Those two were so sophisticated, literate, wonderful gentlemen, and from what I have been able to determine, in real life were perhaps even more fascinating than the characters they played with such poise on the show.

It was that wonderfully expressive face and underlying sadness that was so attractive. And yes his voice was the most sexy of all the men on the show and he didn't even have to work very hard at it's effectiveness.

I have come to appreciate the qualities many of the other male actors have (must mention Karlen, Mitch Ryan, Don Briscoe and Joel), but Jonathan Frid IS THE MAN when it comes to heat because he isn't classically sexy. His raging sex appeal is in the way he carries himself, the eyes that you simply MUST look into when shown up close, and as several others have mentioned, that voice. Quick, pass the smelling salts, I'm gettin' the vapors over here! LOL

As for hottest male...at the moment I'd have to say Jerry Lacy's Tony Peterson. Every time he's been on an episode during the Watching Project, I have wanted to go into paroxysms of praise in my post for that episode. In the end I was sternly telling myself, "Enough, already!" And now he's gone forever from the Watching Project, and I'm crying myself to sleep every night.

I sort of get that, because there are times I can't believe they let him in front of the cameras looking like that. But I think many people back then took smoker's teeth more in stride than they do now. And it's worth noting you never see that on his later pics. Julie :)

I've been thinking of Barnabas's teeth and the first time through the episodes I never noticed the smokers teeth but once someone mentioned them, I am sure now to notice them everytime I watch the episodes. [ghost_cheesy]

Barnabas is definitely sexy. Especially in the early days because he's all mysterious. [vampy] But he definitely keeps his sex appeal throughout the show (except when he's playing Bramwell, but I just plain don't like Bramwell); period clothing suited Jonathan Frid really well.

And, even though we're all well aware of this, I have to add that David Selby is definitely very handsome. But, in my opinion, once Quentin dropped the Victorian costumes and stopped being such a jerk, he wasn't all that sexy anymore. He wasn't the same without that edge he had in 1897 (most of 1897, anyway). [woryb]

Jeff is my second choice, also a very handsome man, and very devoted to Vicky. I've mentioned before how ethusiastic he was in his love scenes. You get the impression Jeff was one horny dude! He paws at Vicky ( and even Ned paws at his sister Sabrina ) like a junkyard dog in heat.

They are, the scene where Bramwell is fixing his tie after making love with Catherine, the scene with Kendrick and Melanie lying on the bed, fully clothed however still breathless and the scene where Josette is lying on her bed with a really dreamy look on her face after Barnabas had left her bedroom. I can find a scene sexy even if the people are fully clothed. I rather wonder if the new movie will be able to convey 'sexy' without the ripping off of clothes or, if the writers will succomb to many of today's audience's taste for 'slam bang thank you mam' passing for desire.

Too much instant gratificaton doesn't lend itself too much of a build up of sexual tension and once we actually see the physical act, it gets boring really quickly IMO. I thought one scene that seems really erotic is the scene where Barnabas appears in Charity's room and she submits to him. The scene where Quentin is dancing with Charity in the fantasy sequence isn't the least bit sexy to me but to some friends of mine, it is.

I do love shirtless boys however, I too at times enjoy the tension a scene like Charity and Barnabas' conveys. And on a current soap I watch I enjoy scenes like this that kind of lets you decide what happens. Thankfully General Hospital is probably the soap that doesn't RESORT to skin on a daily basis. Sometimes they go a month without sowing a shirtless man or half dressed woman. That is saying a lot for soaps today. A lot of people actually gripe but I think it makes the show better instead of looking like a show that comes on everyday to show off hot bodies. I would much rather have good stories than have nekkidness all the time. IE--Passions!!

I have a huge 2 Book Charmed one and two for 90210 and one for DS, but mostly my stuff consist of GH interviews and LOTS of stuff about the Revivial. Considering it was about 40 years ago and (at least where I live) the plastic grocery bags hadn't made their appearance yet, I think it looks like he's removing a white dress shirt from its packaging.
