Title: Ron Sproat interview from 1983
Post by: Gothick on May 16, 2025, 02:29:49 AM
Folks who are interested in the behind the scenes drama of the original series will enjoy this intriguing 1983 appearance by Ron Sproat, videotaped by the legendary Guy Haines at the 1983 DS Festival in Newark. Topics include the early 1966 storyline, the Phoenix Laura Collins, Vicki's parentage, the 1795 storyline, the introduction of Julia, and lots more.

Favorite moments include the expression on Ron Sproat's face when one fan is explaining to another about Julia's astral body in 1897, and Ron's very brief response to the question 'Was Dan Curtis a slave-driver?' A poker-faced 'Yes' is the reply.

Another great interview--Sy Tomashoff at the 1987 DS Festival in LA. I very much appreciate Guy making these available.

I remember being in Newark for that festival. Ron Sproat was the only guest who showed up. Donna Wandrey and Lara Parker were both announced but canceled presumably for health issues. I remember the host (Jeff Thompson or Joe Collins) reading a letter from Alexandra Isles saying that she would have loved to attend but had a previously scheduled trip to Europe. She hoped to attend the following year but her life took quite a detour.

A tastefully polite way of putting it.  [easter_smiley]

I happened to notice this on Guy's channel yesterday and was very happy to see these videos uploaded! I watched the Ron Sproat one and enjoyed it very much. I look forward to watching the one with Sy and the one with Bob Costello as well!
