Ah ha! So, that's why the quill is featured so prominently in the shot - it was a tribute to THE PEN!! How foolish of me not to have realized that. :-[
I might have to start watching DS all over again now just to spot other such quill/pen shots that were undoubtedly tributes as well. :D
