Title: Kathryn Leigh Scott Announces Lyndhurst Event
Post by: Uncle Roger on January 16, 2025, 05:59:09 AM
TLATKLS just announced that there will be a DS event at Lyndhurst this summer on July 19th and 20th. Tickets are not yet on sale, nor has the cost been decided on. Aside from the usual tours, the event promises a Cocktails at Collinwood, access to the tower room and photos ops with original props and furnishings from the series. She is also promising special surprise guests, to be announced later. Note: this does not appear to be a Festival event.

Wow! This will be a VERY busy summer coming up for the ever-enterprising Ms. Kathryn Leigh Scott. First, she’s tying the knot in June, and then, in July, KLS is hosting yet another DS event at the stately Lyndhurst mansion. The woman is a veritable Dark Shadows dynamo! 🤩😅

However, I am surprised to hear that, apparently, Jim Pierson, KLS’s longtime “Boswell,” so to speak, will not be participating at all in Ms. Scott’s upcoming DS celebration. 😲😎😧

Who knows, maybe the Dark Shadows Dynamo will come up with, yet, another exciting and thrilling event for August of 2025?!? 😀🤠

Kathryn's fiancee lives fairly close to Lyndhurst so it should be an easy commute for her.

More information has been posted for the July event. Tickets for the meet and greet will be $40, plus a small service fee. There will be two sessions, morning and afternoon. Tours of Lyndhurst and the cocktail reception will require separate tickets. I couldn't find pricing for those.

The price for Champagne at Collinwood has been posted. It will be $125.00 per person. There will be receptions on both days. That's more than a little pricey. But I can certainly picture certain fans trying to get their money's worth and making fools of themselves in the process.🍾🍷🍸🍹🍺

Gee, for $125.00 for this “Champagne at Collinwood” event, in addition to the $40.00 plus service charge for the meet and greet with KLS, you’d think that you’d at least get a hot dog, a slice of pizza or even a Turkey sandwich with mayonnaise that Mrs. Johnson would approve of for all of that money? 🤑🌭🍕🥪🤑😈🤔

Let's just hope that someone remembers how unbearably hot Lyndhurst can get in the summer. The "air conditioned" tent was extremely uncomfortable and the stable was even worse.

Of course, the Dark Shadows fans aren’t getting any younger either. Heck, many of us are starting to look and sound just like Ezra Braithwaite, Bathia Mapes, Papa Justin Collins and the Eagle Hill Cemetery caretaker. 🥵🙁☠️

I so agree, Bob.  We cousins who grew up as fans - and have remained fans a half-century later - are not exactly kids running home after school anymore.  And, ironically, most of us are now back on limited incomes just as we were back then as well.  Expecting us to cough up (when we're not coughing up) that kind of money, along with other related expenses such as traveling, hoteling, dining, etc. is just not realistic.  Nor is thinking we have the ability to tolerate sultry summer days like it's some Tennessee William's play while climbing four stories of staircases.  Of course we would love to experience these now mini-DS events as the annual festival has gone the way of Olivia Corey, but those powers-in-charge need to be practical and look at their target audience and their demographics.

Please bear in mind that this event is not a festival sponsored event. As much as we'd like to blame Pierson for it, this is a KLS project.

Hmmm - seems like Lyndhurst is more a place to be avoided in the summer, not visited.

It's funny that I always assumed Lyndhurst is air conditioned. But it wouldn't have been when it was built, and obviously the National Trust For Historic Preservation wouldn't allow the building to be upgraded because that would detract from its historic nature, so it was foolish of me to think Lyndhurst is air conditioned...

Apparently it's a good thing the DS films were both shot there in spring.

Very well stated, Gerard. 👍🏻

Although, if I might compliment KLS for one thing; at least Ms. Scott is not holding her meet and greet and “Champagne at Collinwood” events on the very next day after a beloved Dark Shadows actor is to be eulogized. Now, that would be very tacky and in extremely poor taste.

And, Uncle Roger,

I’m reminded of what the late Ben Bradlee, the editor of the “Washington Post,” once said during the Watergate scandal, “It’s great sport going after Richard Nixon.”

Well, it’s also sort of great sport going after, or, more likely, finding fault with, the longtime producer of the Dark Shadows Festivals.

The "special surprise guests" have been announced. It's going to be Marie Wallace and Sharon Smyth Lentz. Not exactly a surprise.

I was just wondering:

If you lived in the mythical New England fishing village of Collinsport, Maine and you were fortunate enough to have received an invitation from Mrs. Stoddard and Roger Collins to come to the great house to enjoy “cocktails at Collinwood,” do you think that Liz and Roger would have put the bite on you for $125.00 to enjoy one or two glasses of the bubbly stuff? I don’t think so. 🤔🥂🍸🍷🍹🍾😈🙄

KLS just posted that David Henesy has expressed an interest in attending the Tarrytown event. Wouldn't that be something! This is certainly more interest than he's expressed in the past. I wonder if this is because it is not a festival event which means that there would be no direct involvement with Pierson.

Latest update from Kathryn Leigh Scott states that Nancy Barrett will be attending the Lyndhurst event. And apparently so will David Henesy. This is big news, as far as Dark Shadows goes. Henesy was announced as a guest for at least one festival but never actually appeared. A lot can happen between now and the summer but it seems that the TLATKLS has managed to do something that the festival never could.

Donna McKechnie has been added to the guest list.

Another activity has been added to the event. Based on 19th century technology, attendees can have their photo done aa,a tintype. Reservations are highly recommend for this and you must have a ticket to attend the main event. Please be advised thar this will NOT be an inexpensive purchase. Cost is from $82.75 to $102.75. Caveat emptor and all that.

My housemate came across a video on YouTube of a July event with KLS hosting what looked like a Q&A style set up. I recognized Sharon Lentz from across the room without the benefit of my 'TV' glasses. I believe I heard KLS say one of the guests was Grayson Hall's son. My hearing is of equal quality to my eyesight, lol. So don't take my word for it. I'm almost certain the post date was July 25, 2025 or the event date was so.

I'm guessing it was from this topic's event. So if you are interested...

I wasn't, hence the limited info.

I did not attend this event, never planned to. Unfortunately, the event's announced featured guest David Henesy did not attend. When you don't have the guests signed to a contract they can decide not to attend for any reason even at the last minute. Donna McKechnie and Matt Hall did attend which was nice.
Jim Pierson was also there and made some vague proclamation about the 60th anniversary which Gothick mentioned in another post.

Videos of the Q & A sessions at Lyndhurst have been posted on youtube, as dom reported, by veteran fan Guy Haines.

The guests who attended were KLS, Sharon Smyth Lentz, Marie Wallace, Donna McKechnie, and Matt Hall.

David Henesy couldn't attend due to an emergency situation with his business. Nancy Barrett, who like David had been announced as a possible attendee, also didn't make it.

cheers, Gothick
