Title: IN HER MEMORY
Post by: VAM on April 23, 2002, 02:41:55 PM
This post is for Bob. Create an epithet for Bathia Mapes.
I expect some really clever responses-

Inscription on small plaque at the base of the Old House staircase:

Here stood Bathia Mapes [ghost]
Not even an ash left to scrape
Blew in one dark night
With the look of anguish and fright [sconf]
Claimed her powers were strong [sure]
But she was dead wrong [skull]
The lesson would seem
Though you may hope and dream [sleep]
Don't confront Angelique [sssh]
Or you'll soon feel quite weak
And your droopy old body
Will light up like a toddy
[uzi]

What part of "I cannot be disturbed" did they not understand?

Love it, Nancy!  A groaner  ;D

I'll add mine, too:

[shadow=red,left,300]

Poor Bathia Mapes
Tried to stop a witch's ire
But finding no escape
Vanished in a flash of fire!

I'm glad you liked my contribution, Happybat.

I am further inspired by your wonderful contribution.

Here lies Bathia Mapes
not enough left
to fill two crepes . .

dust to dust
and ashes to ashes
into her grave
Bathia dashes

(that is a re-working of Queen Victoria-oriented rhyme)

The wrath of a witch
or the fury of grapes
one of them killed
poor Bathia Mapes.

Okay, I'll stop.

They should put on her tombstone "I never should have gone to the house of the curse . . . "
