Petofi?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on February 07, 2015, 07:05:13 PM
King Johnny, party dude. Probably a hangover the next morning, maybe even a missing wallet. But a night to remember, with none of Petofi's ulterior motives.

You're going to an art show. Would you rather see the paintings of Jeff Clark (HODS) or Quentin Collins (NODS)?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on March 06, 2015, 07:40:11 PM
Quentin Collins...(well, except for the EYE!)  I don't think we even saw any of Jeff's paintings in HODS.

who would you trust to keep your house....Carlotta Drake or Beth Chavez....
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on April 04, 2015, 03:34:03 PM
Beth. More integrity, less ulterior motives.

Who would make the better governess: Rachel Drummond or Daphne Harridge?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on April 04, 2015, 04:36:38 PM
Rachel/Didn't come to Collinwood to kill.

Preferred prison? Either closed off wing upstairs at Collinwood or downstairs in the Old House basement?

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on April 04, 2015, 05:14:29 PM
Upstairs at Collinwood. There seems to be much more traffic there.

Who would you want as your physician? Cyrus Longworth or Julia Hoffman?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: dom on April 04, 2015, 05:27:25 PM
Julia/I'll take drugs over potions any day.

Either vampire bites or witch's curses?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on May 25, 2015, 03:18:53 PM
Witch's curse. More variations, more surprises.

Who would you rather be sailing on the ocean with: Gerard Stiles on the Java Queen or Joe Haskell on his fishing boat?
Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Willie Loomis on December 18, 2015, 06:43:41 PM
Hmmmmm.....I'd have to say Gerard Stiles....he's compelling (in many many ways.... [santa_cool] [santa_wink])

Julia Hoffman's green wool suit or Phillip Todds gray plaid pants....

Title: Re: Either/Or
Post by: Uncle Roger on December 18, 2015, 08:35:32 PM
Julia's suit is timeless. It's as fashionable (or unfashionable, depending on your taste) today as it was in 1968.

Who would most dread having as a schoolteacher: Dorcas Trolling or Charity Trask?
