I dig candles, especially lots of them. Very relaxing.

I wish I could find some blue ones like the ones that always seemed to be burning in the Old House...

I started enjoying scented candles a few months ago.  I thought it had nothing to do with Dark Shadows, but maybe I was kidding myself.

Oh, but surely somebody out there has written a Dark Shadows craft book?  With useful stuff like how to make blue candles, black wigs, and bleeder valves.

I love them too.  retvez, about the blue candles....  I have alot of them.  I got them at 'Big Lots".  I don't know if you've never heard of it but, it's a store where they have lots of stuff they can't sell anyplace else.  They always have 'blue' candles and weird but 'nice' things that they would definitely have on DS.  Check it out of you have one.

The blue candles have always held a special place for me - I have collected/been given several candelabrum over the years, ans I always try to get the blue candles for them.  On a technical note- I believe that they used non-white candles(as well as sheets, etc.) on the show because of the tv cameras tendency to "bloom," or overly brighten white images.  Anyone else confirm or deny this?

Well, last night we had a hell of a storm and my power is STILL out!  So I was using both my flashlight and a big scented candle (Lilac of course! ;)) to get around etc...They are saying we won't get power restored until around midnight or later today so, I'll be crashing at my parents tonight where the lights, and more importantly, the AIR CONDITIONING, work (was miserable last night in the heat).  I guess I'd say I DON'T like relying on candles and told myself this morning that I will not spend another night as if I lived at the Old House, LOL!  ;)

Oh, I know what you mean Buzz. I don't know how they stood it in the old days. Especially in Florida. That's where I live. But in Collinsport, Maine, it might not have been so bad.

I think candles are pretty and I like seeing them on DS. But I won't have any around my house because I'm scared of fire. I don't know how people stood it in the old days, other than that they must've just gotten used to them and learned how to be careful. But what do you do if you have 6 cats who are not very careful?

Maybe people didn't allow their cats to roam freely in the houses back then and they kept them restricted to only certain rooms. Or maybe they didn't allow them in the houses at all.  [idontknow]

Not as careful as all that.  There were accidents.  John Brown (of Harper's Ferry fame) had a daughter who was burnt to death in a domestic accident involving fire, and I'm sure I've read about others, though I can't remember any specific ones.

I've never had a problem with my cat knocking over a candle, but she's a cautious cat.
