how about some "vintage" ideas.. . .things that the characters could've actually listened too .. . I think Julia was a big Frank Sinatra fan .. am I wrong??? David probably had some Monkees albums or something. . ?? Carolyn. . .?? Maybe Quentin, being so hip, had some Motown???

I understand Mrs. Johnson had a radio in the kitchen, although I believe she would listen to soaps or the local gossip show..

Elizabeth... was always a big band fan and listened to the sounds of Benny Goodman
Roger... seems like he would enjoy cocktail music.
Carolyn was always the hip chick and always enjoyed the Blue Whale songs.
David looks like he would have been a Beatles fan, isn't that a Beatles hair cut he has?
Vickie is more into the romance songs of the Carpenters
or sunny and cher.
Barnabas was never one to listen to anything but live music, his favorites being string quartets and believe it or not flute music.
Quentin, being the romantic searching soul can only enjoy music that gives him peace... or CCR's Bad Moon Rising.
Julia's music taste has always been one of fun and frolic, songs such as the lime in the coconut, my friend the witchdoctor, or doctor, doctor.
Maggie was always into music box's

I imagine Julia sitting in her room at night, cigarettes and brandy by her side, listening to Judy Garland's "The Man That Got Away" over and over and over...

Just returned from my daughter's first summer voice lesson.

She and the teacher were discussing what songs she'd like to work on.

The teacher suggested "Can't Help Lovin' That Man of Mine".

I instantly pictured Julia singing it.  Had to bite the inside of my cheek hard enough to bleed to keep from howling with laughter.  I'm sure the teacher thinks I'm insane.

I gotta stop hanging around this forum.

Barnabas..."Night Moves" by Bob Seger...

BARNABAS:
I woke last night to the sound of thunder,
Where is Angelique this time, I sit and wonder...
Starting humming a waltz from 1795...
Strange how the night moves,
Even stranger is why I'm still alive...

Angelique might like to sing along with the following G&S song, from Princess Ida:

Come, mighty Must!
 Inevitable Shall!
In thee I trust;
 Time weaves my coronal!
Go, mocking Is!
 Go, disappointing Was!
That I am this
 Ye are the cursed cause!
Yet humble second shall be first, I ween,
And dead and buried be the curst Has Been!

Oh, weak Might Be!
Oh, May, Might, Could, Would, Should!
How pow'rless ye
 For evil or for good!
In ev'ry sense
 Your moods I cheerless call.
Whate'er your tense
 Ye are imperfect all.
Ye have deceiv'd the trust I've shown in ye!
Away! The mighty Must alone shall be!

I started to go with "Paint It Black".

"Sweet Painted Ladies" is on one of the first Elton John albums I bought. The whole thing is a classic from start to finish.

"Dirty Little Girl" I can do without, but every great EJ has that one I don't think much of... other than that, brilliant start to finish.  I miss having an EJ board to talk about this stuff on.   My sig elsewhere from "Sweet Painted Lady": "I'm back on dry land once again, opportunity awaits me like a rat in a drain..." great gloomy Bernie Taupin line.

I'm done with the OT.   I needed that.
