Title: Curse of the Vampires
Post by: ProfStokes on July 12, 2006, 02:48:37 AM
Last weekend at a used book sale, I picked up a little paperback circa 1979 entitled Curse of the Vampires. It contains lots of trivia and legends about vampires around the world, anecdotes about historical figures like Vlad Tepes and Countess Bathory, and various anachronisms such as references to Dracula's tomb at Lake Snagow in "Communist Rumania". It also has a full-page picture of Christopher Bernau (Philip Todd) in the off-Broadway play The Passion of Dracula, which, according to the book, opened in 1977 and is "still going strong".

There is also a brief paragraph devoted to DS concluding with "Barnabas, where are you now that we need you on TV?" I guess some things haven't changed much from 1979. ;)

Cool pic of Bernau as Dracula.  He did that play while on Guiding Light if I'm not mistaken.

The cover is a picture of Bela Lugosi as Dracula.  The book weas released by Scholastic and was written by Eva Ronan, if that helps.
