Title: Jenny Brown
Post by: Midnite on January 01, 2025, 04:53:27 AM
The DS community has shockingly lost a popular festival fixture in Jenny Brown, who passed away on Dec 17, leaving behind her mother and two beautiful daughters.  Jenny was introduced to the series by her father, Dave Brown, who I believe was an original Festival videographer and preceded her in death. She was also a member here-- taking the nickname of an 1897 character. Services will be private.

Jenny and I shared a birthday and often joked we were astral twins born 22 years apart. My condolences go out to her family.

I just read this shocking news on Facebook. I bonded with Jenny when I was starting out in fandom because we were closer in age than I was with most of the other fans (and because we were both short).  We roomed together on a trip to Seaview and once met up in Palm Springs to go horseback riding when she came out to visit CA.  I'm grateful to have those memories. Though I lost touch with her in recent years, I always expected to see her again at another DS event someday. I understand Jenny practically grew up at the DS Festivals, and I can imagine how hard this loss will hit some of the people who've known her since then. My condolences go out to Jenny's children, the rest of her family, and her friends.

I was pretty stunned when profstokes let me know she heard the news of Jennys passing thru facebook. I kinda sorta knew of her from the old scifi dsboards but later on able to connect the dots with the person at fests. Got to know her best at 2 of the Collins Assn events. They were very casual but a lot of fun. Being a smaller gathering,  a bunch of us would gather after the events and she would join us and hang out either around the couches in the hotel hallway or commandeer the closed down bar and visit to the wee hours.  Jenny was younger than most of us but looked even younger and I guess if she was told that, she got a lil miffed..lol. For me, the best part of Dark Shadows has been going to places I never would have otherwise and to meet and make so many friends. Between the fests and events and our fan club that I run , it's literally like the goose that laid the golden egg for me. Just very very special. The only downside is when you lose somebody. Our club has lost like 4 members in the last 2-3 years and thats really tough. It really is like losing one of our own. Dark Shadows was the magic connection that brought us all together. Jenny was way too young to pass away so suddenly and I only can send my condolences out to her daughters and mother and close friends.
