Title: Dark Shadows on Ice
Post by: Bette on November 01, 2006, 01:45:32 AM
Just saw a special on the Style Network called "Halloween on Ice." Low and behold,  Canadian Ice Dancer Shae Lynn Bourne skated a number to a funky Mannheim Steamroller version of the Dark Shadows theme.  [hall2_cheesy]

The group was present on the ice, playing in person and there was a large screen showing a couple of eyes which looked very much like the eyes of a certain vampire. Shae Lynn herself was dressed as a sexy black cat although she also had something of the look of Elvira.  I had heard on my Skatefans list that she would be doing a number called "Dark Shadows" but did not really expect it to be OUR Dark Shadows.   [hall_shocked] It was really fun to see.

Thanks for sharing that, Bette. Maybe we'll all live to see some Winter Olympics ice-dancing hopeful do a full routine to "Shadows Of The Night".... or even "Back At The Blue Whale." Fun!

Or even "Dark Shadows Karaoke" - I can croon a mean "I Wanna Dance With You" a la Pansy/Charity...

I wonder if by chance the song was this version of the theme song?

I've always liked Oneiroid Psychosis' "reinterpretation"!

Nope. It was a cut from Mannheim Steamroller's Halloween Volume 2 album. You can hear a snippet by searching Amazon for the group's halloween albums.

[a_monkey] While we're on this topic, there's one instrumental of "Shadows of the Night", I think one of the Greane Sounde versions, that always makes me shout, "All skate, all skate, the next song is an all skate."  I haven't been roller skating since Barry Manilow's "Mandy" was in the top 40.  [hall2_tongue]

[a_monkey] Also, while I'm thinking of it, Busch Gardens Williamsburg had "Dracula on Ice" during their Halloween activities a few years ago. Some of the music was from the Coppola film. The really cool part was ...Dracula got the girl at the end. She was a rather willing victim. [vampy]

LOL Michael!  I was watching the movie 'Dick' the other night (HILARIOUS parody movie of the Watergate scandal starring Dan Hedeya as Dick Nixon) and there's a scene where the two teenage stars of it (played by Kirston Dunst and Michelle Williams) are at a Roller Disco!  Took ME back for sure to those bygone bell-bottomed, polyester leisure-suited, Disco days!   ;D
