Here's a recent photo of the 82 year old former vampire posing on his patio in a bathrobe, in day light no less!

Yeah, but he'll make it, no sweat - phoning into the Dark Shadows Fest in 2100 and thrilling our great-grandchildren.

What is this penchant Frid has for posing outside half-dressed? Next thing you know he'll be - no, lets not go there!  [santa_lipsrsealed]

Well, I was referring to more recent photos, like the one in this topic and the one posted in this one from last January:

And speaking of pictures, a funny anecdote about "My Son The Vampire" is that when one of my aunts saw the pictures of a bare chested Frid reading in bed and in the (gasp!) shower, in utter astonishment she showed them to my mom and marvelled that Frid would have allowed himself to be photographed "that way" and that children were allowed to see "such things."  ::)  ;D  If she were still alive today, I can't even begin to imagine what my aunt would think about the things that today's kids are routinely exposed to...

MB, I guess your aunt wouldn't approve of this photo either. :-X

There's also a penchant for some people to create supposedly "naked" photos of him too but it's a booming industry because there's always someone dumb enough to believe it's the real deal.

Besides, Mr. Frid wasn't "half dressed" on that patio, MB.  His bathrobe very respectfully goes all away around him and even matched the foliage in his backyard!

Do you dress to match your outdoor environment? [santa_rolleyes]

I might also add that that's the snazziest bathrobe I've ever seen.   [santa_cool]

Oh that article! I remember being so surprised when JF told the Dallas festival audience during the 1986 Q&A how that article was entirely made up.  Mrs. Frid never gave the interview and was pretty horrified to find herself featured in the magazine.  She had only attended a party her son gave for her while she visited New York City (one of his brothers was also there).  There wasn't any other communication with the magazine.  Interesting what you believed while a kid then find out much later as an adult!

I never thought a thing about the "picture".  Personally, I thought it was kind of cute.  His hair is rumple, he dosen't have his shoes on and he looks like he could use a cup coffee.  I think it's a great picture.

Um, hate to burst your bubble, but your link went to the exact same place as mine did!  ;)  I don't know what changed, but that link used to go RIGHT to page 4 w/the picture, at least it did this summer when I posted it in another thread.   [hdscrt]

When you post a URL with that goldstats.com garbage at the beginning, it frames the top of the page with the GoldStats branding -- search box and ad. As a webmaster -- and as the webmaster of this site in particular who knows that its owner pays not to have random advertising and junk placed on his pages -- I'm not a big fan of this. Because of that frame, you can browse to any page on Bob's site, and the URL stays the same. That's why your link won't go directly to the page you mention. I specifically design all of my very web sites to avoid this very problem. So there are two things about it that are irritating -- it sticks advertising on the site and it screws with the navigation. I don't need the Goldstats folks' help to look incompetent as a webmaster. I do just fine on my own.  [santa_cheesy]

If you're looking for the direct link to the page you mention, it's http://bobubas.topcities.com/big_lou__page_4.htm (http://bobubas.topcities.com/big_lou__page_4.htm).

That tree behind Mr. Frid appears to be in full Canadian autumn foliage.  If that's the case, and he's standing around in his bathrobe.....someone PLEASE get him back in the house, warmly dressed, and hand him a brandy!!!... [santa_rolleyes]

LOL, don't worry, Rainey, it was rather warmish the day this was taken.  The tree in his yard (to the right and mostly cut out) is breathtaking during the autumn.

Sally, in all of Jonathan's Q&As between 1998-2001 when he did some charity performances, he said that he had not ruled out going to another fest.  I tend to go with what an individual says about his own druthers opposed to outside speculation.   [santa_wink]  He's certainly never said to me he was never going to another festival ever.

Wow!  That's GREAT Nancy!   [santa_grin] I sure do hope he comes next year!  [santa_smiley] The highlight of the last Fest was Jonathan's phone call - and if I didn't loan my cell phone charger to Jim Pierson, it may not have happened at all!  [santa_wink]

Is it pink?  I thought it was more of a rose colored, or maybe even cranberry.

I'm almost afraid to ask, but what the hell.  What does 'keeping the flag flying' refer too.    [santa_azn]

I hasten to respond that "keep the flag flying" means nothing at all salacious or indelicate.  It simply means to keep the ship in sail, keep the fort firm, keep on ... keeping on, as some radio pundit or other used to say.

Clear?

Later: Now it's working again...(begin the Dark Shadows Theme--ooooo-weeee-ooooo)

While it's been proven time and again that DSF is haunted, the problem was the way the code was written.  The original:
Code: [Select]
[b][i][color=Orange][move]HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. FRID! [cheer] [occasion13] [occasion15] [cheer][/move][/color][/i][/b]has been modified to:
Code: [Select]
[move][b][i][color=Orange]HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. FRID![/color][/i][/b] [cheer] [occasion13] [occasion15] [cheer][/move]
Other YaBB codes now follow the text closely, but to work correctly the move code must wrap around them.   If your banner doesn't work fine now, then you can blame the Forum ghost (s?).

There are some YaBB code topics on the Testing board that you should find helpful.

Somehow I doubt Mr. Frid has stayed tuned to this thread through all the technical stuff, but just the same---

Happy Birthday sir!    And I call no one sir!    This is a first for me!

********

Not that anyone will be demanding personal appearances of me in my 80s, or ever, but still, I'm reserving the right to stay put, at that point, I'm just letting everyone know right now.     Of course by that time, I'll have some sort of holographic duodecaphonic surroundsound futuristic video setup, with a Star Trek like food replicator, so I won't have to leave my chair, or capsule, or coccoon, or whatever crazy device I'm plugged into.

Notice how I took a birthday greeting for a great actor and made it all about me.
