Okay, over a month ago I won an eBay auction for an old issue of Afternoon TV with various DS articles in it. Well, the seller apparently cashed the check for $7.40 but I still haven't received the magazine. So a few days ago I filed a complaint with eBay. Then I received an opening salvo from this creep:

My response:
Why on earth would I lie?? I have 100 percent feedback, and I have always been ethical in my eBay
dealings. Why would I have to go through this trouble over an item I paid $7.40 for unless I didn't
get it? Live up to your responsibility as a seller. If I don't get the magazine in the next few days
, I will have no choice but demand a refund.
And then yesterday, he sent this 'message':

A minute later, he sent the same message with a little something extra:

Well, that last sentence was like a bullet to my heart, and so, dear freiends, I come to you to ask for advice. What shall I do next? I have acted honorably here, and yet I am insulted to the very core of my being as a DS fan. Should I escalate this to a claim against the seller so eBay can take action against him, leave negative feedback or what? <edited by mod>
It's bad enough that he accuses me of lying (over $7.40?), but to call me a disgrace to DS fandom is too much. It's like that Shakespeare quote from Othello:
"Who steals my purse steals trash; 'tis something, nothing; 'twas mine, 'tis his, and has been slave to thousands; but he that filches from me my good name robs me of that which not enriches him and makes me poor indeed."
And right now I feel like a pauper. Sorry for airing out my dirty linen, but I'm just shocked how one person can be so heartless petty & cruel. So friends, I need your help- what am I to do?

Charles, this guideline:
6. The negative discussion of other forums is to be avoided. In other words, no finger pointing.
was written to address the issue of bringing a problem with an individual on another site to here. And please do not post private correspondence without the author's permission.
In addition, attacks on someone else's character or reputation is not allowed.

Just my 2 cents but you should handle this thru ebay plain and simple.
Best of Luck

What a drag.
I always try to use paypal, they're good about refunds in these type of disputes.
If the seller doesn't post negative feedback on you, chalk it up as a minor loss and a relatively inexpensive way to learn a seller to avoid.
If they post negative on you, take it up with TPTB on eBay.

Charles, many of us here in fandom know your reputation as a friendly, helpful person who enjoys associating and sharing with the rest of fandom. I met you briefly at the 99 fest and thought you were a delightful person. To heck with this person's opinion of who he thinks you are, or any other unpleasantness relayed from a total stranger. You know who your friends are, and they know who you are. Treat this as a business situation, deal with eBay only, and good luck to you, my friend.

Charles, I'm so sorry about all this. best of luck!

Well that sucks royally, and why attack your character in the process? I would settle things through ebay. Best of luck to you!

Charles I agree totally w/what petofi has said. I've known you from Fests since my first in 1990 and this person obviously doesn't know you at all. I consider you very honest and ethical, heck your checks are like cash in my opinion. ;) Anyway, TPTB at ebay should be able to help you. And if not, although it IS disappointing to not receive your item, it was less than 10 bucks, I guess it could have been worse. Good luck! 8)
